I do not understand these reviews sometimes. Maybe these negative reviews are from people who showed up at the wrong time, as a former retail employee its hard to be happy and congenial all the time. On to the review. I love this place, I end up in there anywhere between two and three times a week. The only thing I hate t is the drive I have to take to get there which averages anywhere between a half-hour and and 45 mins depending on traffic. But its always worth it, I always leave with something I wanted in hand, or tid-bit of information. Quality, these guys are sticklers for some of the stuff they take in, Yeah you will encounter a few NES games with damaged Labels, but the majority of their old school inventory is varied and well cared for. The number of "Just go to cool stuff, old skool, etc" I find a little shocking. I stop in to cool stuff out of convenience but their retro section is so lacking now a days. I have been to Portsmouth Old School once, and where the staff at both establishments are quite nice. I dont go to stores for conversation or happy people, I go for plastic gold. IF you want newer stuff, by all means go to Cool Stuff. But if you want PS2 and back, go to VGH if you want that chance of finding the gem. As I mentioned, their selection is amazing. I decided to start collecting NES games a little while ago, only having 5 games to my name. I am now sitting on a stack of 90 games all bought from this store. The get the rare gem in more often than any other store I have visited, and the number of Great Uncommon games they get in on a regular basis amazes me. The staff, I dont know if I show up there on good days, but I have never had a bad experience. It warms my heart slightly when the workers are make an obvious effort to remember my name and face, and I always feel comfortable in there. The return policy is more than fair, and if you have a receipt they will give you no issues, and if they gave you issue I am sure there is a reason. And if you have a question, most times they will answer you honestly and be well informed. I always am greeted, even by people I havent seen there. They have atleast one person On staff most days that can be considered an Expert in some field, they have people who can attempt to fix your console depending on the problem. In short, Check this place out. They get in new stuff all the time, and post any gems they get in on their facebook. They will try to help you to the best of your abilities, and frankly the prices arent bad. Ebay and amazon are all well and good but you never see what your buying, or they just a stock photo. I love this place and tell everyone I talk to about it. Give it a shot, if you had a bad experience Try it once more before you fully boycott it.

Figured I would write a review on the place as it seems most are old, outdated and somewhat biased. I just purchased a used Nintendo 64 package (controller, cables, etc) along with a game cartridge. The staff was more than helpful and allowed me to pick and choose pieces between systems (I swapped the expansion pack for an OEM, and a RF adapter for an RCA). They also connected it to a TV to ensure the controller and system worked properly. My only gripe is with the price. Their price on their website is published very clearly as $29.99 without any stipulations, notes, asterisks, etc for a N64 with expansion pack. The actual purchase price was $39.99. I called within hours of leaving the store and stated I believe I had been overcharged for an item I had purchased - the answer, whether correct or not - is the price was correct (39.99) and that the price is changed based on demand/availability of the product. I accepted it because it wasnt a winning battle - however would recommend to others to: 1) Check eBay prices prior to going 2) Call them to verify prices prior to going With 5 N64s in stock (at least visible) I wouldnt really consider them as being unavailable and in-demand. At $40 you are in eBay territory with Buy It Nows including games and a second controller. Overall I appreciated their help swapping parts between systems, but would recommend they modify their website to state Prices may differ depending on product availability and demand. I was also a little disappointed in the selection of N64 games, however that is not their fault people havent been trading in the awesome ones (Mario 64, Mario Kart, Diddy Kong Racing, Zelda, etc)

I dont know how anyone could leave here unhappy. This is namely directed at Tony down there. Cool stuff? Yeah right. Those guys are always jam packed and act as if taking the time to help you find a game or even give you service is doing you a huge favor. Videogameheaven has always given me a fair cash price and an even better store credit price when I have brought things in. The prices on their games and systems are all in line to what they should be, especially for a store and they have warranties and 7 day returns. I dont think I have ever made a trip there without finding something I wanted. Anyone who brings stuff in and gets rejected either brought in something in poor condition, something they dont need due to having enough of, or they wanted too much for it. Run of the mill games, especially sports they cant take in due to having too many of them and practically having to give what they have away as is. Dont get butt hurt they cant pay you for your trash, the rest of us are grateful they dont take some things in. With that said its a great store, they are all friendly and will help you and love to talk games among other things and I travel 45 minutes just to do business here vs going to Gamestop or some other rip off store. I never bother writing reviews and I took the time for this just because I really love this place. If that doesnt say something about how great a business I dont know what does.

I discovered this store a long time ago as I saw an ad on Craigslist for them. Being a gamer and a Legend of Zelda collector, I decided to check the place out. Needless to say I was not disappointed (and never have been disappointed). The place is literally a video gamers heaven. No doubts about it. Most of my collection has come from this store. Picking up Retro Gaming? I urge you all to visit this place. The well knowledge staff know a thing or two when it comes to gaming [in general]. Cant find the game of your childhood? They will help you find that gem. The staff is very accommodating and are a pleasure to work with or just talk gaming. The atmosphere of the store is awe inspiring. I have probably gone like 20-30 times, and I am noticing the attention to detail this store has. The place is well kept and and just a neat place to check out to see whats new (as in what rare game came in, or newly released games). It is a gamers haven. Some might not appreciate this but this is an atmosphere that I enjoy. For being gamers, human beings who fear sun light, they are a rarity of their kind, and that is something I truly appreciate about this place. I am a social pariah and this place makes me feel welcome. What more can you ask for? Thank you guys for being so awesome! You all are the best! ~Eddie
