I have never shopped at A.C. Moore before, but somehow I got a coupon for 65% off the cost of custom framing. I had a poster to frame, and I had done other posters just like this before at a local custom framing place, but thought I would give them a try. The day I went in they were having all kinds of problems with their computer register systems and it took about 10 tries and about 30 minutes to ring me up. I was so frustrated by that time I really had ignored the price (my fault), but when I got home I looked at the price. With the 65% discount, the frame was still $141. This is the same type of frame I had three others framed at a local custom frame shop for about $150 so I really did not see any savings, certainly not 65%. When I went to pick up the frame, which took several weeks, the framing seem to be good so no complaints there. When I ask the clerk about the price, he stated that the retail price of that frame is $391. I was a little blown away as I had it done locally for $150 and even checked on line for the exact same frame and could have gotten it for $130 so how could they say it was $391??? The clerk told me that they are always running sales so the retail prices mean nothing. I am not a fan of this sort of selling as if you are going to run a sale, run a sale. Dont artificially mark up your prices, only to reduce them. I dont like this practice as I think it is very misleading so I will not use them again, besides at 65% off, I can use a custom frame shop and get better, faster service and help support a local business.

I have shopped here numerous times. I continue to go back ONLY because they have what I need for projects I am working on. The service here is UNACCEPTABLE. I have yet to be helped in a genuine, professional, courteous manner. I have worked in retail MOST of my adult life, and mostly in supervisor/management positions, and if this were my group of employees, I would figure out what they want to do because customer service does not seem to be something they enjoy.
