I was so impressed by their selection and by their prices! They said they could order a custom iron door for me exactly the way I wanted it but it would have to be custom made. They said it would take up to 3 months to come in but possibly before that. I paid $2382.96 for the door and hardware and was happy to wait the 3 months. 2 weeks before the 3 month mark I called and they said that the shipment hadnt come in yet but it would definitely be there the next week. I called the next Friday and they told me the shipment still hadnt come in and that they would let me know. I waited an additional week and a half to contact them again (at this point is had gone over the 3 month mark) only to be told it would be another 2 months. They currently have and have had my $3000 with the promise to provide me with the custom iron door I order within a 3 month time frame. At this point I have no door and they have my money. Of course there is no manager available to speak with and the only thing they offered me was to refund my money they have been holding for over 3 months now. Do not do business with this company. This is a follow up to my earlier review which is 100% accurate as it happened to me. After submitting my review the owner contacted me and ended up cussing at me (using the F word 2 times), threatening me with a lawyer and hanging up on me. They finally refunded my money 2 days after this. However, I received a letting from an attorney representing them trying to bully me and take away my first amendment right. The attorney claims that if I do not remove all my internet postings and withdrawal my complaint from the BBB that they may file a law suit against me. I will not be bullied and allow my rights to be taken from me. If you wonder why this company doesnt have many negative ads, its because they feel it ok to bully people and to take away their rights.

Prices are good, selection is good, quality is very good, customer service is very good - during the sale. We felt shmucked-over at the install part. Per Adi and Mack, SBM has their own in-house installers for flooring. So they are familiar and dependable. Had we known ahead of time that that was not the case, we might have hired our own contractors for flooring installs. I have to say the price we paid for install was probably unbeatable. And in the end it all looks good. We had engineered hard woods installed on a slab, and we had tile installed. The wood floor crew showed up on time the first day Monday - and did almost nothing. They assured us they would be done by Wed. Then it would be done by Thurs. We needed the house Friday. The install crew did arrive early to finish that Friday, but apparently had plenty of time to finish some huge take-out chicken meal then not do any clean up. As I told Adi and Mack, leaving chicken bones, drink cups, take-out food bags and trash in my living room, and leaving wood scraps and packaging in my yard is bad for repeat business. The one and only one tile installer worked for 6 days, tirelessly. He did a really good job all things considered. He kept saying he was supposed to have help and somebody would be coming later. I know the job would have been done faster, cleaner, slightly better if he had help. We gave him a tip. I hope that wood floor crew goes out of business. Maybe it would help to be able to speak Portuguese.

I ordered some Black Walnut wood look tiles from them. The few tiles that werent damaged looked great. More than half of the tiles had a chip, a crack, or were mistinted. I was expecting some damage, but not nearly that much. I wish I would have paid a little bit more and bought it at Lowes. That way I could have easily returned any that were damaged. I posted a negative review on their website but for some strange reason (or not so strange reason) it was never posted. My response back to the owner: I never called your store after my experience, nor did I claim to. I did try to post a negative review on your website about the Black Walnut tiles. I was really disappointed that your company filters the reviews and that you did not post mine. That is why I posted a review here, since you cant filter it. Please stop filtering the reviews on your own website. It is not honest.

Went into the store and everyone seemed very nice and helpful but that is where the good experience ended. Got a quote on granite for a great price but when it came time to set the appointment for the final measurements it took several phone calls to get someone to set an appointment. Then after they did the measurements, which were the same as the ones we did and got quoted on, the price jumped $500. They were not willing to work with us nor did they have a reason why it jumped $500. They were also unwilling to refund the $125 we paid for the measurements and now we are either out $125 or forced to pay $500 more than quoted. Lesson learned we will never use them again nor will be recommend them to any of our friends! Unless you want to be scammed I suggest you stay away!

We got iron doors, cabinet hardware, and tile from Ron and Mo at Surplus Building Materials. Great experience. Big store. Lots of options for tile, doors, and much more. I have visited their store many times when I have been in Dallas on business. When it came time to get some items for the house we are building, I called them to order. Since we live out of state, we had all the products shipped to us. I was a little concerned about the 6080 and 3068 iron doors (and frames) making the trip undamaged, but my fears were for nothing. Everything was packaged perfectly and all the products were very secure. The shipment arrived intact and in perfect condition.

My wife and I checked out this place for a floor remodel project. The staff, especially Ruben, at SBM was very helpful. On our first visit Ruben provided us with all the floor samples we needed to take home and evaluate and even recommended a contractor for our project. After making a decision, I called Ruben to confirm they could fill the order to replace our entire downstairs flooring. He said they would have it ready for me to pick up as soon as I got there, which was about an hour later. They had everything ready when I arrived. Overall experience was great. I will be going back for our other remodel projects.

My contractor informed me I needed 2 boxes of hardwoods for my floor, which I purchased from Surplus Building Materials. They were a "special order" meaning I ended up picking them up from a factory about 5 miles south. No big deal. Once the job was completed it was apparent I only needed 1 box of hardwoods, not 2. A few weeks later I attempted to return the unopened 2nd box and was told they dont take returns on these types of special orders. So now I have a $75 box of unopened hardwoods in my garage. I dont see why these cant be returned or at least minus some sort of stocking fee. Kind of crummy service.
