I went to this store today to look for a high grade Shimano slat water fishing reel ($300+). I asked one guy who was checking the price that I need help. He went over to the Hunting dept counter and asked a guy to help me. This guy said he would get the key and help me but he was helping a customer with hand gun. So I waited. After 20 min, the guy didnt buy gun and this Academy guy went to the counter and just looked at the computer terminal. I came over and asked him again, and he said he was busy. I waited another 15 minutes and the idiot knew I was waiting and just ignored me. I went to the front and addressed the issue to the manager. He didnt help much. I dont know why Academy has such idiots running the store. When a customer needs help and you are not helping any customer, just drop what you are doing and help the customer. I threw back all the stuffs I had and walked out. I hope Academy reads this post and takes corrective action.

Tried to buy my girl a handgun today, she gives the clerk her state ID with the old address, then gives him the conceal handgun permit that has the new address, she makes him aware of this to make sure he puts the correct address, and for being honest he gets the manager and they refuse to sell her the gun because the CHL issued by the state of Texas is not a form of ID, and the DL does not have the current address. I take out my ID and tell him well let me buy the gun, he tells me thats illegal because they know the gun is for her. So they refused the sale, now we just drove to the nearest academy 10 minutes away, I didnt say anything about the old address on the ID and bought the same gun. THIS IS REALLY STUPID, MORAL OF THE STORY, DO NOT BE HONEST AND ALWAYS LIE, SAVES TIME AND GAS. Special thanks to Steve the manager on duty 2/14/16, for making me drive to another store to buy the same gun with the same ID.

I went in to purchase a very high capacity very assaulty kind of rifle, one with a scary pistol grip and folding stock, only to find out Daniel Defense no longer supplies to Academy. Instead I was urged to purchase bird watching books and unitards for Pilates classes. When I tried to buy fishing gear, the sales clerk would only ring me up if I promised to use barbless hooks and only practice catch and release (I crossed my fingers when I promised). Then on the way out I yelled "Release? Release to the GREASE!" After that they all chased me out of the parking lot, but became tired quickly because they all obviously smoked a lot of pot.

I walked over to the gun and rifle area wanting to buy a new toy for my father, a new hand gun. We stood in front of the gun cases, waiting for at least an acknowledgement from the three employees just hanging out. I could have been rude and interupted them but I waited for them to finish talking they just kept talking and actually turned their backs to us. The two behind the counter just gaves us once over glance. Instead they talked about a pranked they pulled on each other. This is not the first time this has happened to us at this location. Work on customer service Academy.

Bad service at fishing&hunting. They are raises at all. I stood and wait them done their conversation and i said i want to exchange my fishing rod. They scanned it, the green blue pops up i seen it but they say this item is not in system and i can not return this. After that i have come back to customer services and they refund me my money. Either they are raises or lazy i dont know, but the guy who dont let me return is fat guy and dark skin Many customer complain about this academy service but why they still keep this problem

So they advertise a father day special. Sale went on sale Thursday. Thursday night they are out. Friday night they are out. Not one store in Houston has it. The Taurus p11 gun special with the revolver. Why did you advertise it if you were only selling 40 of them. Very disappointed in the way they advertise this ad. Beware of these false advertisement. The guy ad gun counter was rude a d told me I should had called in advance. Why should I when the website said they had them in stock

If youre looking for a sports store, then this is your store! Aside from clothes, this store has the best prices for both shoes and sporting goods than anywhere I have been. The other positive is they have a pretty big selection of name brands, so whether youre on a budget, or are looking for a known brand they can help you out. The only reason I gave this store 4 out of 5 stars is because their clothes are extremely expensive, and they rarely have any college attire.

The store is alright, but they have way looks to be some construction going on in the front. My daughter tripped and fell over the carpet that was not very smoothly placed in the doorway. We told the employee at the nearby counter (close enough that he probably saw her fall) but he didnt do anything to fix it. In the boot/shoe department, there are misplaced boots and shoes all over the place.

They put a Fatherd day add for buy one gun get one free. Apparently they only had like 50 to give out. 50 Really?!?! In a town of 250,000....no rain checks and out of stock the day after the weekly ad started. Pretty stupid and how many angry patrons do you think have due to incompetence of underestimating your Shopper base?!?! Good thing Cabelas is in the area now.

Fine young man in the gun department was extremely helpful last night and showed my wife every .380 they had... He took his time with her and made us both feel like we were the stores only customers. This was the exact opposite of Cabellas who acted like we were not worthy to be waited on! I will not go back to Cabellas!

Bought a Glock 26 Gen 4 today after being put on a delay for a couple of days by the NICS. Picked it up and took it to the gun range and was very impressed. The store always has friendly gun guys and the manager is always nice during the finalization of the gun sale. This store always has plenty selection of ammo and guns!

Decent size store but lacking in the shoe department. They tend to carry the lower end models and dont provide a lot of options on colors. And they NEVER seem to have my size which is pretty common (10 mens). Never anyone around to help with shoes. Too many items in the store are not priced and no price tags on shelves.

The gun counter keeps this place from. Getting 5 stars from me. I asked a coupe of simple questions about a firearm and the employees reply was "i just started here and I dont know anything about guns". It is my opinion that an employee at the gun counter should be verry knowledgeable about the products they are selling.
