I was a loyal customer buying small things here and there, until my car battery went dead and I came there to buy one of those battery chargers that help jump-start. They recommended to buy a wrong one, the kind which requires to take off the battery and charge it at home overnight. Now, I am not exactly a handywoman... I mean, dont get me wrong, I do know how to open the hood, but do I look like someone who owns a wrench? I brought it back unused. The manager refused to take it back, rather unapologetically. I just left the gadget on the managers desk as a small token of appreciation of his wonderful customer service and left, with the idea of not coming again. You cant beat the convenience of a local hardware store though, so a month later I talked to the owner, she did refund the money and here I am upgrading this review to 4 stars. The morale: if you have a return, just go to the onwer, she is reasonable and in store most of the time.

Lived on Mercer Island as a renter for the better part of a decade and this was always my go-to hardware store. The most important feature of the store is the staff, they have always been helpful to me, and I pretty much always need help finding something. Without asking its easy to end up wandering the aisles looking for what you want and that takes time. Its small for a hardware store but seems to cover most all needs even if there isnt the exact brand you were looking for. I tend to do a lot of DIY crafting so I asked for a fair number of odd objects over the years and always came away with something that worked. Unique quirk of the store is the ultra-mellow store dog who greets everyone to come through. I dont think Ive ever been licked as some other reviewer said, but I like dogs and this one is the most mellow dog you will ever, ever see. Its a positive as far as Im concerned.

I will soon be visiting a place out of the country, and as a result had to call if they had some insect repellent. Before I could even finish saying what I was looking for, the guy just said that they didnt have it. When I then asked the guy to check if they did, he began to shout and started to use that tone of voice meant for complimenting 2nd graders on participation. So yeah, if a representative of this store is going to act like this, Im never shopping here ever.

Nope nope and nope. Those are the answers you get when you walk in and ask if they have any lumber shorter than 8 with not so much as a care if I had walked out without buying a thing. business must be good when you are impossible to find tucked away in a corner and the guy behind the counter says it is not his concern when customers cannot find the store. Not worth the drive in my opinion unless you want a store dog to lick you.

If you live on the island, you know theres not a lot of good shopping around. I went here to get some very basic items and had a good idea of how to do my project, but the young man I worked with was extremely helpful in getting me some better options. Ill be back soon to get some winter supplies!
