For years I had wanted my first tattoo to be a full back tattoo but as I was saving money for it I didnt want just anyone to do it. I knew that amazing tattoos arent cheap. I didnt want to risk getting a bad tattoo that I would have to live with for the rest of my life. I live in Tyler Tx, and though there are amazing artists here, I never got that WOW factor that spoke to me. After so much research I decided to look into the Dallas area and thats when I came across Richard Garcia at Legacy Arts Tattoo. His tattoos were absolute pieces of art. They were masterpieces. I wanted him and only him to do my tattoo. After contacting him it was brought to my attention that he doesnt usually take out-of-town clients for the possible reason that he may have to cancel on me and that was completely okay with me. I was very persistent. I didnt want anyone else and so with that he took both me and my husband in for appointments. With the amazing talent that I saw in his tattoos, I knew Richard Garcia knows exactly what hes doing. I told him what I wanted and had complete faith that he would make it look amazing. I told him I wanted my back tattoo to be a 4 seasons tree. Because I live out of town it wasnt until the day I was getting my tattoo that I first got to see what he had in store for my back and it made my jaw drop. It was absolutely beautiful! His creativity is off the roof, his detail is astounding, and his use of color is incredible! After 3 sessions I have a masterpiece on my back and Im definitely coming back to get the background filled with his watercolor effects. Shortly after I got my tattoo it was time for my husband to get his. We would talk a lot about what exactly he wanted. He wanted armor incorporated with a stag with a tribal appearance to it. Seeing Richard Garcia create such an astounding tattoo out of our references was unbelievable. The detail of the stag just blew me away and the armor and the tribal incorporated into it all made such an incredible tattoo. My husband and I are both very amazed with Richard Garcias work. He pays so much attention to detail. He is super honest and professional. The studio and staff are also very friendly and professional. Weve been there 6 times and every time it has been nothing but a great experience. There is so much talent and creativity there. I highly recommend this place to everyone!

Wow. My first review Ive done, but I had to based on this experience. I saw some work for more popular places here in the DFW area, and theyre good and all, but not quite what I was looking for, and not much variation. I made sure to do my homework when it came to choosing the right artist, lord knows a lot of us have made an impulsive decision on any artist just because they wanted a tattoo on the fly. Legacy arts is kind of a hidden little shop with the big words "TATTOO". Could be easy to miss. If this place had as much traffic as some of the popular places based on location and word of mouth, this place (I personally believe) could blow them out of the water. One small thing I didnt like was the huge sign that said piercings as well, and I was slightly disappointed I wasnt going to be getting a piercing too because there is no piercer. Just a little misleading, but thats okay. Upon arriving ( 3 times in 2 days), every time I was greeted by one of the artists. Very respectful guys with a pretty bad ass personality. Not only was there a greeting, you could sit with them and have a real, down to earth, legit conversation. I could talk to any of these guys about anything and completely be myself. Even when I was getting tattooed, you could have a conversation with them too. My favorite artists were Richard Garcia and James Corgill (personal preference). My girlfriend and I both got tattooed by James. Alike all the other guys with the great conversation, James had that as well. My girlfriend and I both absolutely loved the guy. Not just because he was nice, respectful, and a great conversationalist, but also because he was everything you could want in a tattoo artist. He was a very honest man with killer talent. I either probably annoyed the hell out of him, or made his head bigger because I wouldnt shut up about how much I loved my tattoo through the whole thing. Lol, but this place is average price (you get what you pay for), and you honestly could not go wrong. Both her and I are very happy with the service and our beautiful artwork that I couldnt be more honored to have on my body for the rest of my life. Id give more stars if I could. Ill definitely be back.

I contacted James Corgill to discuss my fifth tattoo, but my first serious piece of ink, which would ultimately fill up most of my upper arm. Of course I was drawn in by the vibrant, colorful designs found via the gallery on the website and Facebook page, so I at least knew I had identified a potential artist for my important piece. The email exchange was concise and an in-person consultation was set. Immediately upon meeting Corgill I felt comfortable. While this was going to be my fifth piece, I was by no means an expert, and I really felt like I had little knowledge of tattoos in general, but Corgills persona did not make me feel intimidated one bit. I didnt feel silly asking questions or not knowing what to do next. When discussing what kind of piece I wanted, I also shared numerous digital images with Corgill showing the styles I liked. With this information, Corgill crafted an outline that I reviewed on my next visit. The concept fit perfectly with an existing tattoo, and the design was something I had only dreamed of happening. The piece itself took two sessions, an hour for the outline, and about 2.5 hours for the coloring. I let Corgill pick all the colors, and I didnt even peak until he was about 80% done. He is an artist, so trust in him to do you justice as long as you tell him everything about how you feel about the art that will be going on your body. I knew when describing everything to him that he would do it justice, and I was right. Not only have I been thoroughly impressed with his work -- the color palette, the intricate shading and blending, and the detail -- but so have each of my friends, even those with extensive ink! I highly recommend James Corgill for your next piece. At least review his art and give him a chance to meet with you, and youll see what I mean about him making you feel comfortable about the process, and youll also see the passion for what he does simply in how he talks with you about your ideas. I will definitely be using him for all my future art. Thanks again for the Lionheart piece, Corgill!

Moses Veliz of Legacy Arts Studio in Dallas, Texas is a Picasso of body art. My wife wanted a custom tattoo cover up of an amateur tattoo that she got as a teen. Being new to tattooing and after being unsatisfied with our local tattoo shops, we began looking out of state and discovered Legacy Arts Studio in Dallas, Texas. We were looking for an artist that would give personalized service, art consultation and aftercare instructions. We had to look no further that Moses Veliz, who had an impressive portfolio of tattoos and artwork. Moses is a creative professional artist that breaks the stereotype of the typical biker tattoo artists. He worked closely with my wife to come up with a design that not only covered the old tattoo but was also a beautiful original work of art. He’s concern for her during the entire process and the level of care he provided was stellar. If you want just a tattoo, go to your local tattoo shop, but if you’re wanting an original work of body art, go to Moses.
