I have never gone into a store where I felt as unwelcome as I felt at Bluewhale. The clerk, who appeared to be the owner was incredibly dismissive, rude and acted as though my wife and I had inconvenienced him by even being there. When we entered we were not greeted wig so much as a nod. He couldnt be bothered to look away from his laptop. I was shopping for a rare book for a gift and was fully committed to buying it but I was relieved when the shopkeeper told me they didnt have it so I didnt have to give my hard earned money to such a an awful establishment. If you want to be treated poorly go to blue whale. At least at Barnes and Noble people are nice to you and treat you like a customer should be treated. May Blue Whale drown in a sea of red ink and go swiftly out of business. A dunkin donuts would be a better use of that retail space.

Horrible service and completely preposterous attitude from employee!! Was told that the owner of the store would not have given me half the time to even talk with me in regards to the 18th century books that i had brought in. Yes the books were not in excellent condition but he made me , my sister and my young daughter feel as if we were fools. The man at Rarebookbuyer is who we have spoke with and will send all our business !!

If you understand how many trillions of books have been published in the history of publishing, and how to actually USE a used book store (and are not a complete moron), then Blue Whale is one of several excellent bookstores on the downtown mall to find hidden treasures for those willing to dig. And if youre the last reviewer, then you may as well just skip it and gorge yourself on Dunkin Donuts instead.

High-quality used bookstore on the Downtown Mall. Collectors items. Carefully curated selection of classics. Good film & arts section where youll often find out-of-print items. Dont waste your time haggling with the shop help; the price marked is the price youre gonna pay if you want the book. Still, the books are in excellent condition and are typically about a third-less than full retail.

This is a great establishment! There are many books at very good prices and there are lots of interesting prints. It has a very calm, relaxing atmosphere and I have always been treated very cordially by the helpful staff. I go about once a month.
