DONT WASTE YOUR TIME HERE - VERY DISHONEST & WILL REALLY TRY TO RIP YOU OFF!! I had purchased several stereos and alarms at the Federal Way Car Toys location as well as the Tukwila location in the past. Unfortunately, my most recent purchase at the Federal Way location was NOT a good experience and will be my last at Car Toys. I purchased a new DVD Receiver in late November, 2016 to be installed in my other vehicle, a F150 truck.. The salesperson told me to bring the truck in so an installer could check to make sure that it could be installed and provide an installation price. I brought the truck in several weeks later and the salesperson and an installer looked inside the truck and said it was OK to install with some shaving of the dash and an install cost of around $165. They would have installed that same day but turned it that they did not have the correct wiring harness. I scheduled an appointment several weeks later and brought in the truck and the stereo. The manager told me the install cost was $300 rather than the $165 I was told the previous visit and that they were really busy that day and I may need to come back. The salesperson was standing right there and also confirmed the original install price of $165. I told the manager that this was already the second time I was here and I reminded him that I had an appointment to get it installed that day which he then confirmed again. The manager then asked me for the installers name that looked at the truck previously. I did not remember the name. The manager then asked if I could describe him. I did my best which he found inadequate. I suggested that I go into the shop and identify him. The manager told me that they have different installers each day and did not allow me to do that. I was then able to identify the installer by looking through the window and pointed him out to the manager. The manager told me that this person was not an installer but instead a detailer. The manager then told me that there was no installer there that day that would install the unit at the quoted price and to come back another day when there may be an installer that would do the work for that price. I asked what day that would be and he could not give me a date. I then asked for my money back. As the manager was running my card for the refund, the detailer went up to one of the salespeople and updated him on a stereo unit he had just installed in a car out in the shop. I commented to the manager, "looks like he was an installer after all". I WILL NEVER RETURN TO ANY CAR TOYS STORE!!!!! Unless you have a lot of time and money on your hands to waste, STAY AWAY!!

This is the story of what happened... Went to this place to use my groupon coupon for interior detailing, and also requested to fix my cars partially broken power door lock. They told it would cost $85 for hour labor charge, and part cost to fix actuator/siren, if there is a problem. Got a call in the evening saying that total cost would be $147. Later went to the store, the total bill they say is around $270. When I questioned legitimacy of the cost, to my surprise, they told only detailing is completed, they havent even checked the problem with power door. They told I can take back my car, without fixing if I want. I can no longer trust them to do anything with the car, so I just took my car with out doing the fix. I am really surprised how they found that part has to be replaced without even looking at it !! After I go home, I realized they havent placed car mats back in the car. I had to go all the way back to question it again, and then they cleaned the mats in front of me and placed in the car. Then manager came to say apology to me, but saying fixing actuator should cost just $100 !! When asked why it is not $147 or $270, he is saying he would like to get it done for me at a low cost. Oh my god every one there just liars. I would like to caution everyone, as per my experience... please beware these guys are waiting to rip you off if there is any opportunity.

So far this place has provided poor quality of service. After having a $2,000.00 system installed with a protection package included I have had to visit this place 3 times. Each time being held without much care or concern. My reasons for saying this are simple. On my first return visit I had an issue of a change in my sound quality. Upon a brief explanation to the Car Toys specialist he had to be prompted by a co-worker to come look at my car and listen to the rattling caused by the sub. My question here is why would he have to be prompted. He wasnt busy and he certainly wasnt helpful. The next issue came when my battery died due to a bad piece of electronics. I set up an appointment and dropped it off. Explaining to the guy what was going on and that I was looking to see about some new speakers in the back of the Car. The guy seemed more than happy to have the Car fixed up and that he would call me when the Car was nearing completion with an idea as well on new speakers. Absolutely no call was made 4 hours later. I had to call in and ask what was up. Something about people not following through on their word just irks me. Especially when they are being paid to do their job. Definitely a time to be on their A game. This Car Toys location is not on their A game. Given what I have paid I would expect better customer service.

The only reason this is two stars instead of one is the second manager I spoke to was able to communicate in a professional manner and was helpful. I go in for a deck on Saturday, I tell the man what I want and he makes a suggestion that I agree with. He says installation is going to be an hour I say okay and I proceeded to go Milling around Federal Way on foot. One hour later I call to check on the progress of the installation, I talked to the same guy who calls himself a manager and says that what I picked out is not in stock, i ask him why he sells it to me if its not and this is what I hear: "because I thought it was" he used a tone with me common for 15 year old boys. I was livid so he said hell put a deferent one in. I walked back to the location, found my car and the man doing the installation (he was professional and informing) ether way I gotta deck in.. just took an extra hour because they didnt bother to call and tell me that they didnt have what I originally asked for and they told me they had. Everyone I spoke with was great except for the original manager, who was an overly pushy salesman and quite immature for his age. I will never return to this place though if you make sure youre speaking to a professional businessman I think you will do fine and the work they do is good.
