I entered the store and was greeted by a young man. "...how can I help you?" "My wife and I were here last week and we have decided to purchase the desk we saw on sale." "...OK, the furniture is in the back area." And he pointed the way. I thought he was following me. No. After about 10mins I walk back to the front of the store and encounter the same person, standing by the door, rocking on his heels. I walked up to him and just stared at him. "...did you find what you were looking for?" Seriously? "Yes." We started walking back to the furniture area once again. "...which one do you want?" "This one." pointing to a desk. "...oh..hmmm.... I dunno.. I dont think we have this one." Then another store employee showed up. "He wants that desk? OK, Ill go in the back and check.." "...Wait, wait, I dont think we have that desk in stock." "Thats OK, Ill go back and check anyway." "...No, really, I dont think we have it in stock." I keep quiet but Im thinking..JUST LET HIM LOOK!! "...oh alright, let go back there and check with you." After some mumbling in the back they both show up. "...no we dont have it just like I said." Now what? "So what should I do..?" "...well, you could order it on-line and have it shipped to the store but that will cost you $50 more." "Fifty dollars more! Why? Other stores have things shipped to their stores for free. No shipping charge." "...well, were NOT other stores. Thats all I can tell you. You can speak to our manager if you want." I went to the front and asked for the manager. A lady, Lara, with her back to the store, cutting bits of paper with scissors, turned around and walked up to me at the counter. "...Who told you to come talk to me?" Seriously, that was the first thing out of her mouth. "I..umm.... some dude.. about this high, short hair.." "...was he heavy set? .. White guy? ...has some tats..." "What is this? A homicide investigation. Hes one of YOUR employees. How many people you have here anyway?" She started talking into radio thingy. "Who ever was helping this guy in the furniture area needs to come up here and help him...no..no...Im busy. You help him." So here comes the "..no we dont have it in stock.." furniture dude again. Crap. He flips a computer screen around and tells me to fill in the customer order information. I pull out my reading glasses and fill in all the information. "...ok, you see, when I hit the enter key, its going to tell me we cant order the desk because the system thinks we have a desk in stock....but we dont." "What does that mean?..." "...well, basically, Im not going to be able to order the desk because the system thinks we have the desk..but we dont..so...we cant order the desk." At this point, Im getting VERY frustrated. "Look! I dont work here, I dont know how any of this has to do with me. That manager over there cutting paper should be over here talking to me! Im NOT an employee here, I dont work here, Im just a customer who WANTS TO BUY A DESK!!" Here comes Lara the manager again. She looks bugged, never addresses me, talks to me, or even looks at me. I tell her, "If you dont have the desk, AND you cant order the desk, then tell me which store HAS THE DESK AND ILL GO PICK IT UP!" Lara tells the clerk to start dialing other stores and then goes back to her paper cutting. What a looser. The clerk called another store. They were out too. Before he could dial another store I left. As I got to the door another store clerk stopped me. He was an Asian dude caring a stack of printouts. Probably the store replenishment guy. He said, "..this computer system is all messed up. We cant order anything. In fact, just a few minutes ago, I had to tell another customer to go home and order the item he wants from home. Thats how bad our system is..." Wow. Enough said. Not only does this store suck but the entire company is circling the drain.

People on here complaining about the print center bring rude should complain to the managers and owners of office max. The print center brings in the most revenue but has the least number of employees working. It is very high stress and pays horrible. There is almost never a time when more than one person is scheduled to work there. They woukd be lucky to get even a fifteen minute break after six hours standing the entire time. So those of you who are complaining I would like you to consider this...three out of almost every five customers who walk into the store want something printed. So the print center is the backup for cashiers, takes care of outgoing mail, prints incoming email orders coming in consistently, online orders coming in consistently, walk-in prints, helps with self service copiers and online orders for store merchandise. Print orders can include basic few simple copies to two to five thousand copies, flyers, posters, booklets, laminations, printing and binding a few or many books, invitations, birthdays, anniversaries, baby showers, graduation, back to school, etc. And many takes time to get it orintef and/or cut to perfection. Now imagine ONE person doing all of this. And to the petson complaining about Wanita. Wanita is one of the most helpful in printing. She has a full time professional job and has a high level of professionalism and customer service skills. Management absolutely knows what the issues are in printing and as you can see by the comments on all office depot and max reviews, nothing has changed in years and most likely wont. My point of this super long but informative post? Stop whining, complaining and being impatient and rude to the employees who are simply doing their job under constant stressful situations. Have some empathy or shop elsewhere. Obviously the owners do not care about their employees or customers.

Ive noticed every time I go into this Office Depot, 290 in Cypress, the service is terrible. Out of all the people that work there only 2 are helpful (floor people not people running the front). The women they have working in the front as cashiers and in the print department are totally unprofessional, rude, uneducated, and have no idea what customer service is. This is sad, because about 15 years ago I worked at Office Depot as a Telemarketing Manager and Cash Office Manager. Our customer service was amazing. We actually cared about the customers. These people in this store just want a paycheck and dont care about not knowing anything. They dont want to better themselves by learning. The print department use to be known as the Business Center.....now they got cashiers with no training working it. I had to help the print department lady do her job. I needed a image that was 36 x 48 inches printed. Very easy, well it took 2 people and neither one of then got it right. They printed it 48 x 24 and said "Well, we printed whats on our screen". Really??? My image showed 36 x 48, I had to tell the lady that part of my image was being cut off because she didnt have the right size paper on the printer. So she checks and WOW, light bulb, the paper size was 24. The cashier working after they finally got my print right after the 3 print, was rude and when I asked nicely for a piece of tap for my huge print (that was not rolled up, not in a protected case) she gave me a look and said " Jesus Christ"...... WOW. I will find out who the overall manager is of this place. It is the most unprofessional business and the ladies in the front are rude and dont care. DONE WITH OFFICE DEPOT. ALL OFFICE DEPOT. So even if there is a professional OD, you will suffer because of the 290/Cypress TX store. Wayyred
