As I sit writing this letter I ponder the events that happened earlier in the day. The events that lead to the termination of my employment with Home Depot. It seems the whole ordeal was one emphasizing respect for people. As I look my actions were borderline disrespectful but by contrast to the lack of respect shown by Home Depot for its employees, it pales in comparison. The lack of respect that I speak of is simply this. The fact that I respected my job enough to at least make an attempt to show up for the store meeting despite the fact of the great personal inconvenience, stress, and flat out danger that it put me through, yet Home Depot didnt even have enough respect for me to even attempt to open up a line of discussion when it came to that fact. The meeting was mandatory, no compromise or attempt at one what so ever. The fact that a company that only listed me as a "temporary employee" in a part-time position demand that I make an appearance for this meeting, despite the fact that I have other jobs I am committed to, shows that the company has none of the "Respect" that it touts so greatly for its employees. If anything, this event shows that it is the same corporate propaganda spouted by every other corporation in the country. Empty, hollow, meaningless words. A "feel good" phrase for the mindless drone that it tramples upon. This event has shown me the true face behind the mask of Home Depot. After seeing that face, I am glad that todays events ended my employment with the company, because I do not wish to be associated with such a cold, heartless two-face company in my working career. I now regard my two months with Home Depot as a stain upon my employment history, and a lesson in how all the supposed high minded corporate ideals are nothing more than empty propaganda.

Terrible experience today at Home Depot Rock Hill, SC. Ran on a Saturday to pick up a gas fryer real quick since my wife already had fish marinated in waiting on me... Product on the shelf was wrong price, cashier sold me a propane tank for $29.95 assuring me three times that it came filled with gas... after standing around waiting for someone to find the key to give me the tank im told I was sold the cylinder without gas. I stand in line and wait for the cashier and he says oh Im sorry sir I didnt know, so I said will refund me the money on my card he says oh Im sorry you have to go to customer service to do that. So then I go stand in customer service which is for people deep and no one is there. When the woman finally got there there was no sense of urgency he and her mannerism whatsoever, keep in mind this is a Saturday in the place is packed. I look around and there are Home Depot employees walking around all over as if in a daze High-fiving each other and laughing but not helping the customers. 15 minutes waiting for somebody to find the key for the cylinders, another 10 minutes standing in line for the cashier to tell me to go to customer service where I wait another 15 minutes!!!! Yes my wife is still home with marinated fish waiting for me to return. So manager comes up and I explain the whole situation to him and of course I get "I apologize, will try to do better." Words are cheap, see you at Lowes.

I try to come here to save time, since its closer to me. But I always end up regretting it and leaving. The employees are either incompetent or ill trained, Im not sure what the issue is. I dont expect them to be experts but at least have a semblance of an idea of what you are doing for the area you work in. Today was the final straw for me and I will not be returning. I had about $100 worth of wood and needed it cut. The guy was so confused at the measurements. We had to show him what 7/8 was. When he cut the wood, he let it flop around and subsequently, none of the pieces were cut straight. We gave him the benefit of the doubt and let him try again, but it was even worse the second time, when we even marked the wood with a pen to show where to cut, as he still didnt comprehend the measurements and what needed done. After that we just said never mind. We put back the wood. He told us that he forgot to mention that they dont cut to precision. What? Do you cut to imprecision? Lets make sure this is under the size you need...which is what happened. We were nice about it all, but it is so frustrating. Just going to go to Lowes.

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!!! We placed a special order for standard laminate counters on March 8, 2017. They were supposed to be in within 2-3 weeks. Exactly 2 months after placing the order, they came in - wrong! Since May 9, 2017 we have been trying to place a re-order to get the correct sizes. No order has been placed as of June 23, 2017, no one knows whats going on, communication and customer service is the worst Ive ever experienced and our house has been under construction an additional 3 months due to Home Depots lack of organization and poor performance. I cannot emphasize enough how much I would deter anyone from visiting this store for anything. Ive witnessed it take them 4 employees to load a single pallet into a customers truck while breaking the pallet and pieces of the fencing that was purchased, they scratched our trailer loading our order of cabinets, they are as rude as can possibly be and take zero accountability. GO TO LOWES!!!!!!!

Please do not both ordering carpet from this location (or anything time sensitive), even when they promise 72 hour installation. Unable to get an installation date before payment but supposed to be within 72 hours on carpet type we ordered. After payment, was told next available date was nearly 4 weeks away. Immediately tried to cancel as the house needed to go on the market before then, but was attempted to charge a 10% "restocking fee" despite the fact they lied about the installation window. My wife has called 4 times in the last 48 hours and been told shed be called back by a store manager within an hour 3 times and first thing the next morning the other time. A manager has yet to call back. Unfortunately for this Home Depot store, and probably in general, they wont see a dollar out of the $15-20k Im going to spend on the outdoor area Im going to be building in the next 6 months at my new house down the road.

Strange policies… After I recently moved, I received a coupon for a 10% discount from Home Depot. I needed hardwood floor, roughly a $4,500 purchase. The floor salesperson was not at all interested in helping. Apparently she is not paid by commission. I was told that the coupon was capped to $200, only a fraction of the total rebate I expected. The more you buy, the least they want your business ??? I went to Lowes and they gave me the 10% discount (plus free delivery) on the entire purchase. Duh ! That said, Lowes isnt all that great either. Sometimes, there is no regular checkout line that is open and you have to self checkout, which is something I despise.

Customer service is acceptable when you can find someone. They are very friendly but, like I said, it is sometimes difficult to locate the employees. Variety of products is horrible, especially with tile and flooring. Prices are ridiculously high and things rarely go on sale, when they are clearance the prices are ridiculous still. Damaged or imperfect lumber is only marked down 70%, even with splitting, no matter the condition. Lowes has many more products in a wide range, has better sales, and clearance items are actually clearance. Employees are easier to find as well but both have room for improvement.
