I was looking for a place to start my shopping for a new home theater system, and I found the one and only place that I will ever shop for A/V equipment again. I like to do business locally if I can, and Ben made it easy to make that decision. I live in Rockford IL about an hour away from Madison and Chicago and I will not make that trip to Madison every time I need audio equipment. I brought a dozen or so CDs, played with the receivers and speakers until I found what I wanted. Ben was always available, but not breathing down my back. He let me audition everything at my own pace without stepping in on my listening. Furthermore, I had a reasonable budget and he helped me get what I wanted within that budget. He didnt try to tell me what sounded better, he let me make that decision and didnt try to talk me into something more expensive. In fact, he talked me OUT of spending money by telling me that I wouldnt really see much of a benefit by purchasing a certain accessory. Anyone who tells me to put away my wallet has my trust instantly - and thats Ben. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

I had failed to achieve great or optimal sound from my Mozart Grand high end speakers until I worked with Ben who had the knowledge, experience and ear. Adding the right cable product( Blue Heaven) turned my Magnolia store system into the dream sound I had never achieved over the last 40 years. I only wish I had started my search at this store. Even though this is a local business he has national level discount pricing options. I say Good Bye to Best Buy- Magnolia. Knowlegable staff is the single most important need for the amateur consumer.Bye the way, I did not find this level of knowledge at other stores in Madison

Great local audio shop Im a fan of Grado headphones and the owner Ben was gracious enough to let me bring in my own gear and privately listen to a pair of top model Grado headphones on one of his high end CD systems. I had some pleasant conversation with him as well. Id highly recommend University Audio if youre in the market for some good audio or home theater gear, and its the only good local option for Grado headphones.

This guy does it all and makes you feel like youre the most important client he has. Ben & Evie have been fixtures at this location for years. This small business is able to succeed in the big box world through knowledge, service and an integrity that is admirable. I was having trouble stripping cable wire to set up my speakers and decided to see if University Audio could help me. They stripped my wire for me in less than five minutes and refused to accept money for doing so. They were happy to do it and just wanted to help me be able to listen to my music. Id recommend this place highly and appreciate their kindness!

These guys are the best. If you want an honest recommendation go see them first. Shop around and I guaranty you will be back. While the other independent shops in Madison are reputable (Ive supported most) Ben, Steve & Dave are at the top of my list for educational support.
