This review is difficult to write because Im told my experience is very rare, and after learning about our experience, management did their best to right a wrong that couldnt be fixed. However, that doesnt change how terrible it was. [Tuesday] My husband and I came in with interest in a particular car, Toyota Corolla, that we found online. We worked with Jay Cooper who helped us test drive a few different vehicles, when we decided our favorite was still the Corolla. However, the one we wanted wasnt quite ready yet. So, Jay told us we could put a $500, non-refundable security deposit down to secure the car, after giving all our information to finance the vehicle. He told us he would let us know well in advance when it was ready so we could come and test drive it and make sure everything was good to go. We did everything he told us to. The next day we talked with Jay about numbers and financing. The day after that we reached out to him and clarified questions, I even asked if he had any sense of idea when the car would be ready (no, he didnt). [Friday] My husband gets a call from Jay stating that there had been a policy change, and they no longer accepted $500 security deposit, so it was boiling down to first come first serve. 7 MINUTES later, my husband was there trying to fix this, only to find someone else test driving the car, and because they had keys in hand, they had the right to buy it--which they did. We did EVERYTHING we were told to do to secure that car. Had we know it was first come first serve, we would have acted accordingly. Had we know we hadnt secured the car, we would have acted accordingly. The second we DID know, we did everything we could, and it wasnt enough. We werent even informed that the car was front-line ready and could be test driven. Needless to say, we were devastated and I was furious. Naturally I called management. They were confused as to why this happened because that policy was changed weeks ago. There was NO reason this should have happened and the salesman knew that. Of course, management did what they could to make us happy customers, but it boiled down to getting a different used vehicle, with more miles and slightly less quality for a higher list price. I will happily admit that the people we worked with next were as great as they could be to us. We tried to find the silver lining in what happened, but the fact is--it shouldnt have happened. We didnt want to buy a car from them after that, but our credit was already damaged and the financing was drawn up because of what happened earlier that week. Ultimately, we did buy a car through them, but I wouldnt recommend them after what happened to us.

At Drivers Select, I had a better experience than I ever anticipated. I created an online application and was contacted by Josh Lopez very quickly thereafter. Within a matter of a few hours, I had approved financing with no money down and no co-signer required. For me this was unheard of. I asked for a day to think about it and it was no problem at all. They recommended I place a 500 security deposit on the vehicle to ensure it didn’t sell. (I wasn’t in a position to do this, so I declined and said I would take my chances.) To my amazement, I was not pressured at all. Additionally Josh Lopez was unbelievably incredible through the whole process. He made me feel as though I was his only customer. In the area of customer service, I am very, very hard to please and I despise poor customer service with a passion. However, Josh exceed all of my expectations, answered all my questions and worked to ensure I had everything I needed. The next day, I called to confirm my financing rates, and check if there was anything else the dealer needed for me to drive away in the vehicle. Again, to my surprise, I didn’t need any additional documentation or approvals. I brought proof of insurance, verified my paper work, signed and drove away in my 2011 Elantra. The process at the dealership took an hour at most. I was actually able to purchase a car on my lunch break. This was astonishing since all of my previous experiences were waiting for hours at the dealership while the finance guys found a way to up sell you with “stuff” at the end of the deal. My experience was so far above anything I had dealt with before. The only recommendation that the team had for me at signing was GAP insurance. Again, I did not feel pressured, they gently reassured me that this would be the final time it was available so they wanted to be sure I was informed. When I got the vehicle home I realized a few of the tail lights were burned out. I originally felt that vehicle had not been fully inspected. However, Josh put me in contact with Bill Anderson, service manager, to discuss my concerns. Bill made sure I was taken care of and that I did not have to come out of pocket to correct the condition. I did have to do a visit to the dealership and then again to my local Hyundai to have the issue resolved, which I would have preferred not to do. But in the end, the team really took care of my needs. Drivers Select does stand by the vehicle they sell you and want to ensure you are happy with the vehicle. I am very pleased and I would recommend this experience to anyone who needed to purchase a vehicle.

I am backing them down to 3 stars for poor followup. No tags received (yet they dealership received them and did not call me, they put the wrong zip code on our paperwork); we have not received any car payment info from lender (wrong zip code on our paperwork which we showed them at closing); they owe us a car cleaning and they have not followed through. I am stalking them daily! Other than that, for the purchase part, here is my review.....we had a good experience. all done in one day, credit was great (very low rates, matched my CU). cons: they are disorganized. I made an appointment, told them what cars i wanted to drive, they said they would have them on the lot. They did not have them. we waited and waited and waited. finally got one we wanted to drive and bought it, gave up on the rest. service: car smells smokey. super responsive service, but the service company that is supposed to show up has not called. Thats been 3 weeks so I continue to stalk them. Tags: 4 weeks and they have not shown up. They had my zip code wrong on my finance papers which i corrected but wondering if they caught it for my tags. Overall, I will use them again just for the ease factor. I used Jeff Jewell, He was very nice an fairly responsive but did seem a bit disorganized. So bring your sense of humor and plan on spending extra time. The cars are in two lots so you HAVE to make an appointment and if the car you want is not there, you have to wait until they bring it. Thats a pain. BUT, all cars are on line. pricing is on line, fees are online. They do try and upsell you extended warranties (that start from day one of purchase, NOT when manufacturers warranty expires) so ask questions. They also try and sell you gap insurance. Both of those do add up. We are happy with your Honda purchase and the price we got. A top of the line civic for about $7K less than a new one would be, and with only 15K miles on it. Car is in excellent shape. They are constantly bringing in new cars as well so you can see whats about to be added to the website on their holding lot where you drive the cars. They also update website regularly. Ours was removed from the website once we made our deposit (which is no refundable by the way so make sure you are sure before you whip out your card). Keys: they only offered one and said I could have another made (keyless entry, push button so its a key fob). He said cheaper than Honda if I did it at DS: $250. I called Honda, its $135, much cheaper. So Jeff was mistaken or upselling me. They should come with two keys, all cars do.
