Toys are fun. But toys in the big box stores, not so much. Thankfully, Terra Toys is not your typical toy store. In fact, its the kind of toy store that encourages you to play with stuff, in the store, no questions asked, even if you arent going to take a toy home (i.e. purchase). Better still, they make good on the whole kid in a candy store thing by occasionally walking around and handing out free candy samples. Its that kind of fun, kid in a candy store type fun, with actual candy. Its also a great place to find birthday and holiday gifts (for ALL ages - huge plus +), a great place to find toys that are both entertaining AND educational (think really cool and easy-to-assemble DIY science projects), and a great place to feel like a kid again (because lets face it... if were online reading and writing reviews about toy stores, we probably passed kid-age awhile ago!) Also, the first time I bought a toy at Terra Toys (sock puppet, honestly), the salesperson placed it in a little crayon-decorated paper bag, yup, you guessed it, made by a kid... thats Terra Toys. Kid-tested, kid-at-heart-approved.

Terra Toys is the best toy shop in Austin! I had always been a strong proponent of Toy Joy, but Ive come to like Terra Toys better as an adult (which isnt a knock on Toy Joy at all; both establishments are tremendous). Terra Toys is large and spacious with an incredible variety of toys for humans of any age. I regularly buy gag gifts for my friends there, and toys for my younger relatives. Plus, the staff is always friendly and helpful. Its a great balance between "Keep Austin Weird" and "we are a business establishment."

Awesome toy store with a great selection of new and old toys I played with when I was a child. Antiques, childrens cloths. Great puzzle selection. Some stuff is to pricey for my budget but some affordable like some of the great puzzles for just 10.00. Beautiful collection of marble also a bargain. They have a drink section where we got some flavored ice coffee which was very nice. Try your fortune on Zoltar just like the one in the movie Big with Tom Hanks!

one of the BEST place in the world for a RANDOM white elephant gift... or to take an adventurous girl on a date... after you eat at Hopdoddys right across the complex. (parking is a piece of cake) from the creepy minatures display... to lizard goggles & unicorn hats...miniature teensy weensy pencils, you can definitely find something to entertain yourself with. people are nice & the place is organized! prices are reasonable & the options are endless.

Fun, local and eclectic toy store. We love going in with the kids to look at the variety of cool toys here. This is NOT Toys R Us, it is so much better. While there are some trendy things here, most is not and what you would consider "cool", "old school", "fun". There are a good sized selection of eco friendly toys here also. Worth popping in to roam for hours or to grab something for any age - including adults!.

This place has all of the best durable toys, learning based toys, and all of the stuff you cant find at a Toys R Us. As an adult with no kids I love this place and find cool stuff for gifts for friends my age as well as my Friends kids. Go here if you want to get a kid that toy they will keep the rest of their life and pass down to their kids, not just something that gets old after a couple of years.

If you are looking for a place to buy toys for a child from toddler to early teen, you could do no better than Terra Toys. This place has a very good quality assortment of thoughtful toys of many many types, including: books, playsets, stuffed animals, kites, puzzles, science kits, magic sets, musical instruments, and more. One of the very best toy stores for children I have ever encountered.

A toy store worthy of the uniqueness of Austin! Expect to find unique items here, such as collectibles and international imports. The store is quite big so expect to spend some time shopping here. Theyve even added a mini cafe on the side in case you need to rest and have some refreshments. If youre looking for a gift, youre bound to find something here. Its like a treasure hunt!

This is a great store and you will not find junk here so the toys and clothing and books are not cheap but then the quality of most of the toys is very good. They have many German made toys that are excellent. for children and are still in one piece after many hours of play. Also the staff seems to enjoy themselves and so they are helpful and fun. Try it.

I love Terra Toys. They are a little expensive, but it is so much fun to just go in and look. Its the only toy store Ive been to in Austin that I dont want to leave. My son loves to play with the train, toy kitchen and the assorted instruments. The books, science experiments, art projects and old fashioned candies are my favorite!

Such a great store, and has only gotten better over the past ten years. A curated selection of high quality toys and novelties, this place is great for kids of all ages. They added a coffee shop and expanded quite a bit, so it doesnt feel as cramped. Always find something fun and unique and the staff is helpful and friendly.

So I havent been for awhile but visited just for fun a few weeks ago... they have expanded ... dont know when ... but it is bigger with more stuff. Its absolutely a joy to shop. If I were only a kid again... there is just so much stuff... if you are shopping for your child (adult child) or otherwise you must go here.

An amazing place, period. Its the perfect-sized store with a friendly staff that doesnt play it too silly, theyll help you when you need it! The prices range from a few dollars to hundreds for collectible (new) toys. Its an amazing place to go even just to walk around in. This place is a pocket of heaven.

Staff members are always happy to help. They will wrap your gift for no extra charge. I enjoy going without my child because it gives me the chance to see everything. If you dont take your time, you can miss some neat stuff. They offer events to the public, it is good to check their calendar.

The prices are high but I do love the layout of the store. If your kid is into trains, there is a whole section where youll find toys, books and other things related to trains. A lot of retro toys and high end toys you cant find at a big box store. Wish I could afford to shop here.

Best toy store in town. Toys for all ages. They even have a coffee shop and art gallery!!!! The staff is beyond awesome and the coffee aint so bad either. They have great seasonal toys and a cute kids clothes. Showcasing local artists is a plus!!!

Nice toy store that offers niche toys. Puppet selection is good. They used to carry Thomas toys but stopped for some reason. Call before you go if you are looking for mainstream toys because they dont carry a lot.
