In this town, if you decide to make doughnuts you really have to step up to the plate. This is a case where good enough is not good enough. Its too easy for Houstonians to get their doughnut fix at the excellent Shipleys locations. I waited a while between my first two visits when River Oaks had just been open for a month or so and now, October 2014. After a bite out of a strawberry filled and a standard iced, I spit out the cold, gummy mess and tossed the remaining doughnuts in a trash can. Now, it is most probable that when they come out in the morning and are still hot from the fryer, they may be extremely good. So please take what I say with a grain of salt. All I can go by is that it seems that, whatever time of the day I pick up doughnuts from Shipleys, regardless of location, they are warm and taste fresh. And if you do go to River Oaks earlier in the day and find them to be good, please let me know and I will gladly retract my comments above.

High end doughnuts! I love my doughnuts, and I was really excited about getting their cronuts... However when I got there they were some out, which was my fault for showing up a half hour before close. Pro tip-you can call ahead and reserve an order, I will be doing this next time! I was not a fan of the coffee, tasted burnt to me. The sausage kolache are the best I have had, far better than the standard. The Boston cream had more frosting on it than it needed, the chocolate was over powering. I also tried the oreo cookie peanut butter doughnut... And it was amazing!!! Parking is tight, and there is no room in the store to eat, however they do have a few small tables outside. If you go through the drive through you can bypass the parking problem, and there is a park across the street that is a nice place to enjoy your yummy treats. I will definitely be going back here, cant wait to try the cronut!

Ive been here a few times because its one of the quickest places around here to get myself breakfast before I need to be in for work, but every single time Im utterly disappointed. I always hear them telling other customers that theyre out of certain things and its happened to myself twice so it seems to be fairly consistent. They also stick their cold stuff in the microwave and when it comes out its dry, chewy and stale tasting. For the price, I always expect better but its always just as gross as it was the last time I tried it. The customer service is also not what Id expect coming into this establishment but it kinda is what it is.. Basically, if a Shipleys opened up next door, theyd be out of business in a heart beat.

I dont recommend this place for their donuts. They have lots of options and variety (blueberry cake, red velvet, chocolate, pumpkin spice, glazed, etc), all in donuts or donut hole form but they were not impressive. The donut holes were 20 cents - 40 cents each. You can get one or however many you desire, but they are not good. I do recommend if you are craving for a good kolache and dont want to go to Kolache Factory or Shipleys Donuts, and youre in the area..try theirs out. They have PRASEK sausage. Super good! Try the sausage, cheese, and jalapeno one. There are no jalapenos; the sausage just has a little kick.

Stopped in today because it was close to where I was working. Good thing for them they didnt post prices on the menu outside. 23.58 for two dozen donuts. I normally dont leave reviews especially bad ones and if the donuts were half way decent I wouldnt have. The glazed donuts may have been cooked today but doubt it. I went at 7:00am and the glazed donuts were cold and wet. The blueberry cake (usually my favorite) were border line stale. They were probably cooked the day prior. Good flavor but not fresh. Definitely not worth a dollar a donut.

While many of their donuts are covered in sweet glazes, I liked their old-fashioned donuts and their blueberry cake donuts. They were less sweet than some others Ive had. Their maple bacon donut also has an option with jalapeno, which moves toward a more balanced flavor. The shortcoming is that they dont have the matching funky style of a gourmet local donut; they have lots of young fresh-faced staff who are very quick instead.

This place was a little better than ok. The donuts are good albeit they are a little more dense than other places (dont expect the light and fluffy donut). The kronut was good but a little pricey. I wasnt impressed with the bacon, egg, and cheese kolache. There also isnt any seating inside so you either sit at one of two tables outside in the heat/rain/etc, in your car, or take it home.

Management is very unprofessional. Dont be fooled by the "Upscale River Oaks Vibe" this place has,the Kolaches and Donuts are well NOT worth the price portrayed on the menu seen by great customers(I make them). Not a very good place to work for growth. I Would not recommend to anyone looking for a good job and expect to be treated fairly in the work place, or for a good donut, SERIOUSLY.

Im not into publicly bashing small businesses because I have the utmost respect for them. But this place is lacking in delivering an experience that entices you to want to ever return. Customer service and attention to detail lacks in this place. Not to mention the cold expensive donuts that they serve. Word to the wise...ALWAYS check your order.

BEST DONUTS EVER. I think Ive eaten a fair share of donuts in my life, and by fair share i mean too many.. the donuts here are fresh and delicious and amazing. They have really cool flavors and they even have cro-nuts! they also have really delicious kolaches made with praseks sausage. Super cute shop. Super good donuts. Super great service.

today I pick up a cimmamon roll the dough was raw in the inside.......not happy ....... for the price we paid we should get cooked donuts...... 6/12 Happy to report the cimmamon roll was delicious and very well cooked thank you so much for taking care of it..........

The cashier was kind of rude, but I was focused on the doughnuts. Lots of different varieties available, especially for doughnut holes! We got lemon filled and Nutella filled and they did not disappoint.

Their raspberry donut holes were like donut gushers. It was amazing. Tried my first cronut as well and that was good. Give this place a try.
