ShoeMetro is not a great place to work. If I could have given no star I would have. Please find another employment that values work ethics, treats workers with civility and where the morale is high. A person will truly be disappointed with how the company is conducted and eventually will stop caring. Even though the company is relatively small, the administration is awful. The management team all have big egos that only look out for themselves. Likewise, management is some of the most unethical I have ever seen especially from Leads and Supervisors. The most absurd thing is they seem to only want to create dispensable upper positions with higher salaries that only benefit them. The company has a high employee turnover rate attributed to hiring some incompetent people, poorly manage, and no incentives to hard workers when obligated (not committed to what is promised). The Human Resources department is also useless and not resourceful at all. For a start, they are not friendly and do not care for the employees. At this job, some of the leads are inexperienced (got the position because of nepotism) or are basically amateurs running the departments. Theres a lot of favoritism in the workplace, and the more flatterer a person is or have robotic personality the further one will advance within the company. Furthermore, there was a constant, constant changes made before people could get a chance to become comfortable with the current format, just day by day excessive changes that makes the management look indecisive and unprofessional, neither do they care about their employees suggestions or satisfaction since sadly they are expendable to them anyways. There are some pros about working at ShoeMetro: the good discounts on products (beware they buy used shoes then resale them), meeting "some" nice people, and fixed schedule. In contrast, the company is so unorganized and there is lack of communication throughout the entire warehouse from the top to the bottom, but mostly between the leads and supervisor, which just becomes exasperating. On the daily basis there are a need to over-achieve of quota regardless of high errors to meet required productivity. If quota is meet, then the leads decide to raise the quota the following weeks as a "challenge". Also, they do not properly train employees to do their jobs adequately, instead of making suggestions on how to improve performance, the leads either fire people or use that against them when its time to tier up (get cross trained in other departments, and receive a pay increase). ShoeMetro is a joke, I wont be surprise if the company goes bankrupt or forced to downsize soon due to bad customer services, etc. Honestly the San Diego branch just close recently, so it fated to end badly at any rate. Its freezing cold in the winter time, and in the summer its extremely hot. To be frank, even though this is not a third world countries, workers at ShoeMetro encounter the same kinds of sweatshop-like condition with unrealistic quotas, provided with uncomfortable seats, and the usage of unsafe conveyor belts. In addition, the company has some ridiculous policies and gives two 10-minute breaks, which is too short because theres 40-200 people trying to get out in one door and a 30 minute lunch break where the cafeteria is small to suit large group. Although I have so much more to mention, I think I have conveyed enough reasons to why ShoeMetro has horrible company environment, so I will leave it at that. The company needs to make some serious corrections and devise an effective strategy on a professional setting, asap. ShoeMetro is way worse than the typical dead end warehouse. Save yourself.
