Horrible service. I was traveling to Lake Geneva with some friends and walked into the Board Shop. I saw a sweatershirt that I loved. I was skeptical because it was bright and had a vintage/washed look and was worried that the dye may leak when washing. I asked the associate at the register and they assured me it was a great brand and not to worry - but to play it safe I should wash it separately. I bought the sweatshirt and washed it seperately. I wore it only to find the dye rubbed off on the white tank I was wearing underneath. I loved this sweatshirt and washed it 4 more times.... still the same problem. I called the store and asked for the owner but he was not available. Instead, I had a so-called "manager" speak to me. I explained what had happened and asked what I could do. Instead of properly asking clarifying questions or even showing any sort of empathy he said "well that is just the sweatshirt and if you have a problem call the manufacturer directly it is not the stores problem." WOW! Really makes me want to shop there again! (NOT!) I left the conversation very frustrated because the "manager" was rude and accused me of yelling at him? Ridiculous. I would think a manager would be far more helpful, be able to handle an unhappy customer in a more professional manner, and not be so overly sensitive. Overall, this store obviously does not stand behind the merchandise they carry and the employees that work here are not trained well at all.

Bill Gill, I have had an identical experience to you. I was sold equipment that did not fit properly and was not installed properly and missing equipment. I was not knowledgeable regarding ski equipment so I was reliant on the information that was provided to me by the representative. Jayson was extremely slow to return calls or did not return calls at all. When I finally spoke with him after contacting the better business bureau more time was spent arguing with me regarding his call backs, what happened with the equipment before even seeking to understand what had occurred. I have picture evidence of the bindings that were improperly installed missing pieces on the skis. The boot shells were two sizes too big. Again, I reiterate that I asked the representative to take care of me because I do not know how to size the equipment. I learned about the mistreatment when my girlfriend and I visited another ski shop. When Jayson and I had spoke he called the other ski shop "Liar" although the other ski shop made no attempt to sell me other equipment. This is shop by far and Jayson in particular does not value service. He values being right and arguing with the customer and is by far one of the most poor experiences I have ever had.

I could use words like "great" and "exceptional" to describe the service and prices but you would probably glaze over them as i do when I read reviews. I have tried to write this review a couple times and it always gets way too long trying to include all the things I want to say about this shop and the hip folks that run it. Seriously, these people know their stuff. They dont just sell the stuff, they research it and ride it. If you go there you just may be schooled on board geometry and what is good for you by a petite little girl like I did. Humility aside, I got my head right and listened to her and bought the best board i have ridden ever (Bataleon Evil Twin). She and the other staff were more than happy to open early the next day so that I could pick up my new board and get a full day ride. THEY CAME IN EARLY SO I COULD GET A LONGER DAYS RIDE! Who does that?!?! Oh and the price of this level service...they had the best prices of anywhere, yes even the Internet. I got a bit lucky with a sale and all, but so could you. These are regular folks that love their shop. The web-site is terrible but call them or stop in. You will be happy you did.

We had a terrible experience with Jason Rishling and the Board Shop. My son purchased a new wake board and bindings. I feel we paid more than what we would have paid if we had gone on-line, however my son was offered a "satisfaction guarantee" for the board. He never received anything in writing, but counted on the verbal representations made by Jason, the owner. A very long story short, in my opinion, the terms of the "guarantee" kept changing and when my son finally received the board he wanted, he was expecting a $200 store credit and we never received it. Jason was slow to return my calls and when I finally spoke with him, he indicated that he cared about our satisfaction, but the terms under which he would offer any credit kept changing. To date we have received no credit at all and I am no longer interested in wasting any more of my time pursuing it. This rates as one of the worst customer experiences I have ever had. Bill

Great Service!! Very helpful! I came in looking for a fall jacket and the employees were very good about getting sizes and making sure I saw everything before making a decision. Not pushy what so ever! Reasonable prices and great selection!! They helped me pick out new a snowboard set up and answered all my questions so when I come back in this winter I know exactly what to get! Recommend this store highly!

soooo terrific! Incredibly helpful and friendly! I bought the wrong size for my grandson and took it with me to visit him. I called them to tell them I might not be returning it for more than 30 days. They said "no problem", found me the right size while I was on the phone with them, and mailed it out here (Massachusetts) the same day!! They are the only place in town with really cool stuff for boys!

This place is absolutely fantastic. The staff is knowledgeable and extremely helpful. The owner,Jayson is absolutely fantastic! We drove up from the Chicago area on the recommendation of friends who bought their ski gear there. It was absolutely worth the trip. I would recommend this shop to anyone who needs ski or snowboard gear.

The WORST service I went in just to grab a new jacket and after standing at the counter for over 20 minutes I just left no employee even appeared to be there maybe they were in back but with the door having a bell on it you would think they could get off thief lazy butts just to do a check out. NEVER GOING BACK

Great shops like this are few and far between. If youre looking for great advice and getting the right set up for both snow and wake, this is the best place in the Chicago area. Highly recommend.

One of the best selections around for wakeboarding/surfing. Super knowledgeable staff helped my family pick out tons of great gear for our new boat. Highly recommend this shop.
