I generally dont take the time to write a review, and the times I have, its to make sure someone gets the credit they deserve. Never have I written a bad review but I am completely compelled to do so this time. This Michaels in Tacoma near the mall is not bad at customer service, they are straight out HORRIBLE. I had seen the reviews for bad customer service in the past, but I tuned that to just a bad experience and always give it the benefit of the doubt. Well, they failed here and I should have not wasted my time. Nor will I ever go back or recommend another Michaels to anyone. I walked to the back of the very messy store (that should have been my 1st clue that no one cared) to where the frames are. I became very excited because they had bright orange tags hanging on all the shelves that stated their frames were 50% off. I was looking to get about 10 frames as I do photography. So I picked out a rather large assortment of frames going well of the original qty. when the checker rang me up with her bad attitude from the start at $115, I immediately stated that the frames were all marked at 50% off. she didnt even pause or look back down at the product when she stated very abruptly "not these ones". I then began to state that the label said "all frames 50% off" she gave me an overwhelming sigh and one of her coworkers overheard and said in another condescending tone that she would go check. Now here is where it gets really good because she didnt come over to our register or anything to even check which frames we bought, she just walked off, maybe got back to where the frames were and then turned around and came back to the front of the store and stated "ya, none of those are on sale". I actually started laughing out loud and called them both out on the fact that I had multiple different brands, styles and sizes and she didnt even know which ones I had had. The lady in line behind us started arguing with the two checkers saying that the signs were posted all over the place not specifying which brands were on sale. the two checkers did not care one bit and gave my wife and I an unsatisfied look as if to say "well, do you want them or not?" at that point (before my wife started swinging) we left all of our merchandise at the counter and walked away. The bad thing is, I was prepared to spend that much that day for frames if I wanted to, but the way Michaels "takes care of the customer" will insure I will never be back.

Good location and fantastic selection of items. I have a hard time imaging they dont have what you need for that crafting hobby you might have. I gave 3 stars because the line to have fabric cut was ridiculous and because the one employee I asked for help basically pointed me in the direction I needed to go. She put almost no effort in helping me to locate the item I was searching for other than to shrug her shoulders and say they probably have it somewhere. Bad service is not ok. If the person had tried harder and still couldnt find the item, Id have given 5 stars.

They said that all the beads were plastic or glass, not crystals or gemstones, and the labels on the beads said jasper or quartz etc. Then when I asked treated me like an invalid. Ive been studying gemstones for years and was disappointed in the lack of knowledge, plus its Tacoma..bad vibes. And Ive never written a review before. Just felt like I would buy anything there or go back. Id rather make the drive to shipwreck beads.

this place does not care about their employees at all. They get rid of all the employees with the best customer service, so i strongly suggest going to Joanns or Hancock Fabrics if you need anything craft related. They force employees to quit. The Tacoma Michaels is simply a bad place to spend your money. It should be shutdown.

I dont know whats wrong with this Michaels. I grew up in the mid-west and Michaels was always the go to place for a nicer arts and crafts store. This store however is much more like a Hobby Lobby. I feel cheap when Im in here. They have what I need, but there is just something off about this place.

Located just NW of Tacoma Mall in its own plaza, this branch of Michaels is pretty thorough with all the major departments covered. The prices at Michaels are incredibly inflated - dont buy unless you have a coupon or items are on sale!

Reasonable prices, terrible customer service. The guy I talked to on the phone sounded like he was dead inside - I am too, yknow? I work retail too but were not supposed to make it anyone elses problem.
