Theres no question this mall, like most of its type, has struggled over the past several years. It has maintained its anchor stores though - a nice Dillards, OK Macys, a badly outdated Sears, and a JC Penny store that went through the huge reset a couple years ago and is still pretty nice. There are other nationally known stores like Victorias Secret, The Buckle, Abercrombie, and several others. However, it is also occupied by a large number of "who knows what" type of stores and just plain empty ones. The property itself is definitely showing its age and the food court, well, not much reason to go there. I dont think this is the type of place youd go hang out at all day anymore. Still, if you want to experience a suburban mall and physically touch and try on garments, this mall isnt bad. The Dillards especially, can have some tremendous bargains during clearance time, although selection is much better at Green Hills or Cool Springs Dillards locations. A new Guitar Center store is set to open in early 2017 and hopefully that should provide a boost. If you can only go to one mall in the vicinity, definitely choose Opry Mills. If you are going by on I65 or live in the area, Rivergate can suffice and the surrounding area offers lots of other nice retail and food options besides whats in the mall. If I was ranking it on the mall property only, it might earn a weak 2, but considering the anchor stores and surrounding area, its a 3.

I basically grew up at this mall, I remember when my mother would take me and my brother to play in the old play area. I honestly prefer this mall over all other malls, sure it does not have any special restaurants or Apple stores, but it has the best coffee shop, pyramids, and still smells of my youth. I remember the comic bookstore, sports store, and pet store that used to inhabit the area where that stupid furniture store is. I have such good memories within this mall, I wish people could see it for the gem it is. It is sad that petros is gone, they had the best orange tea. The food court has the nicest people, when I was a teen was of the Chinese food places gave me and my friends free food because we were short on cash, and the people at pyramids have always been super friendly.

Mac was giving out free lipstick and we sat there for an hou waiting for them to open the mall. There are 2 entrances to Macys. They came out right at 10 to let us know that the Mac line was on the other door. There were at least 70 people behind us and made us get on the back on the other line on the other entrance. Needless to say Mac only gave out 100 lipsticks and none of us who got there an hour early got anything. They could have at least put a sign letting people know where the line for Mac was if they were only going to use one entrance!! So disappointed! Waste 2 hrs because of their incompetence and disorganization.

Rivergate Mall is an old mall. You can tell theyre trying to renovate by adding new floors and cleaning up the stores a bit, but right now its pretty dark and gloomy. They have some pretty good stores, like Macys and Dillards. Theyve also got a (ridiculously small) food court. The selection of restaurants isnt bad, just that its a bit uncomfortable. This mall is in desperate need for a renovation, but if they can light up the place and get a few stores to move in, this could definitely be a mall worth visiting.

I came here with a group of friends one day and one of my friends bought a shirt with a pot reference at one of the stores and decided to put it on then one of the officers who were there said its against mall policy to wear that shirt and he had had to leave or change his shirt, which is the stupidest thing I ever heard. also the store are mainly not name brand and lacking quality products . this mall is nothing like it used to be and kind of sketchy.

Old and ran down ish.15-20 years ago this mall was thriving. Now not so much because other big attraction malls didnt exist nearby. There used to be exclusive stores here but the bigger malls have brought those stores there. Now that its happened theres really not a reason to go. The area isnt as reassuring like it was back then either. Now its a whole different story. Alot of the stores employees arent really enthusiastic either.

Ive never set foot into this mall without being greeted by a horde of strange and interesting people. The stores and common areas are moderately clean. All the staff I have met are very nice and helpful. This is a semi-dying mall, so, there are a ton of mom and pop stores, which is very cool. As long as their big anchor stores, IE sears, macys, jc penny stay, I think the rent with stay reasonable and this pocket of weird will last.

At this time of year there is plenty of parking near the store you wish to visit. Great prices at both Sears and JC Pennys as they are going out of the retail business soon and transferring more online selling. Hate losing these stores, but Ive always found better deals online and usually free shipping. A variety of stores to choose from plus food court and at least 2 sit down restaurants.

Found helpful and friendly salespeople everywhere! Prices were great and store selection was good. Love having Macys there as I can order online and then return it to the store if there is anything wrong--and traffic is much better than Green Hills! I also did not have to drive around in the rain from store to store while shopping like I have to do in Hendersonville.

Two stars for nostalgia. Theres just no reason to go inside anymore. 30-50% is empty storefronts at any given time. The theater across the street closed down. The food court is filled with knockoffs of better places. I miss the vibrant atmosphere this mall used to have. But, as the economy keeps moving away from mini-malls, this will only get worse.

This mall still has a few major stores but most are understaffed. Its barely hanging on. The other stores are extreme knock off stores that sell clothes and goods similar to what you would see at a flea market. Even the food court has lost most of it major chains. On the up side many of the stores and restaurants are locally owned and operated

They have a great selection of stores and the mall is laid out very efficiently. The food court feels a bit lacking, but there are still many viable options there for a meal. The play area for the children is a nice bonus as it allows my daughter to burn off some steam while I have a chance to rest and watch her play.

Good place to walk around... thats about it. A lot of empty stores. Just a dying mall. We buy some things there every now and again, but thats only because we are already there just to walk. I would never just GO there to buy something. Nothing other than a lot of real estate to walk around indoors brings us here.
