The WORST experience we have ever had from a company that has such a "trusted name".. The internet department called and called and called and when we finally gave our information, we were told we had an approval and they wanted us to come pick out anything we wanted. Of course the approval was before trade in, but we still know how the car business works. We live over 2 hours away so we did our part and sent all of our information, including our income, and set 3 different appointments. There were two times that we called to confirm out appointments and the ladies who answered the calls said they were shorts staffed and that it wouldnt be wise to come down.. so we finally have our end ready to come down today (again, over 2 hours) because of everything weve takes care of over the phone and through fax, they told us all we would need is an appraisal. Now they talked us up and apparently over exaggerated, because when we got there we had to wait on hold over the phone just to get information about a car and the lady was so rude and told us that she couldnt pull up our information and that she wasnt going to try. Then when my husband got upset (rightfully so) all he did was ask why nothing was coming out like the countless conversations with salesmen and managers had implicated, they proceeded to tell us they didnt want our business and we didnt deserve their respect. My husband never said a cross word, never got an attitude, never did anything to deserve the way we were treated. I will go out of my way to discourage people from paying into this business as long as those are the standards they hold.

First time going to carmax to explore their version of car selling and buying. We waited 90mins before the next available person was available. Unresponsive to phone and online transfer request, five days before a phone call to confirm transfer request. If using the "no-haggle" business model and charging a premium, the service should be more responsive for customers bringing money to the table. Continue reading for additional supporting info. Expectedly, they offered an insultingly low trade offer. We persevered hoping the buying experience would result in a net positive experience overall. We tried to "hold" a vehicle and transfer a vehicle, both by calling and using their online channel. We sat on hold for more than a few minutes that was followed by an uninformed contact that couldnt answer our questions. Hoping the online channel would be more effective, the auto reply was.."if this request is made within normal business hours, you will be contacted within one hour to confirm your request." It was 5 business days since that request was made before being contacted to discuss the transfer.

I wish I could give it them no stars. I always hate going to dealerships. This was no different. The guy, Nate, from the start just really rubbed me wrong. He bragged on their 120 point inspection and made the comment to me that when they appraised my car if I didnt like the price then I could take it somewhere else! I thought he was a little bit rude. I work hard to pay for my car and to have someone offer me 6,000.00 for a car that Kelley Blue Book rates as FAIR for 10,645.00. One of the salesman told me that they rated my car as an A! What an insult. I dont expect to get Blue Book trade value but, come on! My car does have high miles, but that doesnt mean that I should give it away! The car I drove didnt meet their 120 point inspection. The air conditioner didnt work and the car seats never cooled. I say stick to the dealerships. At least when the deal is done you walk away not feeling like you wanna scream!

BEST experience I have EVER had purchasing a vehicle (& I am on my 10th vehicle)!!! Bought a GORGEOUS Lexus with 11,000 for $4000 UNDER NADA book value...they also gave me top-dollar for my trade! The entire transaction INCLUDING ALL financing paperwork took 1.5 hours MAX...that included test driving the vehicle and having my trade-in inspected and appraised! Quick, efficient, no-hassle transaction! I will be back!!!

If they didnt know something they wouldnt fake it like most dealers, the guy that worked with me was more than willing to say "lets find out, and google it" vs making up some information just to sell a car. I will be a returning customer. Great selection of vehicles AND super organized lot!

Dealt with so many dealerships over the years and its the same old scare tactics and bs...carmax is totally different. Pre qualified for the loan before I even set foot on the lot and the salesmen are not on commission so they all help you.Totally different car buying experience..and I like it alot.

If I buy another car this would be the place. no pressure at all. The salesman are paid by the hour... they dont give a crap if you buy a car or not... every dealer should be like this. Great experience. Bar None the best dealer Ive ever been to.

Told my daughter she was approved for a vehicle only to pull the rug out from under, she left very disappointed, Id say it cost them another 3 family customers due to this as 3 family members are also in the market for vehicles, bad business!

Cash in hand. Attempted to purchase a 30,000k car. They couldnt manage to get a car from a carmax 1.5 hours away for over 72 hours. Local dealership got me a brand new one, fully loaded for the same price as carmaxes used car.

Dealership did not send required title paperwork for out of state DMV registration for a vehicle purchased nearly a month ago. Not helpful to advise about what to do when the temporary tag expires. I wont be back.
