I took my bike here for spring maintenance. First off, he took 8-9 more weeks then he originally stated it would take. It wasnt longer only because I had to call to get t no on and get updates. The first time it was due to be ready, I had to call him after two weeks because he doesnt well track his orders. He seems like a skilled guy, but he is overwhelmed and unorganized. He forgot many of the things I asked him to check and, as such, it broke down again on the first ride. Avoid until he gets more help and proves he can be organized. Had he accepted these faults when I approached him about it, I would been more accepting. Instead, he defended his delays and just had a mountain of excuses. Not very professional response! As a clarification, this service was done spring of 2015 and I repaired the gear sprocket and chain at Gerks. I did this as I needed whatever time left in the season to not be lost a second time. The rest of the work done on the bike was done right and well. I have no complaints about the quality of the workmanship, but the reliability and organizational aspects associated with his service. As I said before, he needs more help and needs to be more honest about his timelines. Then this could be a first rate shop

I am new to downhill mountain biking-predominantly was a x-country rider. Went to discuss armor and protection and Adam, shop owner, was very gracious with his time and obviously very knowledgeable. With zero pressure, he guided me and gave me on all my options. He also spent another 30 minutes of his time on advice for a bike I purchased elsewhere on things to consider. He offer to help me set up suspension correctly and gave great suggestions for improving my experience at park riding. A customer who also was there was great too at helping, showing the camaraderie and mindset of the shop Adam has created . I will go back to Adam for his expertise and I highly encourage others to support the local shops and expertise like Adam adds to this sport. Great to know this expertise is in our backyard!

Ive been a Downhill Zone customer for 11 years now. I live in Sammamish and used to make the 20 mile trip to the University District just to have DHZ work on my bikes. Now that the shop is in my neighborhood i couldnt be happier. Adam the owner is meticulous when servicing my bikes. He is very knowledgeable on parts and components to help with my constant upgrades. He has never given me attitude for buying used frames that I bring in to have built up, only the feeling that he understands my needs and takes care of my bikes as if they were his own. I am always informed on the service time that will be required especially if parts need to be ordered. A huge thanks to the Downhill Zone for putting up with me and taking care of my rides.

In today’s market that offers such extensive choices of high performance mountain bikes and components, it isn’t always immediately obvious that many configurations are compromised by poor fit, inappropriate parts, and improper workmanship. Adam’s extensive experience in bike set-up, custom building, and years of riding enables him to produce a truly superior range of bikes that are simply perfect for their intended purpose. Adam’s obsessive attention to the practical detailing, rideability, and durability of every bike reflects an unrivaled ability and appreciation of each rider’s needs. This level of attention and expertise is truly unique to Downhill Zone.

I cant reccommend this shop enough. I went in as a beginner on a shoestring budget and a box of parts. Adam helped me build the perfect bike for me, even when it required some serious creativity to make what I had/could afford work well. He went above and beyond by patiently teaching me a ton in the process and getting my bike done lickedy split. High quality service in every aspect.

I came up from AZ to ride and broke my derailleur in the first 20 minutes of my ride...crushed. went to the shop, which was closed, but the guy let me in and agreed to replace it on the spot! Saved my ride day and all the travel I had to do to get there. Cant say enough good things about this place, he definitely went out of his way to help me out. Thanks again for the help!

Poor service and crappy attitude from one guy there. Ill take my business elsewhere as there are many many better bike shops than this place in the area. I was just hoping to support a local shop, but apparently they have too many customers and need to trim down. Maybe I got the guy on a bad day or something, but that doesnt mean you can treat a customer like crap!

The only guy (shop) in Seattle that will work on my bike as his own with care and detail and he actually knows his stuff. He is a non-captive parts dealer who can source and recommend the best components rather than being tied to a restrictive dealer contract. Go here for choice, better stuff and meticulous service.

A true mountain bike shop. The dude knows what hes talking about. Honestly there arent a lot of places to get parts or service done on real deal MTBs anymore and its awesome to have one in issaquah Dropper posts, suspension, brakes, bearing vs bushing questions... This is the place!

Top notch service, Adam was able to squeeze my bike in on a race week. That alone means a lot to me. Highly recommended. Downhill Zone and Big Tree Bikes are both the best shops in town for anyone whos going big.

Best in the west! Adam knows mountain biking inside out and as an independent gives you an honest assessment rather than a sales job. Been going to DHZ for more than a decade and always well taken care of.
