My first visit here was not pleasant at all. When I walked in, I wasnt greeted. I even walked around a bit trying to figure out what I needed/wanted for about 20 minutes and no one in the store acknowledged me. I understand each rep was with a customer, but they could have at least acknowledged me or tell me theyll be with me when theyre done. Anyways, I walked out of the store frustrated. I went online and researched a couple riding jackets. My issue is that I needed a small size but since I am tall, I need them to have longer measurements in the body length and arms. I finally found one that ladies were reviewing it was too long for the average female rider. I went back to this store and told them exactly what I wanted and showed them a picture of it on their site from my phone. This apparently made it easier. The cashier right away was able to pull it up and told me they can order it and it will be in within 3-5 days. If it doesnt fit, I can return it. He then told me that small probably wont fit me because I am too tall and generally small is for girls that are 53. I decided to still go with a small despite his advice. After I left the store, I got a call about 30 minutes later that the small was out of stock. He recommended me to go to a medium instead of a x-small. I asked him for the arm length measurements. So again, despite his advice, I firmly asked for him to order the x-small for me. Finally the jacket came in just after 3 days. The suspense was killing me. Did I make the wrong choice? should I have gotten the medium? Am I going to be busting out of the itty bitty xsmall jacket? I put one arm in the jacket and I immediately smiled. Then the other arm. It was a perfect fit. The cashier was so amazed. He then said he didnt think at all it would have fit me for my height and now he knows this specific brand runs longer in size compared to most others. After this experience, Im sure you are still wondering why I gave it 3 stars. The cashier was very friendly and professional. He was just giving me advice based off of what he knew. He also gave me lots of advice since I was a newbie rider. I would come back to this location but only if I had an idea of what it is I am wanting.

Cycle Gear has a good variety of good quality products and reasonable prices for a brick-and-mortar store (obviously you can get better deals online), I have been a loyal customer for several years. But recently they have gone downhill big time in the customer service arena. The last 3 visits I had gone in knowing exactly what I wanted, grabbing the item, and then frustratingly waiting for 15 minutes or more to check out. They seem to have only one checkout computer which they also use for looking up parts and a part look up apparently is a process which takes a huge amount of time. This last visit earlier today I simply wanted some fog-spray for my face plate. I walked in grabbed the $6.95 item and proceeded to wait for 10 minutes as one of the staff bumbled around on the computer trying to look up parts for a customer. Several times he asked another staff member for help, who would halfheartedly offer one piece of advice then shuffle away doing menial chores like adjusting the way jackets were hanging on racks. I suppose he isnt trained to properly do his job? The entire time I am patiently waiting in line to make my purchase every staff member tried their hardest to avoid eye contact and pretend that I was not present. Is my purchase just too small for them to be bothered? Finally I grew so frustrated that I just grabbed $8 in cash from my wallet and left it on the counter announcing to the staff that this will cover the item and tax and left. They were polite and apologetic on my way out, but the damage is done. Im finding a new motorcycle gear store to shop at. This is a big shame since Cycle Gear is just down the road from me, but Im tired of my time being wasted. I sincerely hope they improve as a year ago my experience was the exact opposite (helpful, energetic, attentive staff)

Called to ask about a tire change and spoke with a girl who was very nice and very helpful. Went in to the store a couple of days, and was treated like the red-headed stepchild by three guys who were too busy having a fun conversation to acknowledge me standing at the front desk holding a wheel in one hand and a tire in the other as I looked at them waiting to be helped. James walked to the other side of the front desk and started grabbing some papers and completely ignored me. Didnt ask or say anything, not even a glance. I finally had to speak up and tell him I needed my tire changed and he reluctantly and obviously irritated began filling out the paperwork. Halfway I through I got fed up and told him he was a prick and left. Im never going back and Im telling everyone in my riding groups and riding friends about my experience. Hopefully they begin to hire people that dont treat the customer like a 3rd class citizen. Watch out for Michael, and especially JAMES!! Youve been warned.

Ive been to the store 5 or 6 times now. The staff is normally very helpful and knowledgeable. Last two visits I was helped by Crystal. She could not be better. Helpful and persistent with great attitude. At one point she said after helping a different customer with a rushed special order " I love doing the impossible for customers"! I have been happy with the quality and product selection every purchase. I have had trouble with a few things but it has always been resolved. Only once that I had difficulty with a warranty issue however that also has been resolved easily. I also like that I can find other Cycle Gear stores around the country when I am touring. I also know that they can rush ship to almost anywhere. I recommend this and this company. Additional note. One of the best retail managers any type of store that I have met is Cycle Gear manager Jake in Pacheco California.

I have been to Cyclegears in Dallas and Austin and have always had a positive experience. This review is specifically for the Austin location off Research Blvd. James helped me exchange a summer riding jacket when the zipper mechanism failed. I had taken the jacket to get serviced at a local Boot/zipper repair shop which happened to be next to cyclegear. I decided to stop in and see their sales when I came across the same jacket and asked about the 5yr guaranty stated on the tag. James said that I could bring the jacket in for a swap (which I swiftly picked back up from the repair shop before being charged). Cyclegear clearly looks after the rider and their safety. They want you to ride safely without worries. They seem to accommodate each rider within their budget and offer many quality products. Thank you for running your business for the average rider!

Im trying to save money like everyone else, so I called the dealer knowing that they were going to want 2x what I could get a voltage regulator for on the internet, but I gave them a chance. Then after calling a few other places that wouldnt even take the time to look and see if they could order a voltage regulator for a Ducati I called cycle gear. The sales guy was nice, told me he wasnt sure, but hed look. Sure enough he could order the part for me, and it cost about the same as what I found it for online. I went in and paid for it and a couple days later it came in and I picked it up. To my surprise it was a nice American made voltage regulator and the instructions were great! This is just one of a few times Ive dealt with Cycle Gear, and these guys continue to be a great local place to get parts and accessories.
