I purchased a $20 outdoor light 30 days ago. The connector went bad, and the little plastic lens became spider cracked after a slight freeze. I went to simply exchange the light at the Federal Way Home Depot, and a customer service rep gave me quite a hassle, even though I wanted to simply exchange the item. He called his Manager, Bea. However, unbelievable to me, they made me stand there, with maybe 3 other customers in the entire store, for 15 minutes while Bea "made" her way to the counter. He had to call her twice. She then claimed that the item must be in sellable condition to make an exchange, even though the store return guideline specifically stated (as copied from the Home Depot web site terms too): Returns within 90 days of purchase and with a valid sales receipt will be exchanged, refunded in cash, credited to your account or refunded via The Home Depot store credit. Even though I stood there staring at this exact sign in large orange letters, she continued to argue with me while I was holding my defective outdoor light - and actually refused to exchange it for a working light!! Wow! Just for curiosity, I pulled a report off my quickbooks that I keep for my personal accounting, and will note that I have spent $29,786 over the past 3 years in various purchases and home improvements, including a patio set, and a generator. Do not shop at Home Depot - totally unacceptable experience and they have lost a customer for life.

I was moving into a new house and I wanted to take the blinds from the old house to the new house. However some would need to be cut down to fit the new windows. I took one of the blinds to Home Depot in Federal Way. Without even looking at the blind in my hand he said no. I asked why. He said they were to big and that the mechanism was inside would no longer work if they were cut down. Again never even touched or looked at the blind I had in my hand. So I left very unhappy. The following weekend my 17 year old nephew came over and siad that he could cut the blinds and make them work. By that afternoon I had old blinds in my new house they fit and worked. Funny that my 17 year old could do what Home Depot said was impossible. All I can say is lack of customer srvice. They could have done it and they could have charged my 50 bucks and I would have paid. We are in the middle of a resetion and every company should be helping out in any way they can so when this resetion is over the cusomers return to the place that helped the most. Well I for one will be taking my business to Lowes. I can see a ripoff when I see one. Their sign should say "Warning Aholes at work".

All of the other reviews on here that state "Poor to Fair" Customer Service, are absolutely correct!! 100% I have had so many encounters with employees who dont want to take the time to work with me, who are not knowledgeable enough to be in the position/department where theyre stationed, and who appear to be down right lazy! I am not a fan of name-calling, but I feel an obligation to tell it like it is (I always appreciate an honest review, if it can help me avoid a bad experience). What baffles me, is that the manage is really nice/helpful/knowledgeable. I read a review that said the managers name was Bea, but when Ive called, Ive spoken with a male. Anyway, he is always nice and apologetic when I tell him, in detail, about my poor experiences. So...if the manager is great, then why are the employees consistently underperforming?? Im not sure, but Ive had enough. Unfortunately, the next closes Home Depot, isnt all that close, but Id rather go there...

The current staff here is way better than other locations. Im in a home improvement store three times a week working on remodeling projects for my job and this is my favorite store out of all of them simply because so many of these people are willing to go out of their way to help out. Its not just because Im a regular customer, Im always seeing people I dont know who are just as helpful and attentive and it continues to surprise me. This place must have a really great hiring manager. I do have to say that Dave in plumbing has saved me thousands of dollars just by sharing his extensive knowledge.

UPDATE: 07/20/2016 - worse experience ever! I was placing an order at the Special Services desk and DONNA didnt accept my competitor coupon even though Home Depot honors competitor coupons. I asked to speak to a manager and employee Donna said "well.. You cant get one...". Someone should teach Donna some manners! This is my favorite Home Depot location. Staff puts more effort into their work, love the clearance sections wish more merchandise was put on clearance more often. Oh and Staff Member Madeline has an awesome sense of humor. Whenever I see her here it always brightens my day.

I went to Home Depot to find a freezer for my mom and 5 workers did not get up and help me when I asked them where the 3 cubic freezers were and they pointed in a unclear direction " its over there " and I searched for it three times but I still couldn’t find it so I asked one more time and they did the same thing and so I asked them "Can you get up and show me then? " and one of the girls had an audacity to roll her eyes and right as I was leaving the girl asked me “Did you want it?” I told her “No, I’m going to Lowe to buy it.”

Ordered a new stove, I filled out the order form online. I got back home later and they left a message saying they couldnt deliver it within the hours I gave them (they said nothing about this on their website). So I called and was on the phone for 30 minutes trying to tell them no one will be at the house before 2pm. They wouldnt accept it until finally they talked to the manager and just gave us a date without asking us first, 1 week from the day I called. So now I have to move around their schedule. What a joke.

Home Depot is my go to place when I am doing DIY beginner projects and things I know how to do. I have been trying to do what I can. The classes that I have been to there have been informative and can now replace electric switches and outlets. Just wish they still carried their DYI books. I managed to get some (Plumbing, Wiring, Tiling, and Home Improvement) just as they they removing them.

Store is small, crowded. Up on asking, staff guided me to a wrong aisle. Occasionally staff asks if you need help but seems to Noone knows the answer including the manager. Very frustrated to waste couple of hours of my valuable time with very little results....

Rented equipment here, charged a fee worth 75% of the rental because I didnt spray it down with a hose. Cleaning fee not disclosed by staff at time of rental. Went elsewhere to get my other supplies, very poor customer experience.

There was 5 at least employees that helped me right away on getting a tool box down from the shelf from the beginning to putting it in the back of my truck. I still got more stuff I need to get at home depot and Ill do it here also
