While checking out, the cashier’s computer froze after I swiped my card and no receipt was printed. After waiting for 10 minutes before a manager assisted the cashier, she asked me for my debit card to see if the transition was processed at the customer service desk. In the mean time I checked my bank account on my phone to see if the transition was processed through my bank. Sure enough the transaction was showing on my bank account. I then spoke with the general manager, Gary, and showed him my phone and that it had been processed through my bank. The manager came back and informed me that the transaction never went through on the Menards computers, but surely it had because my bank showed the exact amount for todays date from Menards. I was then told that I could not take the merchandise because it was never processed, but it was since it was deducted from my bank account. I was then told that since it was never processed I was never charged. Then how was the money deducted from my bank? To make a long story short, I left the store with no merchandise, about an hour of wasted time, gas money to get there, and no receipt. They told me to just check out at another register if I wanted the merchandise! In other words I would pay double the original cost. I was very disappointed with the service and there wasn’t even an apology. They acted as if it was my fault and I was inconveniencing them. I will go out of my way to never shop at Menards again. The only reason they received a 1 star rating in my review is because it is my only option and the cashier was very friendly.

Very unsatisfied with the customer service rep who suggested to return the large shipping box to (the yard) next time. Maybe they should put that on the receipt. Then telling us we couldnt return a certain item at this store because we bought it at a different location. When I said that was "BS". He told me " I didnt have to be so rude." Then he said there would be a $25 restocking fee for that item, because it was a ( special order item) And it was not, they were out. So we had to return when they got more in. The Madison location has rude and lazy workers. Ive never heard of such nonsense. Were live half way between Baraboo, Platteville and Madison. I guess will only be doing our shopping at Platteville or Baraboo. In the lumber yard to pick up our large orders. NO ONE helped us. Didnt even say "hi". As were struggling with heavy sheets of drywall, way up over our heads. 2 forklift guys, just keep passing by. I went to the next bay to get the insulation and both guys were there. Neither of them acknowledged me. Lazy, and unfriendly. Now at the Platteville and Baraboo locations. Weve NEVER had to load our stuff by ourselves.

Wow! This place has awesome customer service. I had some stuff I needed to return and I had no problems doing the return. To top it off they recycle old T8 light bulbs at no cost, much better than having them pile up in the garage.... The madison west store has great associates, I was extremely impressed by Kelsey who was working super hard back in the grocery department, after talking to her for a little bit, it is very apparent she loves her job and has a vast amount of product knowledge. She was by far the most friendly person that I have ever met while shopping at Menards.. All of the associates that I spoke to really seemed to care about helping the customer and keeping the store in tip top shape. I use to be an advid Home Depot advocate, but after todays visit, I will be a loyal Menards convert.

This stores online service is terrible. I ordered 2 LED light bulbs online, to be picked up at the store. The bulbs were on sale online, but it turns out that the bulbs were on sale in the store too. The same price. I was charged a $1.40 processing fee for the online purchase. No one else I do business with charges a fee like this. At the store, it was hard to find the online purchase pickup area. It is not clearly marked. I picked up the 2 light bulbs... I got to my car only to discover 1 light bulb was broken. I had to go back inside and waste time exchanging the defective bulb. The best advice here is: Go right to the store to start with rather than even screwing around with Menards online sales.

I was doing some custom plumbing work on my aquarium. I needed to replace a pvc pipe that was broken. Came in with my old piece and even stop at the service desk to get a stick showing that the piece was mine. As I was walking out after paying I was stopped by security and accused of stealing the pvc pipe. I showed them it was old and even had a sticker on it. I gave them a 1 star because the security guy should of been 100 % sure i had shoplifted before stopping me in front of the public and making a scene. I was embarrassed and will not shop there again

Product wise I prefer Menards over the others. Employee wise this place is awful. Its like they hire brain dead zombies that cant count past three. If you ask them a question that isnt within their pre-programmed script they lose thier minds. I asked a question five times in a row before a manger walked up and said "Yes, your right". Its like the employee didnt want to admit they had no idea what I was asking of them. In the end I walked out and bought the product at Home depot for $50 less since they wouldnt price match special orders.

As part of a renovation project, Ive bought kitchen cabinets, countertops, and hardwood flooring at this store. The selection is great, but what really impressed me the most is the service. Mark patiently help my wife and I design a new kitchen using their software, providing us alternatives at every step of the way, and showing us 3D models of what our choices would look like. He listened carefully to our needs and made suggestions to help us choose quality components at reasonable prices.

This store was much larger inside than it appeared to be from out of doors. There are tons of supplies and equipment for every conceivable home project and remodeling effort. The customer service was pretty exceptional; the store was well-organized, with helpful signage. Checking out was a little bit awkward because the clerk is actually on the same side of the belt as the customer. Still, it was a breeze to checkout and get going. Tons of parking available in the lot.

Menards Madison West is always friendly and helpful. In store employees almost always have answers to questions, if they dont, they know who does. In store employees are quick to drop what they are doing to help you get what you need. Lumberyard people are also eager to help you get what you need and out of the yard as soon as possible. Need to be careful in the lumberyard as not all materials are of highest grade/quality.

Great variety, good prices. Would be 5 stars except for the fact that I open every box before I leave the parking lot to make sure it contains what it is supposed to. I am a contractor and the two contractors I work with most and myself have purchased so many things from Menards and found a different item in the sealed, unopened box that we now refer to that phenomenon as getting Menarded, regardless of where it may occur.
