I just had a horrible experience at the West Wichita Menards. I went to the lighting section and the lady working the lighting area had no idea about lighting fixtures. I went to buy insulation and the guy making the ticket barely knew how to use their computer system, so it was a really long wait. I asked where foam in a can was and he told me their wall area, but couldnt direct me to where the wall area was, just over there. I go to the lumber yard and wait no less than 30 minutes for a forklift to load the insulation. Who shows up? A forklift? No, some kid who wanted to load a ton of insulation by had. I ask him if a forklift driver is coming, he says he doesnt know. We get to a stopping point where we need a forklift and asks me if a forklift driver is coming to help. I ask him to radio for one, he says they dont Carey radios. He lazily walks off to go get a forklift driver and Ive had enough, I climb up the wall of insulation and drag off a bundle and load the heavy SOB myself. On the way out we wait another 20 minutes in line to get out of the lumber yard. In summary, poor management, extremely poor communication, and poor training.

Not the best shopping experience Ive had. Employees for courteous but not very knowledgeable. And I did ask one employee where I could find information on sheds. He then told me that it was down a 1x2 aisle which I have no idea what a 1x2 aisle means so I started going to the place where hes sort of pointed at. I did finally find her some pricing information on some sheds there was no wooden ones there were no metal ones they were mostly carport covers and your plastic ones so I dont even know if they carry other types of sheds other than that. I did not see any any pricing on any wouldnt chads on metal sheds and the sheds werent there you had to go out to the garden center actually find a product after that. All in all a pretty poor performance by that employee. The employee I talked to him paint tried to help me the best he could he was very courteous and acted like he really wanted to try to work with me but you could tell his knowledge of polyurethanes was not there and is knowledge of the different brands was very poor. I give him an a for effort but knew he could use some more training

I was there a couple of weeks ago and will go again tomorrow. The last time I was there I needed help finding where a few items were located. I came across a couple of employees at a service desk and BOTH of them volunteered to walk with me to where the items were stocked. I keep track of prices and sales and Menards holds their own with their competitors (Lowes, Home Depot, etc.) Several months ago I happened to be at the loading dock waiting for a big order. Watching the team unload the trucks and communicate with departmental employees that merchandise was ready to be stocked in their areas...pretty impressive. I appreciate all of the stores who cater to those of us who try to take care of our homes and I rank them in order of how helpful theyve been to me. Menards, then Lowes, then Home Depot. But its a close competition depending upon what I need.

Needed some untreated wainscoat board that was advertised on sale. Went in on the end with lumber, couldnt find it, had to ask three employees until they finally determined it was at the other end of the store. They didnt give directions, so it required asking two more employees for final location. When we found it, the posted price was not the advertised price, so at the cash register the cashier rang the manager and said "this customer is COMPLAINING that the price is wrong". We had the ad, we had been told that the item was indeed on sale, and yet Im complaining because their register is wrong? Sorry, for driving all the way to BFE, having the staff not be able to direct us to the item were there to purchase, and then being an inconvenience to the store...well do our shopping closer at a store that wants our money.

I ordered a preformed pond online and had it shipped to store. I got an email stating that the pond was ready for pickup, so I hooked up the trailer and proceeded the 75 miles it takes me to get to Menards. I get to the store and the pond has a forklift fork shaped hole in it. Menards employee pretty much tells me they dont inspect their inbound freight unless you call ahead and make sure they do. Got a refund on the pond, but Im still out the time and gas of driving to the store. Poor customer service in their shipping and receiving department.

I have done allot of business at this location with various projects. As a rule the staff has been friendly and helpful...that is until my last visit. I was looking for some hardware and lumber to finish a project in my garage and asked an employee named Ken for assistance. He was very rude and informed me that that was not his area and told me I would need to find someone else to help me. Sometimes its not what you say but how you say it. At Lowes they always take the time to either assist or find someone who can.

Brant is among the best box store managers i have ever seen. The roofing department did an outstanding job of helping us get the the best looking possible shingle to match our paint on our house. We took them a picture of our house . They knew enough about there shingles and what the shingles actually look like to match them to the picture.We were amazed at how awsome our house lòoked after the shingles were installed thats when we realy knew how much menards wichita west really helped us

Went for some screw in table legs. You would think they would be in lumber...they are not. And it took me 30 minutes to locate someone to tell me they were at the other end of the store. Only until I got to the other section did someone finally ask if I needed help. They did have what I needed but they are not helpful and look the other way unless you go after them. Try a more helpful store instead.

Very friendly staff and always willing to assist you with any questions. Large selection of products at a very decent price. I would highly recommend this business for all your home improvement or small business needs. Their guarantee policy of satisfaction is one of the top businesses I have ever dealt with. We have been in Menards the last 3 days, and have been very impressed with how much the store has improved.. we had excellent help in flooring, and today when we forgot our pickup paper, the man, Tyler in the back was able to look the order up, and got it for us. The young man at the outside gate was great also.. We will be back...

This place had a little of everything.....well, they try to. They fail. They try to get into way too many things often leading to a very poor selection in many areas. It makes the store unbearably large to navigate. Just, way to big. They have decent prices, often on outdated product. The service tends to be nonexistent.
