Nordstrom City Creek apparently has much more than a customer service issue and in treating customers with a smile and courtesy. They are not only so judgemental to those who "dont look or appear to be the par" in their store, but they definitely have an issue with how they treat prospective employees. Case in point: I am a well trained Master Esthetician newly graduated from professional training school. In looking for my first job to gain work experience for the first time in this field, I came across a job announcement seeking an esthetician to work on one of the makeup lines for the cosmetic counter. The job description listed the requirements and I met all of them. The experience was 0-1 year but none necessarily required. It was an entry level position. The requirements were high school and esthetics training and licensing. I met those. I am age 45 when I applied just a few months ago. I submitted an application and resume online. I got a call from a hiring manager who said they were happy I submitted my application but decided to go with hiring others with more experience. This puzzled me because the job was entry level and required no experience. They basically contradicted their own job announcement in terms of what they wanted. I returned their call and after questioning why I was not going to be considered and I met all their requirements and informing her it was an entry level position where experience was not required. I asked her if there would be any other reason. She put me over to her supervisor who basically reiterated the exact same thing minus a word or two different. I asked if it had anything to do with the fact that I was applying for this position at age 45 instead 25? She was very reluctant to answer my question but I sensed age discrimination by the way I was already being handled in terms of this position. My intuition never ever lies and I felt something was not right. I informed her I had a very good application and resume and I met all the requirements and it is/was an entry level position for an estherician to gain work experience where no or little experience needed. I informed her I was looking for a position in the field to help gain experience and how would I be able to do that if I was not allowed the chance to have a job to help me? Again, she could not answer my question but simply reiterated again what her previous associate had told her. I informed her that might be a satisfactory answer for her but not for me. It was not whatsoever to my satisfaction and I could literally sense something she was not telling me. I think she knew I could see through her and what rather, she was not telling me. I ended the call but I should have asked then and there for her supervisor or the corporate office. If I were an attorney which I should have been in the first place but thats herevor there, I would have had her in a legal snag on discrimination. While I have moved on and not as of yet filed a formal complaint with the corporate office, I am still seriously considering it as I have now been thinking how many others they might have done this to or mistreated. The bottom to anyone considering a job at this company: Beware! I was mistreated. All I asked for innocently, was an esthetics job to gain experience. Sadly, this put a not very nice taste in my mouth. Do not work for this company. Plenty of other places that treat prospective employees and customers better. I am not surprised by reading the reviews of others who as customers who were or are unhappy. Likewise, if I was mistreated by representatives if this company, I also gave wondered how are being treated? Not too well I would imagine, given my experience and those of others.

Bought a Hugo Boss suit 2-3 years ago from this store and pants ripped. I went in to see if they could somehow fix the hole which was pretty large and they said they couldnt without putting on a patch that wouldnt look good. I asked if they could discard the suit since it was unwearable and I thought that would be the end of the story. The sales associate had my wifes Nordstrom card and was trying to find the transaction from when I originally bought the suit, he could not find it and so he got the manager of the department who asked if he could remember how much I paid which I could not and the manager then asked me for an estimate and I estimated between $5-700 and without me even asking or expecting they gave a full credit to my wifes card. I am beyond amazed that a company would credit back in full for a product purchased 2-3 years ago, worn dozens of times and not only could I not present a receipt they couldnt find the transaction in their computer. Topping it all off- I never once asked for anything more than to see if my trousers could be fixed. This is the most amazing customer service I have ever seen. The company, This store, the manager of the mens suit department and the sales associate all deserve 5 stars. Customer for life!

Ok, I am making an edit to this review. New Review: I was back at this store last week and the loss prevention or security team is over zealous. I hate how they stand around the North Entrance and talk on the phone to employees just trying to bust someone. I actually feel uncomfortable around these guys. I have never had a speed ticket in 45 years. My job requires me to drive daily (Realtor). I feel here as though I am a criminal for taking some returns back here. I wish management would take a close look at these practices. We have spent tons of money in this store. We have shopped at Norstrom for 30 years! I dont need some football player sitting next to me while I am trying on Mephistos or Allen Edmonds. This is just flat out strange behavior. Quit being so intimidating and acting like your on a commission plan. Nordstrom has also changed the return policy. Ask about it before you make a purchase. Old Review: This is a fantastic story its one of the anchor tenants at the City Creek Shopping Center in Salt Lake City. It is somewhat frustrating that the security staff is very visible sometimes too visible and its it can make you feel uncomfortable.

This store doesnt come close to a typical Nordstrom experience. The people working there are very pretentious, and seem bothered that youre even there. In my recent experience, I had to hunt someone down to actually ring me up, and he was quite irritated that I had interrupted his casual conversation with his coworker. While I was waiting for him to ring me up, I heard another worker on the phone with a customer, getting quite belligerent with them (that same gentleman saw me wanting to be checked out, and deliberately walked away from me). Then, one of the two items I purchased rang up with an incorrect price, which the gentleman helping me had zero idea how to fix. So then he had to get another man to help, which also included making a phone call, then a whole slew of other issues that took about 10 minutes to fix (just to purchase TWO items!!) I am really surprised that someone at the District or Region level hasnt tried to fix this store, its been this way for a long time. Fashion Place has this store beat hands down.
