This store has really improved since undergoing the most recent remodel & re-structuring of the aisles! Things are in an order now that makes more logical sense, in my opinion. They have a fairly good variety, especially of clean eating and vegetarian/vegan options Im looking for, even if they are pricier than most other stores Id purchase many of those items from. In a pinch its still more cost effective for me to pay a few cents more here than make a trip to Fredericksburg or south of here to get those items for a better price (but I have become better at planning ahead to get certain things online it on trips to nearby cities to help with the budget in this area). They have always had friendly service and employees in the 12 years Ive been shopping here (especially Ms. Sue whom I do not know personally but she has brightened many a shopping trip/day for me with her awesome personality & smile!). The store is clean including the restrooms (on the infrequent times Ive used them), immediately outside the store, & in the parking lot. There are always carts & baskets available inside even during bad weather. If the prices were a little better here Id honestly rate this location even higher - although I cant really complain for the convenience of having a grocery store in town to shop at. It should be noted that this is, in my opinion, the best Food Lion store in quite a large area (over Thornburg, Bowling Green & some even farther north and south). Theres one problem at this store Ive noticed and its been this way for a long time now & I cant say whether the other 2 stores Ive just mentioned have fixed this issue in their locations yet since Ill never be confident to find out because 1 trip each was bad enough! There is a lot of loitering in the parking lot here by non-shoppers after dark, especially on the weekend and especially in the specific area in front of the Food Lion. I applaud the Caroline County Sheriffs Department because Ive definitely noticed a lot more presence during these periods in recent years, but its still a little unsettling when they arent there. Ive avoided the store during these times as much as possible which sometimes does mean theyve lost business because I choose to pick up needed items elsewhere on trips out-of-town.

Its the closest grocery store to where I live. Do not go around the 5-7 pm hour on a weeknight if you can help it. Even with all the registers having cashiers, they just cant quickly accommodate the amount of people that need their store. Theres no self checkout lane so getting one or 2 items can take 20-25 minutes to check out on a weeknight. They have a decent selection of fresh foods. Limited selection of cheeses.

I used to really enjoy going to this food lion since they had many organic and vegan options. Since they have remodeled, their selection has greatly decreased. Seems everytime I go, the organic products are closing out. No longer do they sell non dairy coffee creamer. Now I need to go farther out of town in order to purchase special foods

The only large grocery store within a 15 minute drive. Always clean, well stocked and usually quick to get in and out. The afternoon summer sun can be blinding while in the checkout lines, and the typical lazy people illegally parked in the no parking areas are my only complaints

Good luck finding someone to help you here. They also have flats of dead mums in front that it is obvious no one had watered since they were delivered. Not because they dont have enough employees, just a lot of standing around.

The store employees are nice and the store is clean. However, they are often out of common items like eggs or apples, and the selection is not very big for produce, coffee creamer, yogurt, cookies and many other things.

My sole reason for stopping here is that they are the one and only Food Lion where I have EVER seen the gluten-free cheesecake sampler from New York cheesecake... and it happened to be on my way from a trip.
