Great little place that rolls their own cigars to hang out at on 6th street. Cigars were nice, staff was friendly, and light atmosphere here made for a wonderful little stop on our trip to Austin. To honestly rate them I think Id have to spend more time there, but I do have one suggestion. I Suggest they carry more than their own brand and if someone comes in to buy 4 Romeo & Juliet, give them one of your own brand that would compliment the cigars they came Im fir to build your brand. Im not sure they can survive as a retail store only selling their own brands and while I really admire it, it might not have the volume to sustain itself without the draw of more choices. Who cares if you add an extra buck on outside brands above normal prices since they are in a tourist environment and give them easy ways to order online when they return back home with fond memories and cigars from your shop.

I dont live in Austin (I live in Cali), but I go there regularly for work. And every time Im there, I always make a stop by Bobalus for some cigars to bring home. Why? - The cigars are fresh rolled there in the store. Sometimes I get to watch and choose the ones that were just rolled. - The cigars are tasty and there is a wide variety of sizes and flavors. - The service is great. Walk into the large humidor and someone will always come by to answer any questions without being pushy. Very relaxed atmosphere. - Oh yeah, and the prices are great. Dont know what you want? They have variety boxes at a great price (normally what I get). Why go pay way more for an imported cigar from a place where it may have been sitting there for a long time? You can get a warm, fuzzy feeling knowing that you are helping out a local small business. Go check em out, you wont be disappointed!!!

So I found this place online while talking to a friend in Charleston, I was giving her my order for some hand-rollwd sticks from Liannas. They actually hand-roll, check them out if you get to Charleston SC or call them, they will ship. Back to Bobalus, they advertise as a hand-rolled shop, so I decided to visit them the same day. What a huge disappointment, the sticks are not just in one layer of plastic but two! When I asked about this the response was that this was to save space...! Then they said that they were hand-rolled off-site, then packes in plastic bundles... right! The price was not bad, the "aged" sticks were mediocre at best, I normally go with the double toro maduro or Gordo, these were very weak. Save your gas and order from a real hand rolled shop, these guys appear to be selling a mass produced stick as something other than! Dont bother!

I hired Bobalu Cigar Company to hand roll cigars for my wedding. They are really a great value and can send your wedding guests experience at the event WAY over the top! No one could believe that we had a hand-rolled cigar station, but we did, and it was awesome! They pre-rolled about 40 cigars because they can only do about 10/hour or so, and it worked out well for those people who maybe didnt want to smoke theirs right away. All my guests kept saying was that it was really one of the coolest things any of them had seen at a wedding! They are sometimes hard to get a hold of on the phone and by email, but dont let that deter you...they are so awesome! They even helped me design a special logo and printed it on the cigar wraps and labels, and gifted us two cigar boxes at the end of the evening. A+ work Bobalu!

First of all, just the place on 6th Street in Austin is so eclectic! Ive stopped in everytime I visit Austin. Then on a whim I joined Bobalus website and ordered some cigars. Now, I dont order from anywhere else. I consider myself a sophisticated (older) cigar smoker and enjoy everything from Oliva V, Rocky Patels, to Hemingway Classics, but Jeffs 15th Anniversary Bullet smokes them all (pun intended). The T-Shirt is pretty nice too. I couldnt find a fresher, better crafted, more enjoyable stick out there if I tried! I have run into Jeff many times throughout South Texas and always pause to say hello and chat for a bit. Although he probably doesnt recognize me from any of the other hundreds of other satisfied customers (fans), he always has time for me. Jeff....see you in Galveston in November!

If you are the kind of person who needs to pay a lot of money for an inferior product because you want everyone to see the BRAND name, then Bobalu is not for you. You should shop another store if you just want the best "marketed" cigar. However, if you actually want a great quality cigar from a super helpful shop, BOBALU is just the place! I have not purchased a cigar from anywhere else in over 2 years, after finding Bobalu. Also, if you want a great custom gift, you must check out their boxes with custom labels. Ive done this a couple of times and the recipients have been blown away! The final product is legit and does NOT come off looking like you had it made at a gift shop (life others Ive seen). Too bad Google only gives 3 stars...it just doesnt do Bobalu justice!

I was in Austin celebrating my birthday. My sister searched Cigar lounges before we went because she and I are cigar smokers. Our first stop was Bobalu. The young man behind the counter greeted us but when we went into the humidor no one came to assist us. As we were coming out to purchase some cigars the young lady that was behind the counter was coming in with a male customer and I heard her tell him thats what she was there for, to assist him but no one came in to assist us. We were in a shop that sells boutique cigars so some assistance should have been given to help us make the right choice. We were so insulted that we put the cigars we were about to purchase back and left. Good customer service should be extended to everyone no matter who they are.

After receiving and smoking the cigars from a Bobalu "sampler" gift from a granson who is enrolled at U.T. - Austin, I visited the Bobalu web site to more closely examine their cigar products. I ended-up ordering a box of their Texas Select Limited Reserve cigars. The cigars taste great and draw easily. Excellent product! The packaging in a glass top humidor was both attractive and functional. Delivery was made very promptly after my online order. Emails from Bobalu to follow-up and prompt further sales show Jeff is doing an effective job in building his business. Good quality products, excellent service and working to build long term customers are certainly the keys to any successful business -- Bobalu is certainly following this strategy.

So Im a Yankee from NY, down in Austin for the first time in early June. Our flight was leaving in the early evening and it was a weekday; 6th St was deserted and we got to wandering. Stumbled across this cigar shop by accident, and let me tell you it was a beautiful accident. Picked up a few sticks for the sake of "what the hell, they roll them here!" and was more than impressed. Their Honduran XXXL Triple Lijero is awesome; its my favorite of the half dozen (or so) Bobalu sticks that Ive tried. Finish is leathery which is what Im all about. Ive ordered a sampler pack off their website and plan to order more. Their Buyers Club seems like an incredible deal, Ill probably buy-in soon.
