I ordered a treadmill from Academy online. During the purchase, I received free shipping and all seemed well. My treadmill arrived in a timely manner however, the delivery driver wouldnt bring it up to my apartment unless I assisted him. What was going to happen had I refused to move a 150+ lb treadmill up two flights of stairs because the delivery company planned poorly. I brought this up to a customer service rep via the 800 number. The woman told me that wasnt academys fault because they contract out delivery. After repeated attempts online and via 800 number, I found out that Academy contracts out to Ceva, who then contracted out to a local delivery place. Wheres the accountability and standards? I got told, your email will be forwarded and we will look into it. Well, moving on, I open the box....it requires two people to put together. I wasnt aware of that when Academy offered Assembly assistance. So I asked about that, another $82. Since the delivery to my parking lot wasnt up to my satisfaction Academy said theyd split half of the cost for assembly before tax, so $37.50, or I could return the product for a full refund. Really? Why not pay for the assembly in full? Youd rather lose $500 and a customer vs paying for assembly and putting up information on your website to inform customers why delivery is free? This is the worst experience. Im staring at a box with a treadmill I cannot afford to put together, but oh, yes, I was offered a 20% off future purchases promo code. I mean really????

Me and my family spend well enough of our share there at academy, but this visit was the worst ever! I brought my friend to test out some of their golf clubs "since he wanted a full matching set " at 1100$ a set remind you! We went to the golf area to test which clubs would be best for him so we went to the practice nets to swing! I seen a employee and asked her if she could turn the golf screen on and she replied in a most hateful voice saying (if you all didnt come in here touching the screen it would still be working )!!!! Note to the public: Ive never touched the screen in my life!

Poor service. While the staff may seem courteous, theyre not helpful. I asked three different people for a specific item, two acted like they didnt carry it at all without confirming and quickly walked away. The other pointed me towards the back of the store and said, "if we have it, it would be back there in camping." I asked, "where is that section, Im new to this store... could you help me look for it?" She proceeded to give me walking directions on where to try and look for something they might have but never offered to come help me look for it. I was looking for a carabiner snap hook.

Been to many Academy locations around the U.S. and I have to say this is quite disappointing. To say the customer service is poor would be an understatement. Sad, especially with the fact they are mostly young. This is a direct result of a lack of management and leadership. Took our business somewhere else.

The staff tried to help us but selection was low and we left without the items we were looking for...no womens waders at all and few size options for men. Did not carry the bait we were looking for although they carry other items of that brand.

This is the best place to get sports equipment. The staff goes above and beyond to get what you are looking for. If they dont have it they will order it for you. They always have sales and the prices are great. They really do have everything!

Wasnt able to get any help from the employees. Had a customer come up to me asking for help finding the bathroom. Went up to the gun counter and two of them were just looking down while I stood there.

Everything in the store is kind of overpriced unless it is on sale, in which case its usually a great deal. I got some great hiking boots for $40 that usually cost twice as much.
