Edit: Note the response back from the owner - seems like a lovely fellow that stands behind his products and services. Is this the type of person you want to do business with? One who blames the customer and takes no responsibility for poor quality animals and services? One who focuses on making the problem the customers fault? One who berates you in person, then berates you online when you post a truthful review of your experience with his company? Also, the two mice deaths and terrible service all occurred within 30 days of the original purchase, and I have the receipts to prove it (see attached). If you are willing to lie about something as silly as timeframes, what else would you be willing to lie about? Review: My experience with these folks has been simply terrible. I purchased two of the fancy rats from Pet Planet on May 27th. These rats were going to be our new family pets, and my kids were excited to welcome them to our family. For the most part, the initial purchase went ok. The person who was working that day helped answer questions, and generally seemed friendly. The one thing that struck me odd about our conversation was a last minute comment as I was leaving the store. He said "Let me know if you run into any health issues." I thought this a bit odd, and wondered what potential health issues the rats had for such a comment to be made. Fast forward 10 days - my family went on vacation out of state and had our neighbors checking in daily on our rats. Three days into our vacation, and 13 days since our initial purchase, one of the rats dies in the middle of the night. Our neighbors checked on them bright and early and found her in her cage dead. They sent us a picture of the dead rat, and disposed of her. Fast forward a few days, and I return to the store to see if they would give me a new rat. Considering that I had the rat for less than two weeks before it died, I hoped they wouldnt hassle me about getting a new rat, free of charge. I was wrong. The person on duty that day expected me to bring the dead rat in as proof, and generally harassed me about the legitimacy of my claim. I spent a solid 5 minutes discussing what happened before he committed to getting me a new rat, but even then he was hesitant to do the right thing. Skip forward to a week. My wife checks in on the rats and finds that the second of the original pair is dead. She died during the night, and rigor mortis set in by morning. We ended up putting the rat in a bag in the freezer, so that I could provide proof that my second rat died. I call Pet Planet around 10:52am, and was verbally abused by the person on duty for a good 5 minutes. He wouldnt listen to my concerns, and immediately dived into defensive mode placing the blame on me. He berated me on the phone, consistently spoke over me, raised his voice on multiple occasions, and when I asked for the manager, he told me he was the manager! Ultimately, he said he’d refund my money and then promptly hung up on me. When I went in to get a refund, I was interrogated for a solid 10 minutes. What food had I been feeding them (the food I bought from you), what bedding did they use (the bedding I bought from you), how did they die (I must look like a vet or something)? After being verbally abused for the second time that day, the “manager” only refunded a portion of my original purchase, despite me returning everything I originally purchased. He told me “I was lucky he let me return anything at all”. Overall, my experience with these amateurs was simply terrible. If you need some verbal abuse and terrible customer service in your life, I’d recommend this pet shop. If you’re looking for quality pets and customer service, avoid them at all costs.

I feel bad writing such a poor review but I dont want someone to have the same situation. We bought a puppy from the store. They told us she had a little cold and they had it checked out by a vet and she was fine. We took her home, but the next day, it was very clear that she did not just have a little cold. She had a terrible cough, vomitting, diarrhea, and severe lethargy. It was obvious that she had kennel cough or worse. We also inspected her paperwork and saw that the vet shed seen was in Montana and a known puppy mill broker. We took her back Monday morning (we bought her Saturday night). Fortunately, they didnt make a stink about it and took her back. However they still maintained that it was just a cold or allergies. But less than a week later, my other dogs are showing the same symptoms, which Im frankly ticked off about because now I have to take her to the vet. I feel thats its very irresponsible to sell a dog that you know is sick and not be more forthcoming about her illness. Its really not fair to anyone, not to me, or the animal, and its not my responsibility to buy a sick dog and make it healthy. And now my other animals who were in perfect health are suffering for it.

Such an incredible experience. It takes all of about 2 minutes of being inside to know they care about their animals more than most other pet stores (especially Petco and petsmart). The staff is so amazingly helpful and knowledge but the best part is they TALK TO YOU. Even if my animals was purchase elsewhere they still take the time to answer my questions. As for their puppies, they are all so cute and wel taken care of. Its really unfortunate to see such horrible reviews it makes me wonder if those people have ever even been inside or are just so negative they have to be rude and nasty about a place. All the puppies are clean and the staff is not shy about telling you where they come from!!! THEY DO NOT SUPPORT puppy mills and if you think they do you clearly dont know what a puppy mill is. I will continue to shop here for ALL my pet needs. Taylor and Don the owner are so helpful and the biggest reasons I will continue to shop there. Have a great day everyone check them out!!

This is probably one the the WORST pet shops I have ever been to. I dont mind pet store that is a bit dirty and run down as long as they have a good selection and take care of their animals. This place was dirty, rundown, had no good selection of animals and their animals were in horrible condition. I saw fish that were emaciated or even missing eyes. All of the fish tanks were COVERED in thick green alge. I saw turtles in disgusting water. The place smelled terrible, and to top it all off, as I walked out of the store I found a cockroach hitching a ride on my jacket. The only good thing I might be able to say was that the people were friendly. All these comments that are full of praise on here must either be from employees, family members or people who just dont know what theyre talking about. Dont go to PetPlanet.

My experience with Nick and the other guys there at Pet Planet was phenomenal. They were super helpful in helping me choose the right pet for my situation. My daughter had originally wanted a Chameleon for Xmas and they were really honest and up front about the downsides of owning this particular pet. We ended up getting a pair of baby bearded dragons with a 30 gallon tank setup and I couldnt be happier. They are really low maintenance and great for my kids who want to handle their lizards instead of just looking at them. The store is much smaller than yourre Petco/Petsmart, but they have a way more interesting selection of animals. The prices are great and I personally like helping out the little guys in the community.... Yeah it stinks like a pet store, but what did you expect it to smell like?
