Ive been going to Petco for years, but as the years have gone by their customer service has gotten worse and worse. Im so disappointed that finding even 1 staff member for help is so difficult beyond belief. Having to go to the cashier counter for assistence is NOT what should be happening. Im going to also mention one experience I had just a few weeks ago. I have 2 leopard gecko that i bought FROM THEM who were BOTH skinny and kept in an improper habitat. Did I know this at the time? No and I was told by one of their reptile staff members that thats how they SHOULD be kept (with sand, no humidity, meal worm only meal, and 1 cricket every night). They misinformed me completely and both lizards were sick with parasites within 2 weeks and dehydrated even though i kept their water full 24/7. Thats unacceptable for people who claim to know and work with reptiles... I found myself researching on my own and thats how I realize just how uneducated their STAFF is... With new knowledge I remade my reptiles home, got them proper treament, and vitamin supplements. But the smaller one was struggling, he lost his tail and wasnt recovering as good as the other one. I researched more on how to tend to tail lost and acted on such, one article said i needed to feed them 2 wax worms a week. So in a desperate act to treat my lizard I decided to go to Petco after work to require wax worms. I ended up getting caught up and leaving an hour late, but still desperate I called Petco and asked "I am SO sorry to ask for this, but I bought 2 geckos from you and they are now sick. I was wondering if I could pick up some wax worms before you close? I know thats soon and you dont have to do this, I completely understand.." and the reply I got was immediately rude and immpatient... "Well yeah?! We close in 15 minutes?!" (Mind you Im about 10 minutes away) I replied remorsefully, "I know and I am so sorry. I said you dont have to do this... I have a job too I understand--" where then I was interrupted "Well?! What do you want?!" Again in SUCH a rude and angry tone and I repeated back "WAX WORMS!!!" and she said "Ok well?! Hurry!" and I apologized again and she hung up... I felt AWFUL but my lizard was malnourished due to their illness and dehydration taking away their apitite and weak because of tail lost.. I was hurrying to try and beat the clock but 9pm came around and I wasnt there.. Guilt came over me... I ended up calling them again and telling them "Nevermind. I dont want to keep you there later than you have to be. Im sorry." I was SO devistated and worried that my lizard might not make it through another night, but he did. Now, was I fully in the right?? Im not going to say "yeah totally" calling and making that request wasnt something I intended AT ALL (Petco is also literally the ONLY place near me that sells waxworms...) and it totally WAS asking for a lot, and I KNOW it sucks when you have to stay late at work because of ONE PERSON, but no matter HOW upset you are about the situation that is NOT how you treat a customer, especially one in distress and need, and in that circumstance because of YOUR STAFF/STORE. IT IS NOT ACCEPTABLE TO TALK TO A CUSTOMER LIKE THAT. Petco in Gadsden. Talk to your staff team SOON. Train them on their customer service skills before you get a serious call from cooperate. Im not tolerating another rude incident like this, I should have reporting that in the first place but Im more lenient than I should be sometimes. I dont want someone to have to put up with this ever again. So disappointed... Your old team use to be so much better.... I really cant explain my extreme distaste with your store now... Looks like Im not alone...

Ball pythons are my favorite animal, and Petco is notorious for having poor care. This one was no exception. Ball pythons were housed together (a big no-no), inaccurate humidity guages (two guages a foot apart from one another had readings 40% different from one another), and giving incorrect care information (temperature and humidity) to customers. These animals were dehydrated, skinny, and stressed out. This Petcos saving grace was that I actually found an employee who would humor my complaints. He initially tried to brush off my concerns with "oh we check them daily" and "hes skinny because hes a baby" and "well, this one is skinny because he just got out of the infirmary" but I explained that I HAVE ball pythons and ball pythons should never be skinny and ESPECIALLY not when theyre babies. Once he realized that I know a little something about the care of the animals, he humored me. He claimed that he would let the store manager know. Whether or not anything happens, I dont know. That snake was scarily skinny and dehydrated, and I hate Petco for treating them like a gold mine rather than a living, breathing animal with specific needs. They were mislabed as "rare" and grossly overpriced in an effort for the company to squeeze more money out of these animals. Company gets a 1 star. Employee who humored me earns points. I just want them to put the animals higher on their priority list.

As a reptile enthusiast, I wasnt exactly sure what to expect at a large chain pet store. The Petco in Gadsden, AL is hands down one of the best pet stores that Ive been to. All of the animals were healthy and being kept in the correct conditions. Some enclosures were a little sparse, but there were no signs of stress or disease in any of the animals. The variety of pets and products is the one of the best that Ive ever seen. I was very impressed, and I look forward to visiting at this location again.

being able to bring in my pets are a bigtime plus.. animals r like babies to.. way nicer than timberlake pet world. even have where u can adopt u a pet.. which is also a great choice.. love to give a baby a home !!! also they have everything u need for ur pet:) very nice employess unlike timberlike pet world in RBC.. SO MY ADVICE IS PETCO IS CHEAPER N WAY BETTER CLEANIER PLACE TO HAVE UR PETS GROOMED !!! AND GET WHAT THEY NEED.. REMEMBER UR BABIES R SPECIAL..:) TREAT HEM WITH GREAT CARE!!! AT PETCO

The folks in the grooming salon are the best!!!!! Our dog hates having his nails trimmed. He had a very bad experience at one of the "other" chains. The folks at this location of Petco are totally patient and willing to take the time to gain trust. It makes such a huge difference. If you need grooming for your pet, I recommend Petco Gadsden very highly.

Im rating it as a 1 star because I had to rate something in order to leave a review. Customer service is awful, I was in the store for 10 minutes, no one greeted me or even asked if I needed help, after 2 associates walked pass me as if I was a display. I left and I will NEVER return. Pet smart is my new pet store.

It is almost impossible to get any help in this store. After having the cashier page a worker to help, on three different occasions, I waited over 20 minutes before finally leaving each time. I refuse to shop here anymore and will buy my supplies off amazon and my fish from Langs
