So I’m on my way to Whole Foods next door, and I wander into this store looking for black running/aerobics shoes. I walk to the back of the store and I see these black Nikes. Score. I stand around, and wait, and wait, and no one offers to help me. There are 4 visible staff working. I’ll call them boyman1, boyman2, girlwoman1 and girlwoman2. All 4 are waiting on customers. I try to get back to the shoe display. It’s difficult because the benches and customers are in the way and there is only 1 path. The configuration and layout of the store is weird. I wait, and wait. I go look at hats. I come back to the shoes. I spy boyman1 who does not seem to be waiting on a customer. I ask to see the black Nikes. He rudely tells me to sit down and he will wait on me when is finished with other customers. I sit down. I wait and wait. I get tired of waiting. I go try on hats. I go to the register to purchase a hat. No one is at the register. I stand near the register holding my hat. Girlwoman1 walks to my left without saying anything or acknowledging my presence. Girlwoman2 walks to my right without saying anything or acknowledging my presence. Then Boyman1 approaches me. I point out a mark on the white hat and ask him to look for a clean white hat in the stockroom. He disappears into the back. I sit down hoping to try on shoes. Now there are no other customers, they have all left. I casually notice that there are several athletic roller bars strewn about the floor in the shoe section. I think, “this is an accident waiting to happen…someone could step on these bars, fall, and there would be a lawsuit”. A new clerk, Boyman3 appears from the back. He orders me to not sit on the bench with my feet in the aisle, and to move my feet so that they are facing the other direction so the people can reach the shoe display. I think to myself “you have to be f__ing kidding me, people were seated in exactly this way a few minutes ago and plus these roller bars are an accident waiting to happen and you’re worried about my feet obstructing traffic in the aisle? Besides, all the customers have disappeared and the places is now empty…” I keep my thoughts to myself. I ask him to bring out the black Nikes in a size 8.5 women’s. He does. While I’m trying them on he tries to give me a hard-sell on a membership. I think “You must be kidding, do I look like someone who needs a new pair of running shoes every 6 months?” I say thanks anyway. I ask him if he knows what happened to Boyman1 who was checking on the black mark on the white hat. Then I see Boyman1 across the store, doing something else. He has apparently entirely forgotten to check on the hat. Boyman3 disappears. I am alone. Then I hear an extremely loud clang and a celebration among all the Boymen and girlwomen. I don’t know the reason but assume this is because someone purchased a membership. Again, 30 seconds later I hear another extremely loud gong and another similar celebration of whooping and hollering. It just so happens that I have hyperacusis, an extreme sensitivity to loud sounds. I stand up and walk out the door and go to Whole Foods next door. I will buy my black running shoes and white hat somewhere else.

First person greeted me while walking by, second person (Lisa) finally approached me after I sat in front of the womens shoes for quite a while alone and staring at the wall. I was able to try on one pair of shoes, waited another long long period before ANYONE even acknowledged me sitting there doing absolutely nothing though 2 employees were helping 2 retired gentlemen (who talked and entertained me). They were sitting literally right beside me but facing the opposite direction on the bench (we were back to back and clearly not together (I am 40). The woman helping them was the one who got me the pair of shoes to try on and then completely ignored me as if I was invisible. Finally a 3rd person (didnt catch his name, it was different sounding, young black guy, very nice) actually came over to see if I needed anything. He actually stuck around to allow me to ask 2 questions. I got to try on a 2nd pair of shoes. Waiting around 45 mins to try on only 2 pairs of shoes and not get to ask more than 2 questions in 45 mins is not ok with me. Even though I really liked the 2nd pair of shoes, I walked out. I am not going to buy from a place that ignores a customer sitting by themselves staring at the womens tennis shoe wall for 45 mins without really ever helping them. I should have been in and out in less than 10 mins. Not as big of a selection as well like I thought there would be.

I had the opposite experience that Chris reported. Although I qualify for Medicare in two weeks, all sales personnel were extremely patient and helpful. The Shoe Dog system showed that my current shoes are totally wrong for my feet, and probably a cause for current back problems. The pricing and VIP program were carefully explained several times. I know they can be trusted to do what they say, as my wife recently returned shoes that didnt feel right after about two months of use. They happily replaced them with the proper shoes at no charge. I dont know any other store that would do that. Overall I feel they have the best customer service of any store I have visited, and the Shoe Dog system is invaluable in determining the proper shoe.

Read some of the reviews before I went there today for the first time! Just want to let everybody know that it was an awesome experience! I am not young, I am overweight and have a lot of foot problems! Everybody treated me like I was the only person in the store- cant actually remember when I was ever treated with soo much attention. Wish I could remember everybodys name because they all deserve Kudos. It only made sense to sign up for their Vip program- because I baught quite a few things and it saved me Money. My new Nikes with their custom orthotics make me feel like I am walking on a cloud! Most amazing you can return any thing for a 3 month period! Really Shoes and Orthotics!!! Big Fan Karin Berg

I really don’t do walk-in store shopping that much (customer service is #1 draw back). So rating is for Road Runner Sports online. They do have nice footwear, so I did an order on-line in June 2016, I paid, I got ref. number, and waited for my footwear. After a few days I decided to call and find out why it was taking too long. Order was CANCEL. I never received an e-mail or phone call regarding cancellation. I did the same thing for someone else as a favor in a different footwear in July 2016. Same process and again I had to call to find out what was wrong with the order. Order Canceled, AGAIN!. Customer Service issues is not only in physical stores (as other customers complain), but online shopping as well.
