From Ballparks to BBQ
I decided to order a box of a half-dozen to get a good variety. I picked the Blueberry Cake, Toasted Coconut, Devil’s Food Chocolate Iced, Chocolate Iced with Peanuts, Cinnamon Sugar, & Bavarian Creme filled for my six doughnuts. They are $.70 each individually and I believe it was just under $4.00 for a half-dozen. After now having tried all six flavors, the Blueberry Cake & Toasted Coconut are my two favorites. There’s nothing fancy about the blueberry cake, but this cake doughnut is extremely light and the berries tasted stronger than usual in most other blueberry doughnuts I’ve tried. For a contrast, the Toasted Coconut was a glazed yeast doughnut but topped with shavings of toasted coconut. The coconut gives a unique texture and a sweet nutty flavor that works well with the yeast doughnut. I’m not a coffee drinker but this seemed like a doughnut that would pair perfectly with a cup of coffee.

As the best place to get fresh made donuts in the Blacksburg area, Carol Lee is always on my list of places to swing by when in the area. I am a big fan of their cake donuts, particularly the blueberry, but you can never go wrong with the cinnamon sugar donut, either. They are pretty reasonably priced at $5 for a half dozen; theyre cash only but they have an ATM on site if you forget! It is also worth noting that there is no seating, either indoors or outside, at Carol Lee, so be sure to go in prepared to get your donuts to go. You may also have to wait for parking, as there are not that many spots.

First off, the donuts are amazing. Hands down, best in town. Secondly, I recently asked for some samples of wedding cake flavors. They indicated that would be no problem. We went to pick up the wedding cake samples and were given about four hockey puck-esque cupcakes. The cupcakes tasted from ok to barely edible and looked about the same, the cakes across the street from Food Lion would have likely been better. Needless to say I was very disappointed. Overall four stars, five if not for the bad cake experience.

Look, Ive eaten a lot of donuts in my life. Im not proud of this fact, and I dont tell you to boast. I tell you to indicate that I am experienced enough in the art of fried dough consumption to be granted a PhD in the field, should one exist. These donuts are the greatest, best, most delicious, perfectly textured, aroma wafting things Ive ever eaten. Ever. Period. The coffee? Meh. But the donuts...my god, the donuts.

Its about the only donut shop in Blacksburg, but their donuts are really good! Its a small business, no inside seating, and they dont have quite the variety that the chain donut shops do. However, the donuts are great, very soft and fresh, and overall its a nice place to pop in in the mornings.

My girlfriend and I went to the bakery this afternoon before 2 and we see its closed. We check the hours and see its supposed to be open until 5:30. However, we see a sign at the front stating "sold out." Heard the donuts are great but disappointed at the sudden closure today.

Im from St.Louis Missouri go to your store at least 3 times a year love everything about it except that you dont take any type of debit or credit cards not all people carry cash on them all the time. We have a large family &we all have our favorite s. Keep up the good work!!!

amazing donuts I live right across from them and I admit I may eat their donuts a tiny bit too much but If ind it weird they dont take cards I understand not taking a card for an order of 1 donut but when I am getting a dozen or so it seems like they would. Stilll so great

I wish they had fritters and a couple other variants, but the selection they have is delicious! They dont last long before they dry out, so make sure you eat them within a couple days.

A regional gem, youve gotta go to Carol Lee for a doughnut (or a dozen) when in town. Its pretty bare bones, with minimal drinks and no other food...they just do doughnuts!
