I dont have to wonder why Sears is going out of business. Ive shopped with them for over 40 years; even got my first credit card through them. I have countless items that I have bought from Sears over the years and was planning another major purchase with them for a riding mower; I now vow to never go back. I had a return, items still sealed in package, easy to see nothing had been touched, original sales receipt and I just really wanted to do an exchange for something else as it was a duplicate gift (planning to spend a bit more for what I needed). I live out of the area from my local Sears and as it was a birthday gift I had bought I had shopped ahead of the event, so when I returned, it was outside of their very short 30 day return policy. I asked for a manager after receiving the disappointing news of their refusal to accommodate, as I figured it was just an exchange for different tools, no worries right? Guess again, the manager responded that since the tools were still new in their package, I could just keep them and give them away to someone else for a gift? Seriously, instead of doing the right thing, rising to the occasion to provide excellent customer service, proving loyal customer have value and do the easy exchange, he casually tells me I can take a flying leap and keep the $50 worth of tools I didnt need and spend even more money while I was there? The smarter idea is to never spend another single solitary dime on anything at Sears, for which I offered up to him and I left the store without buying the items I wanted in exchange, as if I cant buy tools elsewhere. Furthermore, Sears and the powers that cant run their stores effectively can take the flying leap off the nearest Sears store that closes its doors. Its not like their customers havent shared everything that they are doing wrong, its all over the internet and in fact its hard to find a good review. I used to be melancholy over the loss of Sears, but since Sears chooses not to make changes to improve consumer confidence through their customer service, I join those who will help ensure their demise.

I have had the worst experience with Sears I did the (why not lease it) option then had to return one of the items I had purchase due to a faulty power button. The salesperson screwed up and return it instead of doing an exchange which then I had to go home bring back everything on the lease to refund the lease. Oh but then they(SEARS) tells me now I have to wait 10 business days to get my refund The general manager ANDREW guaranteed me that I would get the refund even went as far as to sign my receipt. Not happy about the situation but waited the 2 weeks to come to find out I didnt get my full refund Why not lease it said I never return the original items so therefore They deducted it from my refund. I have the receipt showing I RETURNED THE ITEMS. spent the next month fighting with "why not lease it" with no success So I went to the store spoke with Amy she again said she would get this resolved and I should get contact within 72 hours Well its been to weeks no contact so Im here again 2 months later to speak with AMY... SINCE ANDREW ITS NOT AVAILABLE . Amy says shes sorry she hasnt been here but let me see what I can do. So Ive calculated my hours Ive spent dealing with Sears incompetence around 12hours and 2months and guess what still no money back as of yet .So yeah "SEARS" AND "WHY NOT LEASE IT" IN MY BOOK SUCK! If it were possible to give zero stars, I would. Ordered a new range and paid for delivery and install. Two guys showed up as scheduled and told me they couldnt install it, call this number and Sears will send someone out free of charge. Called, scheduled, waited. The next crew showed up 3 days later over an hour after the 2 hour window and didnt have any tools or thread sealant for the gas line. Borrowed our tools and still couldnt seal the line. They wanted to use spray paint to seal our gas line?! The guy with the delivery company call center couldnt have cared less. Said no one could come until 3 days later. Meanwhile my old stove had been disconnected and was sitting in my driveway in the rain. They never ended up installing the stove. We did that ourselves. They offered us a small gift card as compensation but I told them no because I wouldnt be spending anymore money with them. Theyre refunding our install fee ($20) and thats all. While the stove is beautiful and works well (so far) I wouldnt recommend Sears or their install team to my worst enemy and will be taking my money elsewhere from now on. FYI, the lady who sold me the stove as well as her manager were both wonderful. Its when it got our of their hands and/or above their heads that things went sideways.

Do not shop at this Sears store in Everett WA. We purchased an artificial Christmas tree and had it shipped to a vacation house in a remote location. The package that was delivered from Sears had already been opened and the tree had an electrical short and would not light up. It also had a broken branch. We just returned from our vacation house and brought the tree back to Sears in Everett. Andrew and Sinesh, the store managers, would not accept a return for a clearly defective item. The total was $49.99. Andrew told me it made no difference that we had purchased thousands of dollars in appliances from them for a remodel over the last year. Andrew refused to refund our money and told me the defective tree will be in lost and found. They most likely box it up and sell it again to someone else. This store has the worst customer service Ive experienced from any retailer.

I want everyone to know that Sears doesnt honor their extended warranty or do right by customers purchasing big ticket items. I have a brand new, top of the line treadmill that ran for 5 months. It broke and after 4 repairs that didnt work, I was told that despite the extended warranty i purchased, it needs to be on its own circuit so my only option is to "run in the dark with all the lights off" or call an electrician. They did NOT repair or replace the treadmill and honor the extended warranty. I have no idea what a separate circuit costs but Im guessing its not cheap. Have had other friends who purchased appliances say the same thing.

People just wanna complain. If you want a human on the phone, just keep pressing 0. Phone operations 101. If you want to return something, keep the packing, receipts, everything - and then make sure and read the return policy. Sears is a decent store. If you dont like their business model, shop elsewhere. As for the delivery, Id hope that was a one-time issue, but who knows? Maybe the delivery person had the wrong address. These things happen unfortunately.

Sears NO SHOWED. Called 45 minutes after appointment time to tell me "I wasnt home." I was home for the four hour window and the 45 minute delay. I was home the first time they called to say they would be late and I was home when they called to tell me "I wasnt home." Havent seen a positive review yet for Sears home services. Should have checked around first.
