I have attempted to make two purchases in the last 48 hours from this store. The first time I thought maybe the Manager Susan was having a bad day. As I found out on my second attempt this was not the case. I went into the store on Friday evening to simply ask the question "if you have lost a gift card but still have the receipt could I still make a purchase". The response from Susan was "call 1800 boat us I cant help you" the tone was as if she was scolding a child. On Saturday morning I checked the managers schedule to ensure I wouldnt have to deal with this person again. When I arrived at the store Keith who is the actual store manager was able assist me with my gift card issue, he quickly looked up the information and I was able to make a purchase using another card. Keith is an asset to the store and West marine he has assisted me with many boating projects in the past. He was very apologetic for the treatment I had received the day before. Now for my second experience with Susan. Its Sunday morning I need a tow rope attachment for the transom on my boat. When I called the store Susan answered the phone "thank you for calling west marine this is Susan" I simply asked her to check on a part number from the west marine catalog. I could barely get the words out before she said "hold" and after 10 to 15 seconds or so I was hung up on. I will never use this store again. I have been a member of Boat US for 7 years purchasing practically everything for my boat from this west marine location, including my annual tow insurance. I see no reason why we should be subjected to this level of poor customer satisfaction. Remember without customers retailers have nothing!

Arrived at 9:15 am. 7 people were waiting outside the store, which had posted hours opening at 9 am. I saw 10 potential customers come and go over the next 30 minutes. Store never opened. I finally left at 9:45 am. Called store at 9:55 am when I got home; still no answer. If they are closing the store on a Thursday, at least have the decency to put a sign up indicating such so people dont have to wait and see if they open. Will try the Ordinance Rd West Marine next time.
