Summary: I WOULD RECOMMEND STANDARD OPTICAL based on customer service, frame selection, and warranty programs. The only reason Im giving them a 4/5 rating is because we only bought our frames and lens from them, which is only a portion of the total eye care experience. Unfortunately, we didnt use their Optician for our eye exam so I cannot fairly comment on that aspect of their business; However, when our RX expires we will return and I can update this review. Background Info: My girlfriend and I just had received our eye exam from CLASSIC Optical, which we were very disappointed with. CLASSIC Optical had a very slim selection of frames, so thats when we decided to visit STANDARD Optical. After we received our glasses, we learned that they were the wrong RX due to CLASSIC Opticals inaccurate exam. It shouldnt have surprised us, considering they operating out of small run-down house that was turned into an "opticians office" (we only went there based on reviews). Turns out CLASSIC Optical gave us an entirely different RX than what was needed and they were unwilling to replace them with the correct one because we didnt buy their frames and lens (theyll never admit that). I usually only write reviews when I either have an extraordinary experience or a terrible experience. When we found out that CLASSIC Optical had given us the wrong rx they tried to put the blame on STANDARD Optical, saying that they were the ones that made the lens so they should have to pay for the change in rx. Luckily, due to STANDARD Opticals policy and warranty they were able to correct the issue without us having to pay for CLASSIC Opticals mistake. This is the reason why were now loyal customers to STANDARD Optical and will refer friends/family that are in need of glasses, contacts, eye exam, etc. Pros: As soon as we were greeted by the staff, we knew were already far better off than the last place. I believe the Managers name was Courtney, and she was the actual person that had helped us. We gave her a basic idea of what we were looking for, and not long after, she gave us a few different options to choose from. We finally picked a pair and the pricing seemed fair. We were impressed with how friendly and professional the staff were. Cons: None so far. Thank you for making our eye care experience a much better one.

This standard optical in Murray Utah has receptionist/manager working for them that are a total joke. If you ask them if they accept your insurance over the phone when you make an appointment, they just tell you to bring your card in. When you get there they take your insurance card and scan it and send you into your exam. After your exam they tell you that your insurance is not accepted and you must pay the full price of the exam since you had the exam. Seriously, if they couldve told me on the phone or before my exam if it was accepted (since it is based on provider not place) I would have gone somewhere where my insurance covered. When I called back and talked to the manager they basically told me that it was my fault and there was nothing they could do. I called corporate and they assured me that they would speak to the manager of the store and get me a discount. They assured me someone from either the store would call me or someone from corporate would call me, Not one single phone call. I would definitely not recommend going here to anyone!

I have been going there for a while and have never had trouble with them until my last appointment. During my appointment the eye doctor made me go on my first instinct telling me not to think about it or else it wouldnt work and then told me that my perscrition had not changed much. When I went to pick out my glasses and order them they told methey would be ready in 5-7 days. I came back in 7 days because thats when they were supposed to be ready and they always have been within a week. When I went back the glasses were not there and the receptionist lady did not tell me why they werent there or when they would be and told me to go home and that they would call me when my glasses were in. When I got home I called them and asked what was going on andsome last told me they would take a bit longer because of the thickness of the lens ( which was not previously mentioned) and that they should be in by Tuesday. They did not even ask me if I would like to get my lense thinned (which I usually do).

I went here for my first ever eye exam. My insurance covers 100% of a standard eye exam, so I had my insurance company call in advance to ensure the exam was purely preventative. However, during the exam, the Doctor decided to perform a dry eye test without telling me it was not a part of the standard eye exam. He told me I have dry eyes (which I dont and have never had an issue with) and therefore coded the exam as medical diagnostic, which my insurance doesnt cover. I didnt ask for the extra test, which was completely inaccurate anyway, and now they are trying to charge me for the exam. My insurance provider said they can cancel the claim and reissue a correct claim, however Standard Optical staff has lied to me saying the insurance company wouldnt allow a redaction of the previous claim. Very unhelpful, unprofessional and dishonest.

Great Experience! Jesse and his team got me ready for my Lasik prodecure, they did an amazing job. I was nervous about gettting Lasik but all my concerns and questions were competently handled and I felt really confident going into the procedure. It has now been 10 days since and I see perfectly! You dont realize how life changing Lasik can be until you take that leap. I am 20/15 in my left eye and 20/20 in my right. Amazing. By the way, I highly reccomend Dr. Williams if youre thinking of getting Lasik. We are fortunate to have A LOT of great options for Lasik in Utah so do your research and find a doctor you like. But in my opinion Dr. Williams in one of the best. He and his staff are top notch! :) Thank you Standard Optical for a great experience and perfect vision!!

Difficult to work with, and the optometrists come and go faster than you can imagine. This makes it difficult to accomplish anything without making another appointment (a doctor who hasnt seen you wont prescribe anything - which I admit is fair). They only sell specific contact brands, and they wont allow you to get a different brand based on your prescription without being seen by a doctor - even if it is one they have prescribed you in the past. The staff is friendly and great, but the business structure, and the revolving door of optometrists makes it a difficult place to work with. Id recommend finding an established optometrist who is going to be around in six months when you have a question, or would like to get a new pair of contacts.

We went to this SO with a groupon valued at $180. Turned out to be a total rip off. We had the eye exam and the lady couldnt give us an estimate on the lenses. In the end we were going to pay about $400 apart from the groupon. When we said we couldnt pay, they charged us $60 for the eye exam and said we couldnt use the groupon. We couldnt use the groupon with our health insurance too. Total rip-off. We ended up going to Americas Best where they were offering a free eye exam plus two frames for $69.65. Please do not go there. Their staff are not friendly too.We should have read the reviews before going there. Please dont buy the groupon for SO! Go to Americas Best!
