They DOUBLE STAPLE tags to the front of EVERY piece of clothing! Yes, right in front, even in the most delicate areas of shirts. I showed the manager the holes that the staples had ripped into previously perfect shirts...and he said, "Weve heard this complaint before. Ive tried to get them (at the regional warehouse) to change the way they do it, but they refuse." He said their response was that they get so much inventory, that this is the most convenient way of tagging items. So, what I hear is that if fewer donations come in, then they can afford to be more respectful to them. I think I can help them in that department! There is absolutely NO REASON they cant be more careful, and avoid damaging these items! Im sure people do not donate to them with the hopes that they will be destroyed upon tagging. I suggested that if they must staple, at least use the tag, or the seam...he shrugged his shoulders...my words falling on deaf ears. In others areas of the country, Ive seen much better Salvation Army Thrift Stores. This one, apparently, is not interested in treating donations with respect, or in listening to its clients or managers. Go to THE VILLAGE instead! Its by Lowes (at the intersection of Smoketown and Minneville) in Woodbridge. Its SO MUCH BETTER! They organize clothes by style, size, and color. You can find exactly what youre looking for VERY EASILY. Their regular prices are higher than I would prefer, but Im willing to pay it because its so organized, they have a HUGE inventory, and they dont damage their clothes! Not to mention, they have huge sales on Sundays and Mondays ;)

Hmmm... Im forced to give my email information through GOOGLE. Known for not caring about peoples privacy and other such issues. Not a good start to writing a review. Anyway, for decades weve donated to The Salvation Army and felt good doing it. Because in return we also shop there for some great items that we just cant afford to buy retail regardless of it being used and doing double duty financially on the front and back of giving to them. However, like Goodwill, they are cashing in on the donations. At the store in Woodbridge, VA they have raised there prices, especially on the books. They went from $0.50 - $1.99 max to $3 - $5 for hardbacks. So for us we no longer will donate or buy at that store any longer. I think theyve lost sight that people give them donations for FREE and turn around and make money that isnt taxed. So they get the best of everything. So now, instead of shopping and feeling good about donating, I wait for the weekends and go to garage and yard sales. Even Estate sales have better prices in many cases than this place does. Thank you Salvation Army, youve forced us to spend elsewhere and end up with better quality bargains than the things that are picked over several times. You use to be our favorite place but not any more..

I donated a BUNCH of stuff here a couple years ago when down-sizing. I had no problem with the folks at the dock, they were, in my experience, very nice. I only give quality and appeal a two star rating because I dont mind giving my stuff away but the smell of thrift shops makes me gag, so I cant shop there... yeah, dont care too either. But I did look around because I wanted to see what they were doing for the neighborhood. Overall I thought it was an good or average experience. The cost raises has more to do with property taxes than their desire to "cash in" on donations. Also, the contributions that they make in job training are verty costly, I can fault them for trying to make sure they keep the doors open.

I love the fact that this thrift shop does not jack all of their prices up. Pricing is very fair, and they do not discriminate against name-brand items. A shirt costs roughly the same no matter what size, or name brand. This is how a thrift shop is supposed to operate. After all, the items are used! I dont like the way they staple the tags to the clothes either-as other reviewers said, but I have learned to pull the staples off one by one from the back of the tag with a set of tweezers, and that works pretty well:)

My family donates a lot of things through the year so driving to Manassas or Garrisonville is not convenient. I agree with the other post, the folks working the dock are about the most unfriendly folks I have ever met and have spoken to the manager who seems to have no balls at least once over one particular gentlemen who is simply rude. If I find another donation center as convenient, Ill never darken their doorstep again.

This store is so cool! The inside is well organized and the staff is friendly and helpful. The items for sale are good quality and for such awesome prices. I would definitely go back. On Wednesdays, everything in the store is an extra 25% off. You cant beat that.

This was my first time going to tge salvation army and 3rd going to a thrift store. Their prices seemed higher than thrift store, but they had a good selection of coats. I just pray the ones i want are there tomorrow when the store is 25% off.

Clean, organized, usually not crowded. They sell furniture, mattresses, some small appliances, books, clothes. Lots of baby clothes (also for boys, which is not always a case in the thrift stores) but I havent seen many toys.

The Salvation Army does great work to help others, but the people taking your donations at the Woodbridge location are NOT friendly.
