Last year I bought a push reel lawnmower from Wood True Value for $80, but found it to be ineffective against the weeds in my yard. The next week I tried to return the mower for a refund or exchange, and the cashier referred me to the owner. The owner told me they did not do refunds on mowers. When I asked to see a written copy of his return policy (since it was not written on the receipt), he refused to produce one. The whole encounter devolved into a war of words, and before the end of it he had insulted both my appearance and my gender. I realized that if I had just gone to Home Depot or Lowes, they would have taken my return, no questions asked. And they never would have insulted me! So that is what I have done ever since -- I go to Lowes and Home Depot where I can be sure that I will get great customer service at both the point of sale and afterwards. (And those two stores are where I spent most of the $8000 tax credit I used to remodel my new house.)

Honestly the only reason I go here sometimes is because it is closer than Home Depot but I dont think I will anymore. The employees are friendly and helpful, but the owner/manager is a jerk. The employees clearly dont like him, and he was even unpleasant to me as a customer. Most hardware stores offer a military discount, so I simply asked the manager/owner if this store did as well. Instead of simply saying "no" or "sorry" he said "how bout this, Ill take 10% off and then you give it back to me" apparently he was a vet too and didnt think he owed me anything, I dont think Im owed anything I simply asked if they offered a discount. Small stores like this should survive on customer service and word of mouth, but with everyone so helpful at home depot and always friendly I see no reason to support an owner who doesnt care.

I have used them many times in the past and always had a great experience till today. I wonder if they have new owners or management. I reserved a truck a week ago. I got the paperwork and everything was fine. Then less than 24 hours before I am to pick up the truck a lady calls me to inform me they rented the truck to someone who wanted it for four days. She said She had found another truck but I would have to go get it. When I explained this was unacceptable because they were going to charge me for the extra miles I would have to pay for to go get it and return it, she got belligerent and informed me she had done all she can do and was hanging up on me. This person has no business dealing with the public and Woods should be ashamed to have her representing them.

Excellent small hardware store. The staff is always very courteous and helpful in finding what you are looking for. Sure the selection is not that of a big box store, but it is nice to be able to pull up, park at the door, and grab what you need. Prices seem fair enough to get the job done.
