VeloCity changed owners this year and now it has a wonderful fresh new and fun feel. The new owners recently moved locations and the location on River Ave in Holland is beautiful. The interior of the building is amazing and has a very modern look! The people working always have a smile on their faces and greet you when you enter. Since the new owners have taken over, the store emphasizes not only more advanced cycling gear but also items for the family. There are bicycles for kids, young adults, adults, and for people on all different walks of life! The store seems committed to making the experience that you have a great one. The shop also has a knowledgable staff that is available to help you with whatever questions you might have. They also have a very experienced mechanic staff as well. They have nightly rides for all different experience levels in the summer, and I recently saw that they will be doing trainer rides this winter in their new store. Having been in the store prior to the ownership change I am excited to say that they are more welcoming than ever. This will for sure be my go to store for any of my cycling needs.

Their staff is knowledgeable about everything from the complete bikes they sell down to one-off items that can only be sourced direct from the manufacturer. Their service department not only does great work, but they do it quickly; turnaround times are often only a few hours or a day or two vs. up to two weeks at other local shops. Theyre also no BS - theyll sell you the right bike for you, whether its a $300 commuter or a $5,000+ racing rig - and you still get the same time, attention, and expertise from their staff when buying the $300 bike as you will the $5,000+ bike. A recent change is the new ownerships desire to make cycling a more inclusive activity. Theyve diversified their product lineup to offer something for everyone (including kids), regularly hold family-themed rides, and even introduced shop-led womens specific rides and leisure rides. As a parent, I especially appreciate these changes since it allows me to engage my young children in the cycling community in a way that wasnt possible previously.

I was out for a ride last Monday afternoon when my front derailleur seized up. I was only 3 blocks from VCCs new location, so I ended up turning around & rode over to the new shop. Within 20 minutes, I was back on the road, with a new front derailleur (& a couple new cables), to continue my ride. The mechanics stopped working on another bike to take care of my needs, so I could get back on the road to enjoy the fall weather as quick as possible. I have been in the market for a new bike ever since my wife told me that I could get a new bike for Christmas. After the service I received last week, I knew that VCC is where I would go for my next bike. I have been to the shop a couple of times since to test ride different bikes. Each time the staff has made some quick adjustments to each bike to fit my riding posture, making each bike comfortable to ride. I know the staff will help me get the right fit as I make the final decision on my next bike.

I brought my bike in to get serviced and was very pleased at the way it was riding afterward. The technicians were very attentive to detail and made sure to complete all of the many requested repairs unlike other shops I have dealt with. They really went above and beyond and even detailed the frame. The prices were very fair, and I was pleased with everything overall. The shops owners are very active in the cycling community and the community at large, supporting and hosting events throughout the year. I have attended several of these events and always had a good time. You can tell the owners are good people. This is all not to mention co-owner Brad White is a professional cyclist! I am very happy with the bike that I own, but the selection at this shop makes me very tempted to buy a new bike. They have everything from top of the line road bikes, mountain bikes, kids bikes, fat tire bikes, commuter bikes and everything in between.

They were very friendly and asked if they could keep my bike for the week which might be fine for the casual rider. I said I was hoping to get it back with the repairs the same day. The man that inspected it said hed try but couldnt promise and quoted me for repairs around 150$. He said he would surely has it ready the next day. I ended up taking the bus home and about an hour after getting home I got a call from him saying my bike was ready to be picked up. I was so happy and impressed; I didnt expect it to be done until the following afternoon. I think he understood how much I needed my bike and put a rush on it. When I picked it up the woman working the register helped me shop for some other needed items. She was knowledgeable and friendly. The repairs were just slightly over $140 which was under the $150 quote. The entire ride home was smooth sailing. Thanks Velocity, you have a solid customer now.

Went there looking to get my daughter fitted for a bike and possibly buy one. When we walked into the store we were the only ones in the store with two employees. Nobody greeted us or asked if we needed help, they were just standing around talking. So had to go get one and asked how you fit a youth for a bike. She replied sarcastically I dont know just have her get on one. Found a bike that she kinda liked, but needed the seat and handle bars adjusted. Never offered to adjust it or if she wanted to test ride it. We left discouraged and wont ever go back! Im local of Holland and will relay the lack of customer service and knowledge to all my friends and anyone else that will listen. It was a total waste of my time!

A few years ago I had a similar experience, as another reviewer mentioned. I was looking to buy my first FS mountain bike with 2k in hand to spend. Took the bike out for a spin. The shifting was not right, and I need some adjustments. The guy helping me would not making adjustments, so I went to Alger in Grand Rapids, where they were more than happy to help me out. I have been mountain biking for over sixteen years, I have met "bike snobs" at races and on the trails. My personal take is this, I dont care what kind of bike you ride, Im just happy to see more people on bikes.

I must say, I have had a wonderful experience with the team over at Velo. I have know Brad and Jenny for a number of years, and they are nothing but a class act. Brad is incredibly knowledgable about the field and cares about his customers and biking more so then he does just making a quick buck. He is committed to the racing and riding scene in Holland and is a huge asset to the larger lakefront community. I would have no recommendations recommending them to anyone looking for a bike, a tune-up, or an opportunity train. One of the better shops in all of West. Michigan.
