In this last week, I have rented countless tools to sand my hardwood floors. This has been the biggest project Ive yet encountered and have spent a lot of money just going to Home Depot to get this project completed. For the majority, I have stuck to the midvale store which they have been awesome in helping me and Ive become a regular there whos spent a good amount in my items. While Im on the last finishing touches of redoing my hardwood floors, I tried a satin finish that I didnt like. I tested one can, and didnt open the second can. I happened to be near the Draper store and thought I would go return them to get a more of a glossy finish. *This has never been a problem at any other home depot Ive ever been to.* I was standing in line about three customers back in the return line when the cashier noticed I was holding paint. He asked me if I was returning it and I said that I was. He became dramatic and called over the employee working in the paint section around 7:00pm. The man came up to me, without saying a word grabbed the bag off of my arm. I for one do not do well when someone invades my space. He then opened the cans to see if I had used any and he noticed that I had tested some out of one of the cans. He made this scene in front of people humiliating me saying he will absolutely NOT return that can because "he" could not sell it. Everyone in line was staring at both of us most likely in awe of how this man was acting. I felt completely embarrassed. I then just decided to take my paint and go back to the midvale store where they happily exchanged it. As a bigger franchize, I think its ridiculous that this employee would act this way over $12. Im not upset about him not returning it, but how I was treated. I feel humiliated and I will NOT be returning back to this store where when the first two employees I deal with treat me like Im garbage. Theres hundreds of other places that would appreciate my business.

Ive only given out one other 1 star review. I reserve 1 star reviews for the absolute worse in customer service. This is definitely it. Approximately 2. 5 weeks ago I called the Sandy Home Depot. The first time, I was told to give my number and they would call back. No one ever called back. I called them back and was hung up on. I assumed this was an issue with that specific Home Depot, so I called the Draper Home Depot. I was again told to give my number, and they would call back. No one ever called, so my fiancé went in personally to order it. It was ordered to be shipped to the draper home depot. We heard nothing for a week. So, I then called the draper home depot. I was transferred back and forth between people several times, and was finally hung up on. I called back, and finally got someone. They told me they ordered the wrong size, and it hadnt even shipped yet. They did not think to notify us of this, of course. I clarify the size, and it gets ordered to be shipped to the draper store again. I call back later to re-verify the size. It was going to be the wrong size again! So, I re-clarify the size. It gets ordered. I call this Monday, August 15th, and ask for a status. They promise it will be here Wednesday August 17th. I take their word. I show up, and it is not there. To top if off, I get asked if I want to drive 20 miles to Salt Lake. Sure, If youre paying my gas! No, I ordered it to the Draper store for a reason. No measly discount was offered to compensate. I was then told it would be here Friday August 29th. I called to check on status, and was hung up on. I called back, and was told It is not here as of 3:35 PM MST. I have been civil the entire time, but am close to losing my civility. I will probably never return to another Home Depot. There is always Lowes.

Every time I visit this Home Depot, there are always many employees who offer to help me find things Im looking for, or help me figure out how to do projects. Last time I came in, I was thinking of building a little door to cover our furnace re-uptake thing, and I had one idea for how to do it and the Home Depot guy helped me find the stuff, but then he suggested something that would work much better and look much nicer (and cost about the same, and take about the same amount of work). Very, very helpful. I frequently ask people from the totally wrong department about very specific items, and they can always take me right to what I need, which is a pleasant surprise every time. The people working at this Home Depot are very friendly and very knowledgeable. (Also, they have a tool rental area, which seems like it may be useful sometime.)

Unknowledgeable unhelpful staff with bad layout and directions to products. Employees dont help arent knowledgeable with how their own system works and lies to avoid figuring out sales or options instead of just learning where products are to help you find it instead of walking all over the store over the course of 5 times to find what you want. The employees wont help but will certainly glare as if youre stealing something, let people cut at checkout lines. This is a store where everything is at least 25->50% more than what its worth and you can get better products elsewhere at cheaper prices. I wasted an hour here just to find what I wanted to then go to check it lines where people cut in lines and employees allow it as well as for themselves while they dont know the generic basics of how their own policies or sales works

Stop by this evening (Aug 9th at 7:20PM) to purchase a new dryer. I wait behind a couple that is being helped. After 15 minutes I ask the associate if there is someone else that can take an order. She says the other associate is also helping someone but she then picks up the phone and calls someone else but they cant take orders. I wait another 10 minutes thinking it has to be close. I finally ask how much longer and am told about 10 more minutes. I understand that the people in front of me have to be helped....but really I have to wait 25 minutes only to be told that it will be another 10 minutes. So frustrating. Left, called the manger on duty and told "if you come back now I am sure we can help you". yea right. Home now checking Lowes and RC Willy to see what kind of deals they have on dryers.

I am completely done with home depot. I have had a horrible previous experience with trying to return an online item that they messed up. Nobody was able or willing to help. This left a bad taste in my mouth. Then, yesterday, I ran there to get some parts around dinner time, and nobody was there to help. After wandering in circles for ten minutes trying to find someone, I go to the front desk and have them call someone over. The person still didnt come for another 15 minutes. When they came, they were completely clueless. Home depot is the cheapest in the business, but you get what you pay for. I will make a serious effort to drive the extra 10 minutes and pay more at Lowes now, because you get what you pay for.
