Ive been at least 3 times over the last 12 years. According to staff, the shop recently changed owners, who improved operations. Things are more professional as a result (most pawnshops are sleezy, this one isnt). Staff was helpful and enthusiastic about musical instruments, even offering to special order anything they didnt have in stock, or calling another store. Prices are realistic. Staff seems genuinely interested in music. As a former music major, going to McBrides is a pleasure. With the massive music program at UNT, and vivid live/alternative/rock/country scene, they always have a good selection of high quality instruments. Its also on the courthouse square, with lots of diverse and interesting neighbors. If you go to check out their instruments, be sure to check out the used records and CDs at "Recycled Books Records CDs". And go inside the old courthouse. The old square is one of the best in Texas.

This is the second time I purchased from McBride Music & Pawn and it was an outstanding experience in both cases. All listings of used items I was looking up that would show on the pictures scuffs, scratches, smudges or small cosmetic disperfections would mention those in the description as well. These guys are honest and would not try to hide anything just to make sales - and this is more an exception in the time we are living in. Both times I purchased the condition of the items even exceeded my expectation, the two were mint, like new, never found something like that in a local pawn store. I am an active eBay member, but McBride is already bookmarked and routinarily researched when looking for used pro audio equipment. Thank you guys, you have a new family member!

I went in for the 1st time the other day looking for a unique birthday present for my husband. Everyone there was so nice and helpful. The staff took the time to educate me on the item I was looking to buy, from the exact condition of the item, how to use the item, and the specs of the product. The quality of time that they spent with me made me feel confident in my purchase and the item I was buying. After all that, they even reassured me that if my husband did not end up liking the gift, that there would be no issue returning the item. Turns out, my husband loved the gift! Since my initial visit, I have been in several times. They remember me each time I come in and are always very welcoming. We are customers for life!

12/5/10 UPDATE: Today the guys at McBride were total jerks. Maybe it was just that they were having a bad day, but Ive been a customer there for many years and will have to think long and hard as to whether I will ever return. You never know what youre going to find in McBrides. They carry quite a few guitars and have a tech on staff to answer questions. Ive pawned more than one musical instrument there and have never had any problems. Ive also bought plenty of strings, picks, microphones, and some guitars and have always left with a smile on my face.

If I need something I go to Cody. As far as a pawn shop in Denton, this is the best place. Ive been in Denton my whole life and support McBrides. I always deal with Cody when I go there just because Ive known him longer than the others and he takes care of me. For example, I wanted to buy a high end guitar and he knew I didnt need to spend that kind of money for plunking around on the back porch and put me onto the guitar I have now. Ive purchased many things from McBrides through the years and always have been 100 percent satisfied.

Ive never really pawned and instrument before but I had an unexpected expense during my move to Texas and needed to figure out something until payday so I brought them an amp and two guitars and they gave me a better price than anyone offered anywhere else. They really were fair and werent trying to run Us in the ground. They gave us a good amount of what they are going to sell it for and they were very honest and forthcoming and let us make an offer. This is the most honest establishment for this kind of thing I have ever seen.

Ive visited McBrides a lot since i moved to Denton a few years ago and have always enjoyed the staff and the customer service there. If youre going in expecting a Guitar Center experience where the staff is always up your butt and paid based on what they sell then maybe you should stick with that. If you want a laid back experience with staff that actually know their stuff and will work with you on pricing, McBrides Music & Pawn is a great little locally owned store where your money spent goes back into the community.

Nuts and Bolts to Strings and Heads....Impact drivers and Aluminum Neck works of art have never been so blessed to have passed through this magical pawn! Grab a coffee next door, or a beer down the way and you will find yourself ever so pleased with this small towns quaint virtues. Have dealt with these people on the music and pawn level. These people are not nice, they will overcharge you for repairs and lowball you for things you are trying to sell or pawn. The three times Ive been in there Ive either been insulted, mocked or generally treated rudely, which is rare in the music community. With Denton being a music town there is plenty of other options for guitar repair around town and better places to pawn your stuff if you need to. AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS!

This place is not so great. Indeed, it is a staple of the Denton square and music scene, but customer service is suspect and the prices are nothing special. Ive yet to see a guitar that i considered a worthy deal and they offer very little for your guitars if you want to sell. Dont even bother if you are a bass player! If you need to buy or repair a musical instrument, do yourself a favor and avoid this place. Sky guitars is just down the street and is much better.

STAY AWAY!!! These reviews are here for a reason. When I orignally spoke with a sales person, the item was described in excellent condition. As I went over the instrument, I found several things wrong. Their continual exclamation of "I dont play that instrument" is a poor excuse for incorrect descriptions. If you are going to be in the music business, find people who know music or ask someone. DO NOT SHOP HERE!!!! Stay away!!! Poor customer service.

For the last few weeks Ive been looking for the right pedal to purchase. After some reading I decided to go with the MXR Distortion+ guitar pedal. I found a very fair priced pedal on Ebay from McBride Music & Pawn and immediately made the purchase. This was used pedal but it worked perfectly with minor blemishes on the pedal. Shipping was fast and it was packaged well. 5/5 experience and will purchase again from this seller. Thanks!

Purchased a guitar they had listed thru eBay. It was better than described. I received it so fast it was better than Amazons two day shipping and it was packed more securely than anything I have ever received and Im 54! Will I do business with MvBride Music & Pawn again?
