Went to Academy for the 1st time last night for a camping trip. At first I was pleasantly surprised by reasonable prices and selection. But had a horrible checkout experience. They had bottles of Banana Boat mens sunscreen on markdown for fifty cents. I couldnt believe it as the other bottles were 8 dollars, but I double checked the sign and the barcode number on the bottle matched the barcode on the sign, so I definitely grabbed a bottle. At the check out lane, the bottle rang up for 8 dollars and I told the cashier, it was on sale for 50 cents. She did not believe me. There was no one behind me in line and I offered to walk her back to show her. Instead she called someone over the phone and they were too busy to do a price check. She was insinuating I was a liar and a cheat with her tone and words on the phone. Luckily, a cashier on the next lane heard our conversation and told my checker that yes indeed there was a type of bottle on sale for fifty cents. Listen, its a crazy price but if thats what you mark it for be prepared to sell it for that without calling your customers liars. Will not return.

Awesome deals everyday of the week! Just paid $60 for an item that was listed at $300 in a new giant sports store not far from here. And it was a better product too! Im not trying to dog on the other chains, but Academy is definitely going to receive my business from here on out! Oh, and the day I went, there were so many people there and everyone decided to check out at the same time. This was not the fault of Academy sports. They had 8+ lanes open at that time. But they shipped out some $5off coupons and made a bunch of people REALLY HAPPY!!! Smiles All Around. And High fives and Five Stars to Academy Sports and their wonderful employees!

Ordered item online using gift card received at Christmas. Order was cancelled over 48 hours later. The Academy solution in this event is to issue a new gift card (instead of just reloading the original GC). After waiting a week for the new GC to arrive in the mail, I took the GC and the gift receipt to the store to get a cash refund. I found the shoes I wanted to purchase on amazon for a little less. The store refused to refund the purchase, since the GC I brought in was not the original GC purchased. Academy Online refused to help. Now Im stuck w/ a GC to a company I have no desire to shop at. Pretty frustrated.

I was not happy with how the store manager handled things we asked to talk to him about the exercise bike he said he would come over but he didnt show up I feel like he was avoiding us. I am not happy with my visit the store wasnt busy at all so I know he wasnt too busy. the person that waited on us did an excellent job she was very nice to us and tried to help us but the manager didnt try we were trying to buy an exercise bike but the floor model was the only one left we wanted to discuss it with him but he wouldnt come to discuss it are how to get another one over to the store from another store

Dont waste your time buying any archery products grin this store. They are rude and will jerk you around for three days straight. Buying a youth compound bow for my nephew was the hardest thing I ever did in archery. Was told by a associate that works there that crossbow wasnt allowed for deer hunting in Kansas. After calling kansas wildlife I find out these morons that work at academy dont know what they are talking about. Dont trust anything that comes out of their mouths here. If their lips are moving its a lie!

My annual trip for my April birthday to buy 2 pair of shoes! Bummer this year could only 1 pair that was to my liking, other stores, no help on phone, even this location called for us, maybe 1 annual shoe this year, bummer, friendly sales guys, especially the old ones, the young ones turn the other way when they see a senior coming! Shame on those kids, like to see the security videos, watching the young ones hide out! Id would write them up for slacking!

Academy sports has been able to stay in business because of their low LOW prices and quality products, must have cut down on staff too because this place was a ghost town. I easily found what I needed, but no one offered to help and I saw a group of employees just standing around chatting. Good shopping experience though!

This store is so helpful and friendly. We buy firearms, sports equipment and apparel - and they always have a great inventory. The firearms department are always very helpful and efficient. Their prices cant be beat either, especially when things are on the sale ad. This is one of our favorite stores.

Never had a bad experience at this store. Workers are always very friendly and attentive, and the selection is great. I had to return a couple pair of shoes because they were too small, and it was no hassle. Customer service was great and I now have the shoes I wanted! Really reasonable prices as well...

I have yet to have a bad or unpleasant experience here. The store is in a great location, clean and has ample parking. The staff are always willing to assist and super friendly. Also you cant beat their prices (literally because they price match), and they offer no hassle returns.

I like how academy sport has a lot of equipment for about every sport out their, but the staff isnt great. Tried to get help, they just keep avoiding me, I am very sure thats not how business works. Will return eventually but not happy with what they have right now

Went there for a youth girls Tball glove and it was in the wrong bin that was cheaper than the others. When checking out we didnt want it because it was 30 instead of 20 and they honered their mistake. We will be going back to them in the future.

Brightly lit sporting goods store very popular today June 18th, 2016. Lots of sports categories on sale. My wife bought a ladies one piece swimsuit. Checking out at the register takes much longer than other competitors.
