My fiance and I went here on a Sunday to get new tires on his car, because they were the only place open on Sunday that had the tires he wanted to get. Unfortunately. When we arrived, we were informed that it would be several hours because they were short handed. Fine. Called some friends, went to lunch, etc. Finally, 4 hours later, when they called to let us know the car was done, our friends dropped us off at the PepBoys. While driving in front of the store, our friends picked up some kind of wire thing in their tire, which caused a hole in the tired. All the way through, and you could hear the air coming out. Our friend was upset, obviously, and accompanied us into the store to inquire about getting it fixed. He was told, in front of all of us, that it would be a 2-3 hour wait, because the guys "had to take a lunch!" ?? WTF? Obviously, he was more upset, and being a mechanic, decided to just leave and fix it himself at home. We paid our *overpriced* bill and left. When we approached our car, I noticed and verbally told my fiance that there was something on the hood of his car that wasnt there when we dropped the car off at the store. He noticed and agreed. Being that we had to leave town and return to Phoenix that night, we left and went to say our good byes to his family. When we were getting ready to leave, he tried to wash it off with a wet towel. It was like a white powdery substance, that looked like it had been splattered on the hood of the car. We then went through a car wash, and it was still there...not the powdery substance, but, an outline of many drops on the hood. Big drops, like the size of a quarter! On our way out of town, I called the PepBoys store, spoke to the manager..Randy, I believe? Rodney...? Anyways...He acted like he knew exactly what it was, "its from the swamp coolers that we have in the shop! Come in and we can get it off for you!" He stated that it had something to do w/ the calcium buildup stuff they put in the swamp coolers...some type of chemical? Anyways...He acted like he knew what it was, that it happened all the time, and that they could fix it...just wax it out or something....SO, we went back again....well....they couldnt get it off of the paint. Started telling us it was "fisheye" from the paintjob...which, by the way, was JUST a brand new paint job done about a month prior to this incident...we argued with them, telling them that it had happened while at their shop...he denied and offered to send the insurance adjuster out....well...they came out...and denied our claim. Go Figure!!! These guys are *ssholes. DON"T take your vehicle to them unless you want it ruined!!! Brand new paint job, done professionally, and a month later its ruined while getting new tires on the car. Ridiculous!

There were many signs that I shouldnt have done service at this location. My car ac stopped blowing air so I decided to go to pepboys since they serviced me before. However, this was the first time I have been to this location. The lady at the service desk seemed like she didnt want to work there and could careless if you serviced your car. I went ahead with the diagnostic. They said that my blower motor [which blows the air] and ac switch [which makes the air cold] was broken. I was pretty confident that it was not my ac switch since it was blowing cold air before. I then told them to just replace the blower motor since I believed that was the main problem. After the service was done, my ac was still not blowing any air. They also told me that there was an electrical problem that they could not fix. They told me to go to another pepboys that can take care of it. This is where I questioned them if my blower motor was even broken. Disappointed at the service from pepboys, I then went to a honda dealership instead. The honda dealership told me that pepboys service was pointless and I pretty much wasted my money. They tested my old blower motor and said it was not broken at all. Honda dealership looked at my ac switch and said that it was turned off and was not broken. Honda also told me that when they replace the blower motor, they didnt do the necessary steps to install it. I would go more into detail of what they did and how they potentially sabotaged my car but this will be longer. Now I have a $150 blower motor sitting in my car when my old blower motor was perfectly fine. I was misdiagnosed and their labor fee was pointless. They pretty much just robbed me.

My dad warned me not to go here because he doesnt believe in a company that wont hire back deployed military. It wasnt until I took my car there to get my AC checked out that I realized what thieves these people are. They performed a $35 diagnostics test on my AC system and informed me that they werent sure exactly what the problem was. They did however inform me that they could do $700 worth of service on it, but that wouldnt guarantee the problem to be fixed, that would "just be the first step." I couldnt afford $700 worth of non-guaranteed service and ended up having an acquaintance that works in Wal Marts tire and lube shop to take a look (for free). He loaded my AC back up with freon, and informed me that there was a leak so small they couldnt see, but put some iridescent dye through the lines so it could be detected under a blacklight in a couple months. My AC works great and as far as I can tell, that was the ONLY problem. And what did it cost? 25 dollars. When the leak is found, it will probably cost a total of $10 to have in repaired. Pep boys should be ashamed to call themselves a company to be trusted. I am a 22 year old female and was undoubtedly taken advantage of at this place. Do not give them the pleasure of your business.

Had a great experience here today. Went in for brake service because of noise. Even told them that it sounded like the brake indicators. I usually do my own service, but i had misplaced some tools so i figured id save myself a few hours work today. They took a look and even showed me that my brakes were fine, and spent about 25 minutes discussing what could be making the noise and how to address it. The service guy Ben was knowledgeable and courteous. There are a lot of places in town that could have fleeced me for a full brake job and i wouldnt have second guessed it. However, they led me back and showed me the condition of the braking system and told me not to waste my money. Ill definitely be returning for service and parts in the future. Oh, and to the people on here complaining about price... Their prices are very reasonable. Yes, car repair is expensive. It is expensive because it is specialized work and not having it done correctly is dangerous. You can get things done cheaper by a half-assed mechanic, just dont complain when you have a critical failure when driving a one ton machine at 80mph on the freeway.
