This place was a great find while looking for cigar shops in Austin. While small, it actually has its biggest advantage in its price points. The public lounge is tiny, but serviceable (4 cushiony leather chairs face each other w a lrg window looking into the humidor). The staff is extremely knowledgeable, polite and dont act like its more than it is. While the majority of the customers spend less than 10 minutes on average (repeat customers know what they want, come in, say hi, grab their usual and are out the door w a wave and quiet smile). The difference here is while small, it benefits the customers by their desire to move product w a small humidor (while it sounds like a pipe tobacco shop, its 60/40 cigar-I could be wrong on that). But, the extreme benefit is the mark downed items, 20% if they dont move for various reasons, so $9 smokes become $7, $7 smokes become $5, & you get the jist. But, hears the kicker, an annual $10 membership allows you 10% on all purchases (even the 20% sale stuff, for a whopping 30% off, if you’re a member who sees something on sale). Amazingly, I saw some macanudos & davidoffs marked 30% off today, so w membership theyd be 40% off the original price (7/2017). This is a well kept secret amongst seasoned Austin pipe & cigar smokers, but more than enough for me to move it to the top shop on my list. Why? Value. You get great value for your money, and service. So, drawbacks are the limited hours (M-S at 9-7, Sun 10-5 you cant stay there til midnight w your biker gang), a smaller, but excellent selection of pipe tobacco & cigars (there were popular cigars that werent duds, that were closed out and priced to move (so, if your lucky you can get a great $9 smoke for $6, but you need to keep an eye for the red sale signs through regular visits), and a small public lounge. Also, no shipping products to customers-which would be a great addition. But, what you get in return edges out the local Austin competition due to free WiFi, a serviceable public lounge, other manly arts items like; flasks, knives, DE razors, torches, pipe tools, etc, above average selection of pipes tobacco & cigars and the lowest prices in Austin and sales, sales, sales. So, visit one of Pipe Worlds two locations and embrace what it has to offer. Youll be very pleased. BTW: My buddy smokes R&J 1875s and I saw some today on sale for 20% off of the $7.70 price, but with my additional 10% membership I could grab one for my him @ $5.16. Now thats VALUE! P.S. Returned in mid August and picked up two (2) 1875 gordos for $5.36 apiece for my buddy. Appreciated the saving on a popular stick especially for a friend made it even btr. I used the saving on a budget stick for me. Win-win! There were more markdowns and new merchandise to boot.

Googled "Pipe Tobacco" because I wanted to try smoking something other than the occasional cigar. This came up a couple hits down from the top. Looked at the other reviews posted at the time and was weary due to most being from "A Google User." Decided to at least go check it out and I wasnt disappointed. I walked in and said I was interested in giving pipe smoking a try and the two guys were full of information. I didnt feel pressured to buy some high end stuff and ended up going with some low entrance cost stuff and couldnt be happier. They explained the difference between the many types of tobacco for pipes and also explained pretty in depth on how to differentiate between them. They have a minimum weight for loose tobacco (2 oz. the blend I ended up choosing was only $10 for the 2 oz.) Any questions I had they answered and expanded in an effort to fully educate. The only thing they didnt do was to show me how to pack a pipe or clean it but they did give me a small pamphlet explaining how to properly do both. Took a brief look at the cigar selection and wasnt disappointed either. Much like the tobacco selection it covers almost all of the spectrum. They will definitely be getting my business again. Highly recommend to newcomers who want to try smoking, or veterans who need to replenish stock.

I am a novice pipe smoker and after a bad experience trying to buy from B&R I almost threw in the towel. I called Pipe World and had a great experience. Over the phone they were polite, friendly, and helpful and the guys at the store were a great. The thing that impressed me most was their integrity. I told them I really didnt have a clue since I was just starting out, and rather than try to take advantage and sell me things I didnt need (or the most expensive) they suggested I start with something good (but inexpensive) and make sure I liked it before spending more. They will definitely get my business and my recommendations in the future.

Two or three years ago I wandered into Pipe World knowing nothing about pipes or tobacco. The gentleman there was so very patient and helpful, fully engaging in the experience and helping me to select a tobacco to try ("Creme Brulee" which remains my favorite to this day) and helping me to select my first pipe. It was such a pleasant surprise to encounter this lost level of engagement and customer attention. I recommend that you give the place a try and try out their smoking lounge. Its a pretty special place.

Great selection of fine cigars, and they were also very kind and helpful when helping me get started with pipe smoking (which they have a plethora of different corncob, briar, and meerschaum pipes, as well as many brand AND great house blends for). Helpful and very friendly staff, and they have a nice little lounge area, although I havent ever had enough time during a visit to relax in one of those comfy-looking couches. Overall a great place for the cigar or pipe smoker.

This is a great shop. Ive never smoked a pipe before. I figured "hey, lets stop at this place and check it out." I couldnt have been happier. They have an excellent selection and the guys at the shop were more than happy to help me. They explained everything from start to finish and helped me select my first pipe and tobacco for it. They got me everything I would need and gave me a little starter guide too. I cant recommend these guys enough.

These guys are top notch. Im relatively new to the pipe world and had a ton of questions. Ben was very patient in showing me numerous pipes from their extensive stock and Cail answered every question I had about pipe smoking. The selection of pipes and tobacco are on point and the prices are incredibly reasonable. I will not go anywhere else in Austin! Keep up the good work, guys!
