I surprised my husband with a boudoir session from AD. Surprised is not really the right word.... Stunned is more like it. I STUNNED him! Or rather Angie did. I cannot say enough about her and her entire staff. From helping chose lingerie, jewelry and shoes all the way to the AMAZING viewing session where my husband was reintroduced to his wife in a whole new way, they were so helpful, friendly, and uplifting! Her beautiful store has everything you need for a session, a date night or just chilling with a book and some wine. Everything is comfortable and wearable, but still super sexy! I arrived at my session very nervous and dehydrated (thanks a lot, Pinterest for your mind altering detox bath recipe). Angie and her stylist were so great. They quickly got me talking and relaxed. Pretty soon, I was sipping champagne and quickly becoming less and less concerned with how naked I was. My hair and makeup were done so beautifully that I barely recognized myself. Angie got busy working her magic and knew exactly what poses and outfits to use. She even took my favorite boring "get ready" shirt and plain cotton undies and somehow made this tipsy, half naked 40 year old mother of two look incredible. We loved every shot she took. And for someone who absolutely hates pictures of herself, that is HUGE! I would be totally fine with hanging one of these big ass portraits of myself over my mantel. They are that great! I had a moment before the shoot where I thought how great it would be to have them taken at my house, but I decided against it and now regret that decision. It would have been a longer session and maybe allowed for some different poses and settings. I mean, how hot would it be to be in MY bed or in front of MY window? UGH! Another day, perhaps... I will also say that I was unprepared for how much of a commitment it was. My advice is pay attention and start early! I wont give you all the juicy details. I will just say that my husband was EXTREMELY pleased with the portraits. He didnt even know boudoir sessions were a thing! Angie is so much fun as anyone can tell from her Facebook page, but dont let that fool you, she is a total professional. She isnt a photographer. She is an artist in every possible way. Thank you so much for an amazing experience and a gorgeous keepsake that we will cherish forever!

So the upside is that Angie and her crew were absolutely amazing during the shoot itself. The preview I got of the pictures through the shoot were jaw dropping and I was sure that she had a body double somewhere. Going into the boudoir shoot you may think youll be shy or self conscious but my confidence has never been higher. Now for the negative (something every seems worried about actually writing about). For over $1,300+ I paid for a photo shoot that I received precisely zero images for and get absolutely nothing out of. And then, after paying an additional $2,700+, I receive a book that I will be waiting more than a month for and (again) zero digital copies of these pictures? Pictures of me? Pictures that I was told in the consultation I would receive? For a service Ive paid well over the usual cost for? Despite the trade norm for a photographer to deliver a digital copy? Despite the trade norm for photography to deliver prints within a matter of a couple of weeks? This is baffling to me. I understand photography is an art. I understand that photographers spend a long time fine tuning their art. But its one thing to charge proportionally for a service and another to over charge and then fail to deliver a product or specify the fine print or the lack of product delivered. I must say outside of the photography itself, I have been extremely underwhelmed and disappointed by services provided. From day one there isnt any sort of price list for any products and services offered. During the consultation customers are told "we offer A B and C" but never have the opportunity to look at anything in writing as to what is included and when questions are asked, apparently either receive misinformation or half-truths about the products. When it comes to the ordering session, Ive never seen a photograph that doesnt have a price list available to review before going into the session to have an idea about what is offered. Any photographer that has a "Purchase now or we delete and its gone forever" has a terrible policy that not only shorts their customers of the images but also themselves of future sales. While I look forward to actually receiving the finished book and Im sure the images themselves will be beautiful, I must say that I am absolutely disappointed and appalled at the level of service provided for such a luxury service.

I had wanted to do a boudoir shoot for several months. I had been trying to talk my best friend into doing one as well, though she was apprehensive. One afternoon she called and said hey, I booked us a consultation at Angie Davis. When we arrived, Lindsay was awesome! She immediately made us feel at ease. Before we left, we had sessions booked. As the day approached, Ill admit, I was pretty nervous. You dont see many plus size images on the internet that are tastefully done and I was beyond concerned that I would end up with a little black book full of headshots. Just a few days before our scheduled shoot, we drove down to the studio to chat with Lindsay and Angie just to ease our minds. As our concerns were expressed, Angie pretty much told us we had nothing to worry about, she had been doing this a really long time and had shot many plus size ladies. I left feeling better but not completely convinced. The day of our session came and...I wont lie, I was still a wreck! After hair and makeup by the amazing Kendall, I slipped into the first outfit and pose. Angie got her first shots and flipped the camera around and let me look. I was blown away. Unedited images and all. She had captured a side of me I wasnt sure existed any longer. I cannot thank this lady, or her team, enough for the confidence she has re-instilled in me. I am still floating on a cloud...and feeling so empowered as a woman! If you are a plus size woman looking for a pick me up, or any woman for that matter, I encourage to visit Angie and give her the opportunity to remind you how insanely gorgeous you truly are!

Five years ago I donated my hair to Pantene Beautiful Lengths with the intention to grow it out even longer and then, when I was ready, donate it again. So this time around, going from waist-length hair to a pixie cut, I donated around 24" of hair. While I was ready to free myself from the maintenance, there was this tiny part of me, that realized the possibility of never having hair like that again... Thats when I realized that, thanks to the magic of art photography, I could donate it and, in a way, still keep it. When I decided I wanted "classy" photos, I knew exactly who to turn to. Angies style is superb and her eye for capturing beautiful shots is incredible. My favorite thing about her, though, is her body-positive lexicon. She truly sees the beauty in every woman and her words, camera, staging, and styling make you feel beautiful in your deepest core. While my husband is definitely happy about the photos, this photo session was for me - to help me feel 100% confident in my drastic hair donation. Seeing the previews of her photos after the shoot allowed me to let go of my hair so I could pass it on and help a cancer patient feel more positive about herself. During the entire process - shopping in Angies store, selecting which piece of lingerie or accessory should be in which shot, trying this pose or that - Angie made it all about me and my celebration and letting go. It was a truly magical experience and I couldnt recommend her more sincerely.
