REAL Customer service!! I work...a lot. Due to the spike in gas prices I have parked my car and now use my bike (a heretofore rarely ridden 2011 Diamondback Maravista) to get me back and forth from the Metro Light Rail. Its not too far...about 2 miles in each direction. Plus I now use the bike for short trips to the market and back. About 2 weeks ago the bike developed an annoying "noise". Tried as I might, I could not isolate the source. It didnt seem to effect the performance of the bike...but it was getting louder and more annoying. Due to the hours I work, getting the bike into a shop for a diagnosis before their closing time was difficult. Today I had the chance to get it checked out....I got off at 4:15 pm. I was home, clothes changed and ready to go at about 5:00 pm. My first stop was a shop whos name is related to a Greased Sow. Their web site stated they were open until 7 pm so I thought I had plenty of time. I got there at about 5:15 pm. Spoke with an employee who after a quick test drive of my bike, stated that he thought he knew what the problem was...but it would take about an hour to isolate and fix. The "boss" in the shop overheard this conversation and told the employee that I would have to schedule an appointment for next Monday. He stated that he could not afford to have his tech working on my bike right now due to the anticipated "walk-in" traffic before closing (albeit an hour and 45 minutes away). As I was a potential paying customer I stated this was not acceptable to me. I inquired as to another nearby bike shop that I could patronize. He kindly offered up the address (although not the name) of Landis on 7th Ave and Indian School. I got to Landis at about 5:40 pm. The shop was busy. I asked when they closed...and was told 6:00 pm. I thought I was out of luck. A kindly matron inquired as to my problem with my bike. (I noticed no Diamondback bikes in the shop). I explained my problem, the hours I work, and my limited opportunity for service on my bike. She took my bike and put it on a rack without question. A tech started to diagnose the problem while asking me pertinent, specific questions. While on the rack, the tech did a quick check. He immediately lubed and adjusted the derailer and then took it for a spin out back. He heard the noise still. He had me ride slowly out back while he followed me to better isolate the noise. He put the bike on the rack and quickly tightened the spokes and trued the rear wheel. He took the bike out back again for a quick test. He came back in...told me to follow him...had me ride the bike again...and the noise was gone. HE FIXED IT!! The time was now 6:00 pm. He asked if I had left anything in the shop as he would lock up for the night behind me. I said I got everything (but I didnt). I asked how much I owed for the service. He just looked at me, smiled, and said "Just keep riding man." I asked if I could just shake his hand then..which I did. I rode out the back of the shop on my now silent bike and as I came around to the front...he was whistling at me. I had forgotten my bike cable lock which he had removed prior to placing the bike on the rack the first time. As he handed me the lock I noticed it was a different lock. He said that while removing my lock (a Walmart cheapo) it had literally fallen apart in his hands. He offered a new lock and set the combo for me on the spot. While I was waiting in the shop earlier...I observed the "menu" posted for various services and tune-ups. I figured that the lube, derailer adjustment, and spoke tightening/wheel truing was about $40-50 bucks...not including the price of the new lock. I wasnt charged a single cent! And Landis did ALL of this in 20 minutes!!! I have never written a review for anything before...but for this outstanding service...I had too. Thank you Landis..you have a new customer for life. As for the Greasy Sow...sorry...you lose.

Went in there today to look for a tricycle for my mother. They had a nice black one outside. I looked at the price tag and it says $150. I was surprised thinking it was cheap, went in to inquire and the guy says it was $500. I asked why the tag says $150 and he said that the tires were $150. I had to try really hard to hold myself from busting out laughing. Anyways I was still planning on buying one. I spoke to him for a couple minutes and decided on a 3 speed $550 one. He had none assembled so I was going to come back on Monday to pick one up. As I was walking out I told him, " hey maybe you should fix the price tag on the bike outside because its kind of misleading" he arrogantly replied that there was nothing wrong with the price tag and that it clearly states that its for the wheels only and not the whole bike. I figured its a waste to continue taking to him so I just walked out. Before I got in my car I went back and checked the tag closely. On one side it says $150 and in very small print it says "frm wls" on the other side it says $350. Still nowhere on the bike does it say $500. I decided to look online and found the same bike he wanted $500 for at Walmart for $249. In conclusion I would like to tell the owner thank you for lacking customer service skills and making me want to check elsewhere. I just saved over $250. And good luck with your business. Mr. Business owner.

If this place wasn't so close to my house, it would secure a fine 1-star rating, so good on the hyper-rad owners for renting nearby and not completely throwing your reputation through the spokes. All I want to do when I'm buying some rudimentary item like a tube is to see a smile, or a hello, and a "thank you see you again". What I don't need is some xgame hair-styled, tilted flat-brimmed uber-dude to act like he just designed and torqued the last injection valve on the hydrogen tanks for the space shuttle, when all he really did was finally find the right size hex-wrench to tighten the brake twine on some chick's beach cruiser. Oh, and by the way, next time you guys feel like pretending we've known each other for 10 years and tell me what a wuss I am for not changing my own tubes (which I only didnt this time because you sold me the wrong sized tubes in the first place), maybe you ought to make sure the bead goes on correctly so I dont have a flat the next day. I almost choked from the hubris after my first visit, but I guess I got vertigo and forgot about that experience, so I went back. Same thick atmosphere of smug, but this time I wore my polarized shades to see through it. Good thing the bike community is full of self-righteous pricks - business must be good

This is a nice shop, a bit out of the way for me but completely worth the trip. I knew what I was looking for going in or at least a general idea so the employees hit it off with me pretty well. They are passionate bicycle professional mechanics so they are most helpful when you can accurately convey your needs. I went into the shop looking for a replacement seat post and they found a higher end post than I was expecting but offered it at a reasonable price. I had questions about disc breaks and they took the time to not only find the parts but the adapters necessary and dry fitted them to my bike. Where the grand total was a little much for me to spend today Ill defiantly be returning to this shop over a closer shops just down the street. Their storefront is a little modest but inside the environment is very clean and modern and visually enticing even to the casual cyclist such as my self. All these great experience plus the fact that they are open Sundays; a rarity in bicycle shops in the valley! Five Stars!
