They have a nice store, always clean, and nice staff. But usually when they do events they have times. We went today for a children and camping event but because of traffic, it took an hour to get there. When we got there, the event was already over apparently. My gripe is why not have it LONGER for unforeseen events like traffic? An hour long event? And why not actually put the times for the even not just leave it vague saying 1:00pm. Was it only ten minutes long? An half an hour? An hour? Planning is very poorly done and usually they are on top of it. Really disappointing! Taking away two stars because of how I was treated today at yet another event where all I received was excuses by the Ass. Manager as to why things werent PROPERLY advertised like the age range being 5 and up for the fishing. My daughter is three and was looking forward to doing the fishing. But because it was in their front pond she couldnt do it! Hmm heres an idea get a tiny pool and fill it with FAKE FISH for the little ones to fish in so that they can take part too! These planning people are IDIOTS! They need to learn how to plan an event that is supposed to FAMILY FRIENDLY! Dont leave out the young ones just because they are little, compromise! Ask parents, hell ask a Preschool Teacher how to make up games for the littles ones so they arent left out. Coloring can only go so far! Update: 6-3-17 Received nothing, not even an apology from this store. Shameful to know that they dont truly care about their customers.

Given my my very limited experience (one visit & a $$$$ purchase & 2 phone calls) with Bass Pro Ive not been overly impressed. Either way the Customer Service desk at Hampton acts as if youre getting in their way. At the counter its as if youre an inconvenience; on the phone the background chatter has twice sounded as if the ladies have better things going on or were otherwise bickering about relatively insignificant circumstances in their lives. Called to check about the item Id ordered 14 days ago - and would arrive and be advised within 7-10 working days of the order. Was told it was "in the store", but no idea from the gentleman as to when it arrived. PS...my first call was to ask if they had the item; I was told when I called 2 weeks ago that it was in stock. But when I got there they said theyd not had that model for quite awhile, but had a different model...that theyd be happy to sell. I ordered the one I wanted that would take 7-10 days. Never received a call until I asked about the order. Other than that retail counter sales personnel are very helpful. Nice store. First review Ive ever written for a box store.

Most staff have no idea what they work with....theyre just regular hourly workers who happen to work in an outdoors themed store. Most will ignore you, and few know where anything is in the store other than "Over there somewhere". Most of the specialty department workers (guns, archery, fishing) are better than the regular floor folks, but by NO means better than novices with some product propaganda. Few have any real experience with the gear they sell, and rarely any competent field experience at all. More Red Head branded stuff is being made in China or Vietnam now, so quality is really suffering...lucky if you get a season out of clothing or gloves, etc. Know what you want before you go there, and know the market price point. Good luck! (We routinely pass this location up in favor of Richmond or Arundle Mills in MD. 1 million times better shopping and sales experience, and real hunters and fishermen and outdoorsmen instead of minimum wage clerks whos idea of camping/hunting/fishing is slow room service at Great Wolf Lodge.)

Went in store to order a blowfish kit told us would be on a truck from another store, then told us it would be 2 weeks. 2 weeks pass and nothing, call and dont know much of anything so I informed them about unhappy and frustrated I was they call back saying they are going to over night it to the store. 3 days later nothing. Call very upset and told it should be here Wednesday. FedEx messed up the shipment and then the distribution center messed up. Spoke with Richard the Manager and didnt have a care in the world that I was upset I ordered this product almost 4 weeks ago and tells me it is only a week past the date we told you it would be in and not anything they can do about it and then said well we didnt charge you to overnight it!??! Wow such customer service especially coming from a manager! If it doesnt show on Wednesday then FedEx messed up again and we just have to continue to wait.... wow just wow! First and last time I place any order in store with them. That just ruined everything for me with bass pro.

Although the store is an hour from my home, Ive started shopping more frequently at Bass Pro because of the selection and quality they offer. I have met terrific sales people in guns, hunting, and camping departments. That said, I have been searching over two years for a large good quality gun safe and after several visits to Bass Pro, Field & Stream, and Tractor Supply, I decided on their Browning BXL33 40-gun safe as the best product. When I went there this past weekend to make the purchase, I was informed they had none in stock, but three were in distribution. Jake, an excellent sales associate, told me the manager (Randy) would inquire to verify they were available and would call me Monday morning to take my order over the phone with the military discount. Monday came and went. I called late Monday leaving a message for Randy with a woman who didnt know if hed left for the day or gone to lunch. Still no response after two days. Apparently they dont want to take orders or sell safes to customers.

I go here a lot, as for my experience I usually know what I what I want when I go in. However, lately I have noticed the customer service degrading. I went in to buy some items for Christmas and at checkout I was shocked to find none of the items were the price as advertised on line. The manager quickly informed me that the online department and the store are two total different entities and she wasnt very polite about it. More recently, went in to buy an Ascend Kayak, took about 15 minutes to get the boat guy over to me not a lot of umph. Today went in and asked if they could order me an Old Town Kayak b/c they are listed as an Old Town dealer, took me another 10 min waiting for this guy 5 minutes after they opened. Dude still had sleep in his eyes like he just woke up, took him 30 min to inform me that I was better off going to Dicks Sporting Goods...........Really!

We went looking for binoculars. When we entered the store, a sales person let us know what direction to go. We found one area if binoculars and started looking at them. Another sales person came to check on us but he really didnt seem to know much. After talking some more, we got directed by another sales person to the end of the glass cases where there was a sales person who really knew his stuff. We were finally able to get the help we needed and find what we wanted. We were there on a Wednesday night so it wasnt busy at all. There is a low price guarantee and 30 day return policy so while we felt a little rushed since the store was closing (we were there for an hour but didnt get to the helpful person until 20 min before closing), we went ahead and made a purchase.
