I love Shepherdstown and therefor shop with local merchants as much as possible. However, the person who mostly staffs this store is heinous when it comes to customer service. I believe his name is Jamie and he is also the mechanic. He may be a great mechanic but he is quite rude and abrupt in his communication style. I have gone into the shop on several occasions wanting to spend money only to be cut off by his unwillingness to sell me what I want. One time I wanted to rent a canoe and he told me he was too busy (I was the only person in the shop at the time). Yesterday I went by to ask about getting different tires for my bike and he told me new tires (slick road tires as opposed to the knobby ones the bike came with) would not make a difference to my bikes road performance. I called back today to ask about the availability of slick road tires and once again he cut me off, saying he had no idea what I needed and goodbye. Soooo...I called The Bike Doctor in Frederick and they spoke with me in a polite and informative manner, telling me the options and the prices like I was the potential customer that I am, and BAM! 3 minutes later the deal is DONE! A little courtesy and a few minutes time make all the difference between alienating potential buyers and making a happy new customer.

A great experience. I was on a bike trip with 19 Boy Scouts touring Antietam this weekend when one of the boys had a pedal break off the crank on his bike. We took the bike to Shepherdstown Pedal and Jamie was able to immediately fix the bike for us and allow me to get our Scout back on the road with the rest of his Troop in under a half hour. He even tuned up the shifting to get the bike running better than when it came into the shop as a brand new Christmas gift bike. Cant thank the guys at the shop enough for saving the day for us and at a great price on top of that.

Words cant express what a great place this is. My father is a disabled veteran who was on a bike trip in the area and had a cable snap on his specially adapted bike. He went to Peddle & Paddle and they fixed it immediately for him while he waited. Then, they thanked him for his service to his country and sent him on his way not wanting to be paid for the service. I recommend this place to anyone and everyone, its a special place and hope they get business reciprocated back 1000 times for this kind deed.

A friend and myself were biking the GAP trail and towpath from Pittsburgh to DC. I got a hole in my tire 5 miles south of Williamsport. Because the bike shop in Williamsport was not open, I called Shepherdstown Pedal & Paddle. An employee, Leslie, drove out and met me on the trail to deliver a new tire to me! This saved our trip because we were on a schedule to get to DC. Definitely a bike shop with great employees willing to help people out. I cant recommend them enough.

I went to the shop this morning because my bicycle had a flat tire. I was prepared to leave my bike. Jamie helped get my bike out of the car, said it would be done in 45 minutes. I was very pleasantly surprised. He quickly fixed the tire and even put the bike back into my car for me. He was kind, efficient and very very nice. This bike shop is the ONLY one for me. if there were 10 stars, I would give them 20. Many thanks, Jamie.

Best LBS in 75 miles radius. Owner replies to emails rapidly; rest of the crew is knowledgeable, kind and efficient. They may not carry all the variety of products like Performance, but they will get you all the right stuff, and explain what and why and how. Great place ! ( and they do service and deal with boats as well... ) so if you bicycle or paddle, that is the place to visit.

Had my chain pop while riding from Pittsburgh to DC on the Great Allegheny Passage and C&O near Shepherdstown this past month. Walked to Pedal and Paddle where Jamie quickly fixed the chain in a few minutes to get me back on my way. The store was well stocked and had enthusiastic and knowledgeable staff. Not much more you could ask for in a bike shop.

Eddie and his team have worked on our bikes for years. Every time has been an excellent experience from the customer service weve received to the quality of work performed. Prices are all very reasonable for the quality of products. I will not be going anywhere else. Love the feeling of supporting a great local business!

Great place, extremely helpful. Fixed a bad tire on my pedelec bike quickly and affordably that allowed me to continue a long bike trip. Even directed me to a great coffee place while I waited.

The bike rentals were a bit pricey, but they offered high end trail bikes. The management was very helpful. Shepherdstown is a good starting point for a C&O and Antietam ride.

Small little shop has everything youll need. Kayak and bike rentals too. They are also conveniently open later on Saturday unlike other bike shops in the area
