Did I just have a bad experience yesterdatm or does this Whole Foods operate under Buyer Beware philosophy? Went in yesterday while in Mt. Pleasant for medical appt. Bought quite a few packages of produce - however, the prices the produce marked NOT the price that rung up at check out. This happened on about 4 items, not just one. I feel ripped off! The first bag of cherries I selected (organic) were marked $4.99 - then I saw the the non-organic ones and the produce person and I had convesation about value and we agreed more cherries in the non-organic package for the same price. So I exchanged organic cherries for non-organic @$4.99 (or so I thought) My receipt shows I was charged $11.53 for 2.31 lbs. of cherries @$4.99/lb.! NOWHERE ON MY PACKAGE IS THE WEIGHT SPECIFIED! I bought a package of fingerling potatoes @ $3.99 also that were marked one price at counter and then another on my grocery store receipt ($8.34) I dont mind paying more for quality, but I should not be seeing one advertised price in the store and then look at my receipt AFTER check out to see that the price charged apparently was per lb. and not the package price as advertised on the display. I do not know if this was issue that the checker had (as she was deeply involved in conversation with young man and was not really focused on checking me out) or not. At the Deli counter, I purchased some green beans w/garlic -- the charge was $6.02 for a serving for one. There is no weight given on the receipt. You cannot tell what the cost will be until final check out! Not so good for the consumer! I will return vi amail the receipt to the store manager to see if he can make any adjustments -- I cant drive back as its over 65 miles one way from my house to Whole Foods in Mt.Pleasant. Very disappointing as I usually am a very happy shopper here. But really cant afford to shop where the prices are not clearly specified. Cecelia Cook Pawleys Island, SC

Theyre the only store that carries purple carrots. Many of the fruits and vegetables are organic. The beef is 90/10 grass feed; the oatmeal is gluten free with amaranth, quinoa, flax, and chia, and the milk is grass fed (although Im suspicious of those vitamin A & D palmitates they add). Unfortunately there are many highly poisonous foods in the store with deceptively benign sounding ingredients. Still though, Id have to make my own grocery store before I could actually complain about the best food source in Charleston county. Being on a no-excitotoxin, no sugar, no gluten, no canola (journalists) diet, this store is definitely like a requirement. One thing Id like to complain about is the possibility that some of the fruits/vegetables/meat could be grown/raised with polluted water (from things like fracking/fluoride; even lead can contaminate soil if there isnt proper regulation restricting shooting range runoff). We certainly dont live in a just world, but Whole Foods certainly aint the toxic waste dump that just about every other grocery store is (hmm, havent been to Trader Joes though so maybe theres that place).

Whole Foods has implemented a new policy starting Jan 1, 2016 where if you buy from their beauty section, you can not return or exchange the product even though you have a receipt for any reason. I loved Whole Foods until this happened to me. You have a lost a customer for life due to a $12 bottle of organic coconut oil for skin. Congratulations to the brilliant businessman who thought of this! I will shop at Earth Fare from now on! Beware to all! Do not buy from the beauty section at Whole Foods. Go with another company that is more customer appreciative and friendly with a decent return or exchanger policy if you are not happy with your purchase.

I am ENRAGED to learn that Whole Foods is now a subsidiary of Monsanto ( the LEADER in GENETICALLY MODIFIED FOODS). After suffering 5 years, I finally was diagnosed with severe gluten intolerance that caused severe IBS and hideous skin lesions. I had finally begun to heal and have hope for the future. BUT, over the past year or so as I have increased my consumption of rice/ soy/ corn, my symptoms have returned with a VENGENCE. I assure you I will switch my business to local farmers and shop for ALL other foods at EARTH FARE. What possessed you to sell out on your most basic customer promise???? Susan in Mt Pleasant

Everything is well presented, clean tidy, and worth the trip to Mount Pleasant. The staff are friendly, the hot food section could do with a bit of work, some of the food was great, but other dishes were either mushy or been out way too long past their hold time. Some items on shelves are reasonably priced, a lot of them you could easily find cheaper at other grocery stores. I think they need to keep up with their completion in the local markets, but otherwise a great store to go to for the harder to find healthy options.

The staff is very friendly and helpful although the store exhibits a kind of arrogance, sorry but take it or leave it attitude. I have been shopping here for a while as this is the only place in town for some things, perhaps that is part of the problem. The tables in the food area are falling apart, outside vendors are late delivering products, requiring repeat trips to purchase goods and store policies do not respect discounts offered at other stores. They are in it for the money not to be part of the community.

Although a bit pricey, you do get what you pay for. The food is always delicious and fresh, and the variety is amazing. I have found the staff pretty helpful. We ordered a fresh turkey for thanksgiving from Whole Foods and the experience was good and showed strong organization. One time when they didnt have what I wanted when I wanted it, the staff went out of their way to accommodate me. Kinda silly to go there for "health" food and then stock up on those yummy cookies in the bakery, but oh well.

Whenever Im in the area for business, Whole Foods becomes my sustenance resource. The produce is always beautiful with ample selection of individual containers of chopped fruit and berries for people on the go. The prepared food area offers both healthy dishes (think tofu) and typical southern dishes (think damn good fried chicken). Plus they have ample indoor and outdoor seating, giving hotel-bound people a chance to eat healthy while sitting outside on a balmy evening. #MountPleasant #Organic

Whole Food is a nice change from the traditional grocery chains in SC. Although there are some differences from what Im used to from the west coast Whole Foods (eg, paper bags are free, the plastic produce bags arent compostable), this location was more than adequate for our needs. Nice selection of organic produce, affordable wines, and international cheeses. Also, frequent sales and friendly staff.

One of the best finds around the Mt. Pleasant/Isle of Palms area for those who like to eat healthy, organic, natural or have allergy concerns. Also it is wonderful compared to the Piggly Wiggly. They have an amazing cold and hot bar, frozen foods, deli, gelato, dining area and free wifi. Make sure to bring your own reusable bags and find a small shopping cart for those light trips!
