I normally use another vet, however they were closed since it was Black Friday. My nearly 11yr old boxer lost use of her hind legs thanksgiving night/early am. She was in no pain so I felt she had the hip thing boxers get and would need steroids. I contacted Heart of Dixie upon opening and was able to get a 10 am appt. The receptionist was beyond kind as I explained I was trying to find someone to help me get her to the car. I knew I was in good hands w the answers she gave. Upon arriving the wonderful lady doing the grounds and the great tech came and got Mattie inside. Dr Gambles came in and took her temp and examined with the care that only an animal lover could do. She let me know that it was probably more & that she had most likely thrown a clot, she then wasted no time w an iv. She came in & delivered the news & offered to 1st try X-ray to determine if she had a mass on her spleen. I asked the what if question while crying. & she calmly let me know that is why she told me then so I could be thinking about possible closure while grasping my hands w care. The X-ray results were what she suspected. The option of surgery would probably not bring a good ending for my older boxer. She told me to take my time, go make calls or whatever no one would take my exam room. I held Mattie as she went to sleep one last time & again was told to stay as long as I needed. You see I lost my 15 yr old jack Russell last thanksgiving so I was pretty upset. As I left I was told more than once by a new receptionist how sorry our meeting was under theses circumstances. I was so scared not being at my vet but could not ask for better. THANK YOU to Heart of Dixie and God Bless to you all Sorry for the long post

Im giving them 4 stars only because ive only been there once so far..however, my experience in this one trip was fantastic. I had a groupon for annual shots and needed to get my rescue kitten his first shots. They were WONDERFUL with him. I was a little nervous because of some of the unflattering views but my experience exceeded any expectations i had. The Vet took the time to allow my kitten to feel comfortable with her. I think he got 2 or 3 shots that day and it was the best experience ive had with any vet clinic anywhere with any animal. She instructed the tech to use a syringe to feed him wet food to keep him distracted while he got the shots. Without anyone touching him at all the vet was able to give him the shots and he didnt acknowledge it at all. He didnt flinch or meow or anything! I was shocked because hes usually skittish and timid and you would have never known he just got his shots. All the staff was pleasant and i got two small bags of hills food to take home at the end of the visit. This is the only service ive received from them and hes not due for more shots until later this summer but i felt really secure with them. Again i woukd give them 5 stars but ive only been once so i cant really say. But it was the best vet experience ive had!

Not worth your time or money! Took a small kitten that I rescued there because it was the only place open. When I got there they checked her out she was under weight, had worms, and "upper respiratory infection" they gave me medicine for the worms and upper respiratory infection told me to come back in a week. at first she was doing fine they also gave me some dry kitten food to feed her which actually made things worse at the end of the week two days before I was supposed to bring her back she got very ill and would not eat or drink I called them litterly the day before I got payed and told them she was basically dieing they wanted me to bring her in that day I told them is there anyway I could leave her over night until the next day when I get payed but they told me that their policy is against that and if I cant pay up front then I cant bring her in! Well the next day she was dead! Its sad to say that these people only care about money they werent worried about saving a kittens life like a vet should be!

After we found Muffin through a FB group a few weeks ago, we took her to Heart of Dixie Vet to be spayed. The surgery went fine and was supposed to cost about $100.00. Their policy is to keep a dog 24 hrs after surgery to "watch" them and make sure they are OK. While they were "watching" her, she pulled out her stitches and intestines and tore off a piece of her intestine, requiring additional surgery. I was called after the surgery and told what happened. The Vet said she would probably live and all I would be charged for was the spaying and additional supplies used. When we went to get her a week later we were told the bill was $500.00. I told them I had budgeted $100.00 dollars for the spaying and thats all I had and that even though I didnt feel I should pay for their negligence I would make payments on the rest. I was told if I dont pay the full amt. in 10 days they will "dispose" of her. This is my daughters baby and they refuse to release her. Please share this post to all of your friends.

Very professional, caring and knowledgeable Veterinarian. We have 3 dogs and 2 cats and take all of them there. They are experienced and will recommend care and procedures, with estimates up front. We had one of our dog neutered and boarded there, another one had to have a big mass removed and we get all our yearly check ups done there. Reasonable prices for both treatment and medication. If you want great and experienced care for your animal, this is the place for you. Additionally, they work with the local animal shelter and do a lot of work with the animals from there. You cant beat the experience and care that this clinic/Dr. Cathrine provides. We have lived all over the USA and world and this some of the best care our animals have received.

Pros: The doctor was nice Cons: The huge (and shameless) markup on your medications is outrageous! I was charged around $80 for 6 Heartgard tablets that cost around $52 everywhere else you can buy them, then for the 2 meds prescribed for the issue I actually brought my dog in for you DOUBLED the retail price on the medication! Make money off your superior service, not doubling the retail on the meds you use in treatment. Thats ridiculous! I hope if anyone goes here you look up the medicine online at places like 1800petmeds and see what the retail price is (Im sure a vet gets them even cheaper) and confront these people about the medication on your bill!

Had my dogs nails trimmed and he came back so sore and the next day was bruised . I called spoke with them, and they said he had to be held down, he is 12 lbs !!! REALLY !!!!! He was bruised for 3 weeks and couldnt jump on the furniture for almost a week. WE NEVER RETURNED !!! Now I see all over the news about this dog Muffin, and read all kinds of similar cases .... just sad.
