I would have given this place no stars, or negitive stars, but Google doesnt allow that. I went in there in the past few days and I saw some terrible things. First, they do have a fairly good selection of reptiles. However, the ball pythons looked emaciated, sick. There are 2 babies that looked like they hadnt eaten in several weeks. The employees escuse was that they were rescued from someone else and they had to be force fed. I dont know whether or not to belive that they are being force fed or not, but if they are being fed, force feeding isnt a bad thing to help get a snake back to health. Second, a couple of days ago my friend pretty much rescued a Leopard Gecko that was thin and sick. She noted that he was in a tank with two others that looked the same. When I went in there myself, they were not there anymore. But I saw that that they had no fresh water, and their water bowl was a liquid soup of dead crickets. I found ot odd that the other two were not there. Beside the adult tank was a tank full of babies living in the same condition. Though they looked much healthier. Third, almost all of the snakes didnt have any heat on them. One adult, female ball python cleary had a respiratory infection. Her mouth was open and she was trying to breathe. Mucus covered her face. When I asked the employee whatvwas wrong, even though I already knew, she reaponded that she was being treated for respiratory. I find that hard to belive when she said that she had the snake for about a week, and she didnt have any form of heat, no fresh water, not the correct bedding for a sick snake, and had feces caked onto her. And she was still for sale for about $90. The employee also said tha she was agressive. I asked her to take out the snake to see for myself. She wouldnt dare stick her hand into the tank, but with me being experienced with ball pythons, I reached right in there and picked her up gently. She didnt make an attempt to bite, she didnt hiss, she just wanted to crawl. She was very active and if she wasnt so sick, she would make an excelent pet. What I had gathered from that, was that rather than her being agressive, they were handling her aggressively, as I saw snake hooks not too far away from the tank. Those were just the worse cases. There is much more to this. If you care about reptiles or any animals like i do, I urge you to do one thing. Instead of turning away and not buying from them, go in there and rescue these animals. Tell your friends and family what you saw if you ever go in there. It may be giving them bussiness, but a least you are doing the right thing. I work for a different pet store myself in the Hampton area. When I first started working there I saw much of the same conditions. But because I care a lot about reptiles and animals, I made a change. Now they dont look like that anymore. You can make a change too.

I dont know why there are so many bad reviews about this store. As far as Im concerned they are one of the best pet stores Ive been too. The staff are extremely knowledgeable, if they dont something they make sure they find out. I have never had any problems with any members of the staff. If you go in and treat them with respect you will recieve it back. However if you go in there and are completely disrespectful dont expect them to be too quick to help you out. They are people just like us, just trying to make a living, they are no better, or no worse then us. All Im saying is treat them the way you want to be treated, and you wont have any issues. They have a very wide variety of animals and supplies. Their prices are competetive. Most of the bad reviews Ive read are from ignorant people that obviously have no patience or respect whatsoever, and obviously need to do their research about an animal before they purchase it. Example : the comment about the Beta fish... Betas that you get in any pet store never last long. They are riddiculously overbred. If you want a Beta fish thats going to last more than a week buy it from a breeder. Buying an animal is a commitment. Do your research! Ask questions, and make sure you can meet all of the requirements the animal will need. Yes the store does smell I will admit it, but after going in there a few times you dont really notice it as much. Besides with as many animals as they have what do you expect? All pet stores smell to some degree. They are a great store for first time animal owners and for people that have owned pets for years. I deffinately reccomend this store.

NO VET CARE! I have seen the good and the bad here, Ive been going to this pet store for 3 years now. We have bought fish here, salt water and fresh, they seem fine, most died within 6 months from ick, by no means is that always the stores fault. The staff is always pretty friendly and they usually lrt you know when they dont know the answer to your questions. The biggest issue I have with them, the owner told me they dont have vet care for anything other than the puppies. Reptiles, birds and rodents need vet care. We unknowingly bought a sick tortoise that cost us $350 in vet bills, it also took us 2 months to get him off of the lettuce diet (which will kill them eventually). HOWEVER The owners were always willing to work with me if I ever had any issues, whether it be replacing a fish filter or refunding the purchase of a sick animal. Pet World needs to figure out how to keep their products in top notch shape so it doesnt get to the point of trying to work out a deal for something that should have been better. Shop with caution here.

I have to say that whenever I go in here everyone is always very nice and knowledgeable. That being said there is room for improvement. The reptile cages are extremely overcrowded, there was 3 snakes all sharing a tank too small for one when i went in today among other overcrowding issues. Today I brought my fish in because he wasnt looking quite right with his fins for the past few days and I wanted to get him checked out. They told me it isnt fin rot like i thought it was and that hes just getting up there in age. He is at least 2 years old so I was glad that it wasnt negligence on my part. They also did a water check at no charge for me. All of the dogs were well cared for and cages were clean. All of the fish looked good and well fed and cared for today as well. Also, this is a pet store. It is going to have a smell to it. They have reptiles and all kinds of small creatures and each one has its own smell-none of them good. But overall I have to say i prefer this store over petco.
